Had my shingles jab on Friday. Nurse Claire said there could be side effects! She was not wrong, felt proper rough when I got up on Saturday. Had breakfast but couldn't face any lunch, made it through to 3pm then took 2 paracetamol and went to bed. Woke at 9pm, feeling a bit better. Got up and had a...

Take a look at this, the artist is Mayon, she is a professional Chinese Zither, (Guzheng) player. She always hides her face in various ways.

Take a look at some of her other work as well, impressive.

Re: GOOD TV

Glad you enjoyed it Gloria. I have found most of the TV adaptations, of the Harlen Coben books very good. There was one that was produced in the US that wasn't particularly good (the name currently eludes me). There is another that was filmed around Morecambe, we found ourselves looking for familia...

Re: Seen in the News

When I started school at 4 years old I had some rudimentary counting and reading skills which were all down to my mother's efforts. I was not alone, other children were at the same level and I think it made Mrs Ackroyd's task much easier. (Doe everyone remember the name of their first school teache...

I think that will be the gas works building Stanley where my Uncle Bob used to have his building and joinery business. I think it has been converted to units.

Booked for a Shingles jab at the surgery tomorrow. I rang up and asked if they were doing it. I have two friends who have both had Shingles lately, they say they would not wish it on anyone. I qualify having turned 70 last November. I remember being slathered in calamine lotion when I was kid, it wa...

The fact that twice this morning I haven't been able to access the site. All seems to be well now. :good: I have checked the logs and all seems well. The auto site backup was completed at 12.30am using the anonymous user account. As you keep unusual hours, you have probably fallen foul of maintenan...

Its supposed to be questions to the PM so should be weighted to the opposition parties not the back slapping affair that it is. "Does the PM agree with me" ad infinitum, well, at least for the majority of the session. Get out of jail free card for Roland Rat.

Independent Methodists. Stanley has covered this in one of his articles which will be on the site. In a nutshell, 19thC I think, the Methodists in Barlick had a falling out session, split the local movement and vowed to launch a "New Ship" which they did. :extrawink:

I formed it as a bog standard bloomer with a couple of slashes in the top to open up the crust. I flipped it over in the oven for the last 5 minutes to crisp up the bottom, turned out OK. Will test it properly with soup for lunch.

He can rely on my vote. Much as I distrust Starmer and his brand of politics I have to support Labour in a national election even if it is on historical grounds. It's partially that for me even though I am fairly well involved being admin of the electoral database for the CLP that contains the elec...

For the record, the event was very well attended. Probably about 50 turned up. Jonathan did 15 minutes introduction of himself and what his priorities would be if elected. I picked up a leaflet on the new hub last night at the Civic Hall. PO Counters say they will accept and vend cash for change etc. However they don't say how much they will accept in change which is the crux of the matter for cash based businesses. I wonder also if they will accept Scottish notes and...

Problem is, all the major parties are frightened of losing the first past the post system we have now. It's generally a YoYo job between Tory and Labour with more of a leaning to the Tories as of course Socialism is an extremely nasty ideology to be avoided at all costs. Present Labour are about as ...
