Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

News coming in of a direct attack on Israel by Iran involving over 200 missiles and drones.
We are told that neither country wants to get involved.
This is madness.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

Sorry, I forgot to look. It's the the CI explosion box at the back of the boiler. The loose lids would be blown off and relieve pressure on the brickwork in the event of an explosion when the two streams of gas from the furnaces met in the sole flue at the back of the boiler. (If one furnace was rec...

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

You sink into Autumn Cathy as we slowly warm up to summer. The showers that were forecast for yesterday afternoon did happen but were very light and by 20:00 we had a light breeze a clearing sky and it was dry. First thing this morning was the same but noticeably cooler and it hasn't changed since. ...

Re: VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE

That's a good point Peter. I can't help feeling we went wrong somewhere with education. I suggested elsewhere when commenting on the use of 19th century methods to manufacture lathes in India that perhaps the basic problem the 'advanced' countries have is that, as a species, we are far to clever for...

It is a dangerous and complicated mess and has little do do with common sense or even respect for human life.

Thanks for reminding me of that woman. I had forgotten her and shouldn't have! See THIS Kuenssberg article on Angela Rayner. "Everyone says they want to have a woman around who drinks and smokes and makes jokes. "Then they get a woman who drinks and smokes and makes jokes, then they say, '...

I am reminded of the saying.... "Youth is wasted on the young." :biggrin2:
I shall be in the shed at 06:00 for an hour. After second sleep I shall post a letter and then I expect a visit from Susan and Mick. I think I shall still recognise them!
