Morning Sue! I am back in the world and about to deal with my chicken, then I shall go veggie shopping...
I hope your day goes well.....
Cathy, I don't make noise or smells so they are not disturbed. (Warming a Sistema pot in the micro wave for 4 minutes doesn't make cooking aromas.... )

Found an email that I forgot about with going on holiday. I should have booked a service for the car which was due on the 20th of this month. I'll do that today, needs looking at as I have noticed an intermittent slight whine when in Drive.
As reported elsewhere lift my starter from the fridge to warm.
This afternoon we have a chat booked at the gym with Katie, encouraged by our Jack who uses the facilities. They have an over 60's group that will probably be beneficial for us both. Brew and a chat to see what they can offer. Interested to see what they have done with my Uncle Bobs Joiners Shop at the former Skipton Road Gas Works which I knew well back in the 60's and 70's.

I'm back home after doing useful things. 25 minutes spent on the phone making appointments for the diabetes clinic blood test. Then a walk into the Town Square and a big veggie shop at Gulam's. I've decided I will leave the Ubuntu reload until my back up, Peter, is back off his holiday. I am up to date now and will be veggie cooking tomorrow.

I shall be a good lad today and go in the shed early doors for an hour's Occupational Therapy. After second sleep my path is clear, veggie cooking for the next week. There will be no temptation from the weather, we have an overcast showery day forecast.

This morning I started by finishing tapping the holes in the front end of the cylinder and fitting the studs that will connect it to the target end of the bed. Then I drilled the clearance holes for the 2BA holding down bolts in the lugs of the bed. Next, while I had the 3/16" drill in the chuck I drilled the holes in the lugs on the base for the holding down screws on to the wooden plinth. That got rid of 45 minutes so I am chasing my breakfast.

The tour went well and we will be signing up for the next 8 weeks sessions. which should start around the middle of next month. The building has been Toally transformed from the last time I was in it. Modernised, with new flooring, lighting and air conditioning in some areas. More equipment than you can shake stick at. Katie is a very measured person who gives you confidence to have a go. She has a qualified nursing background before retraining for gym coaching and all that goes with it. We will be rocking up for the assessment consultation, probably sometime next week.

All went well and I have finished cooking veggies. All the cooked goodies are in the fridge, the hob is cleaned and the pans put away. Always a good point in the week...

Driving over to Padiham with wellies to rescue grandson's shoe from the river. Fortunately it floated into some weeds and I could reach it with a stick.

What would they do without you! :good:

Here at Graham Towers I will not be rescuing anyone. Just sticking to the routine; shed first thing for an hour then breakfast and second sleep and after that whatever appeals to me. That's the great advantage of being old and retired!

More slow steady progress. This morning I drilled and tapped for the 2BA holding down bolts for the bed attachment to the base and then Mounted the base on a temporary wooden plinth for the remainder of the fitting. 45 minutes well spent and now I am chasing breakfast.

Morning

I love this story. We oldies can be useful….one of Julias first phrases was Daddy mend it. She has been known to use it even today though her Ed is just as competent.

We had a good day yesterday but not as planned. Bob wanted to go to Oswestry where there was to be a competition to see who could get their little steam train the furthest on one load of coal .( Not as a participant but as an observer) The last time this event was planned it was cancelled and no matter who he tried to contact about yesterdays event he could get no confirmation.

We decided to go anyway, spending some time in Whitchuch where we had lunch, visited the church, an interesting place, and did a bit of casual shopping. Then on to Oswestry and the miniatire railway. What a nightmare trying to find it. We went round and round in circles, eventually asking at an ´activity experience ´ place that had the same post code. When we finally found it, it was closed and no event was taking place.

By now it was 2.30 pm so we decided to go into Oswestry and visit an antiques place and the heritage railway. We thought the latter was also a museum but it wasn’t. We had a drink and Bob had cake, as usual😊, and drove home deciding it was too late to try to find the museum as by now it was nearly 4.00 pm. It was a pleasant day out but not the one we planned.

