Aha the pill to counter a pill. I had the same for the steroids I was prescribed. I had to take them for a while after I had been weaned off the beneficial ones as well.

Aye...I've got a packet of them to take back for disposal too, Big Kev.
I'm not a very compliant patient I am afraid. I hate swallowing pills....

I'm not keen but they have definitely made an improvement. I'll take another Naproxen before bed and hopefully that'll do. The other 52 will have to go back to the pharmacy.

My advice would be to hang on to them for at least a fortnight/month. It is very easy to take a wrong step and stir up pain again. I did it myself a couple of times. It really makes you yelp when you do it too...

THIS BBC report out this morning shocked me. A Lancet Psychiatry study found that in 2014, 6% of people had self-harmed, up from 2% in 2000 - with the highest rate in those aged 16-24. But the number getting no help remained at about 50% - and experts said more support was needed. What the proportion is now five years later is anybody's guess. (The estimate is 20%, 2 in ten....)
Shocking to me particularly having 3 daughters and five girls in the grand children. I simply don't understand it.

Hahahaha, of course.

The post op swelling has reduced quite a bit.

Good to hear Kev but don't be doing anything silly! Wounds still take 6 weeks to heal.....

It's the moving around on crutches that is the most annoying thing, apparently I need to limit the amount of weight I put in the joint to allow the 'chondroplasty drilling and microfracture' procedure to do its thing...

Poor old crutches. How are they doing under the strain?

Completely opposite to me Kev, I had to put maximum effort through my right leg to get over the inherited dominance in my left. Nine months on I still have to concentrate to make that happen, that's the tiring bit having to think about step placement. I suppose once you have mended up physically you will have the muscle control and flexibility to get back. Good luck with it anyway, I know you commit to the regimes offered which can be recommended, worked for me. :good:

Nothing so posh for my foldable walking stick purchased from the pharmacy. I haven't needed it for weeks now, so folded it up yesterday and threw it in a drawer. Comforting to know it is there if needed again...

I still have problems with my gait, Panbiker, and I know how it is to concentrate on EVERY step.
Very cold here at present, and having numbness, it only seems to increase in the cold. Hubby noticed today that my gait wasn't right (could have strangled him for mentioning it) but I was indeed struggling to keep up the pace. It wasn't pain though, just numbness. I had been concentrating so hard on keeping my shoulders even, that the numb foot suffered and I lost the plot with it.
All I can say, is it is much easier in warm weather. :good:

I understand entirely all the above comments about thinking carefully about movement. For different reasons I have been doing it for years to protect myself. My attitude to walking is do it slowly and with purpose. If I don't something will bite me! It is a habit now and doubly important at the moment during the present back storm..... I'm certain it's the right way to go about it and I wish you all well.

Daughter Margaret has another ear problem, poor lass! It's a Cholesteatoma (LINK) The only good thing about it is the term non-cancerous!

Sorry to hear that Stanley, is it anything to do with the implants that she has or totally unconnected?

Probably unconnected Ian apart from being all part of the curse of Mary Agnes. She was Vera's mother and had a history of ear problems, that's where we think the gene comes from. She was alerted to it by the fact the side of her face next to it started twitching involuntarily because if nerve damage. Just one thing after another.....

THIS BBC account of a report in the journal Sleep Medicine caught my attention (as did the report yesterday that the 'sleep apps' available online can actually make achieving sleep harder.) I am pleased to report that I adhere to every one of their recommendations and this is perhaps an explanation why, despite the fact that we are told that sleep problems are exacerbated by age, I have no problems. I would also recommend my ploy of having a second sleep in the afternoon to top up my hours if you have the freedom to do it. Another thing that strikes me is that over the years of early rising and long hours I perfected the technique of being able to take cat naps whenever I had the chance. Sleep is so important to health.....

First post op physio this morning, hopefully that will get recovery moving a bit, I'm bored using these crutches.
Stitches are coming out on Wednesday so that may loosen things up a bit too :-)

Excellent Kev and the stitches, it should give you a fighting chance once those are out of the way of the bendy bits.
