Syke Ing Mill Engine 2
View of the engine from the generator platform at the back of the engine house. The platform was about 10 foot above the engine house floor. This platform and the generator were a later addition (1940's?). Note the hand-barring slots in the flywheel. I remember visiting at the age of about 11 end not being able to lift one end of the barring lever off the floor, much less attempt to bar the engine over!