Today the miniature railway here in the park are doing an ARMED FORCES DAY , organised by the new younger members of the group. Bob has to be there from 10 to help set up so he is in for a long day. The forecast is warm and dry, lets hope it is correct, forecasting for Rochdale has been a bit erratic this week.

I shall do the ironing and start my packing as well as visiting the plant man in Bacup to buy a couple of plants to fill spaces that are now apparent after my back garden tidying. Have a good day all.

I suspect your visit to the railway at Oswestry would have been more productive if Bob had been organising it.....
You're right, today will be a long one for him but at least he won't have to be putting up with the high temperatures that are being reported for all points South!
Cathy, if you are reading this, Margaret reported in this morning that they are having the same weather as you over in Perth. She's making pumpkin soup today to warm them up!
I've just had a look and they have revised the temperatures for today and tomorrow. 23C for today and 25C for tomorrow. Still nowhere near what they are having further south.

I'm sure my son could have retrieved it but my grandson is autistic and my son a single parent, you can't take your eyes off him or he'll be off :biggrin2:
Eldest son messaged me when I got back home, my granddaughter had got locked in her bedroom (broken lock). He had got the door open with brute force and was after glue and clamps. It was nearly a 'daddy mend it' moment :biggrin2:

That was a busy weekend Kev! What a good job you have a functioning car and not a basket full of error messages!
Today I shall do my hour in the shed and after second sleep will probably cook some buttered swede as an extender to this week's veggies. I have to start thinking about tomorrow's blood test for my repeat prescription. I started as soon as I got the appointment, doing 5 days BP readings. It's a long time since I did any regularly and I have been surprised how normal they are. This morning's was 121/78.... not a lot wrong with that! :good:

This morning the task was to mark and drill the clearance holes in the target end of the bed in such a way that the face of the valve is perpendicular to the base. I have achieved that and got a good first fit but more needs to be done later to ensure that the nuts bed properly in the back of the target. But this morning's 45 minutes is sufficient and now I want my breakfast.

Morning

I do hate these light mornings, I have been wide awake since 4. Its 17 degrees now and sunny and promises to be a hot day. Yesterday was 24 degrees and not unpleasant. I did my ironing, sorted my packing and went to the garden centre in Rochdale where I bought and later planted three lovely flowering perennials. I initially went to Bacup but road access was limited as it was Bacup carnival. Rather than search for parking beyond the restricted zones I turned round and went back into Rochdale.

Amazingly there was intermittent, not forecasted, rain for an hour. Thankfully it cleared and the miniature railway event at the park went very well. The Mayor was there, plus Littleborough brass band . There is a lovely video clip of the whole band riding round on three consecutive trains, playing music as they travelled round. There were cadet groups of the three armed forces, a parade, the union jack was raised and the last post played. I wish I had gone down to see. Bob says the atmosphere was good and it was well attended with nearly £300 being taken. It was a credit to the three young members who organised it all. Their Mums organised a buffet and refreshments for the helpers, some of the food having arrived back in our fridge in the form of sausage rolls and chocolate brownies ! A welcome addition to lunches this week

Today is french at Haslingden, and at teatime yoga in the studio. Bob intends sorting his packing this morning then this afternoon we can combine the two sets of stuff in the one case and 🤞it will be well within our weight limit, otherwise its back to the drawing board as they say. Have a good day all

So good to hear that Bob had a good day. A fitting reward for all the effort and so sad when it doesn't happen. Good job it wasn't today as it looks as though it is going to be too hot for comfort. They're forecasting 34C for Wimbledon..... Include me out!

Today I am having an easy morning, I am taking a day off from the shed and concentrating on my 11:40 appointment at the surgery for diabetes clinic. I am aiming for the same result as last year, a 12 month repeat prescription with only a neuropathy test in the interim. I have been doing an early morning BP test for five days as evidence for the clinic and all the readings hover round 120/80 which is quite satisfactory!
