And as I forecast a cooler day..... You all know how nice it was yesterday. This morning it is cool and 100% overcast but dry. The glass is down a touch at 1014mb. The forecast is for a bright overcast day with a chance of thundery rain this evening. The high is 21C and the low 14C and the light easterly wind will be constant all day but swing into the west this evening. The outlook is for much cooler weather.
06:35. A pleasant walk under cloudy skies. Occasional shafts of watery sun but few and far between. Jack has had a good play with is mates, sets him up for the day. Too many dogs are never allowed to socialise. Just struck me, today is the longest day. From here on it's downhill all the way to winter!

We had a very light shower at about the same time Moh but no thunder. It was quite a supportable day yesterday, a light breeze and no excessive temperatures, same at 21:00 last night with broken cloud. This morning it was dry first thing with a light breeze and 100% overcast. I've just popped me head out and no change. The glass is down at 1003mb. The forecast is for a dry day on the whole but it will be murky until about 9AM then bright overcast for the rest of the day. The wind will soon rise to a moderate westerly and be constant all day. The high will be 17C and the low 13C. The outlook is for the cool quiet weather to continue.
06:10. A pleasant walk on a gloomy overcast morning with the slightest hint of mizzle in the air. Good for foliage and the complexion! I noted something this morning that I have passed hundreds of times and not clocked. The first lamp post in Valley Gardens as you go in from Gisburn Road is labelled 'Butts Gardens'. This must pre-date the time twenty years ago when 'Valley Gardens' became the accepted name.

We had a flash of lightning & one rumble of thunder about 8pm last night - much cooler & fresher today, I can cope with this - that heat put me out.

No sign here Moh. It turned out quite nice yesterday at one point but was gloomy on the whole. At 21:00 we had a fresh breeze and overcast and the same this morning. (I am up earlier than usual because, most unusual for me, I woke early and knew I didn't want to sleep. The glass is up slightly at 1006mb. The forecast is for dry overcast until about 08:00 and then a good chance of rain all day on and off. The constant moderate west wind will give us 15C for the high and 12C for the low.

Back to normal this morning thank God! Last night we had broken cloud and a moderate west wind. Slightly damp from a recent very light shower. Just the same this morning but I think the cloud might be thinning a bit, no sign of the sun yet. The glass is steady on 1010mb. The forecast is not very exciting.... A damp overcast day with a good chance of a shower this morning. The west wind is constant and at the moment is light but it will strengthen a bit to moderate this morning. The high will be 15C and the low 11C and looking at the seven day outlook, not a lot of change in sight. Flaming June has left us!

Less rain than forecast yesterday. At 21:00 last night it was cool and overcast with a fresh west wind. It was the same this morning but with a hint of rain in the air. Two hours later and we have light rain. The glass is down slightly at just below 1004mb. The forecast is for a showery morning but brightening later. The wind is a constant moderate westerly and the high is 14C and the low 9C. Barlick holiday weather!
06:30. If you count light drizzle as 'wet', it's a wet morning. It's cool as well, I am back in my shirt and vest even in the house! A bit depressing actually.....

At 21:00 last night it was relatively clear, breezy, dry and cool. This morning it was clear and cool first thing and apart from some high thin cloud it's the same now and we have sun. The glass is up at just below 1009. The forecast is for a bright dry day with a chance of rain late tonight. The wind will be a constant light westerly tending to WNW at time and the high is 16C with 11C tonight.
06:20. A cool bright walk. My move back into my vest was correct!

I think of you (and your vests!) every day on our walk. We walk past a house that has a sunny porch at the front, and the "old Boy" who lives there always has his vest and pants pegged to an airing frame outside the front door. It always makes us smile to see them...

Funny thing Maz is that I discarded it this morning! Somehow, despite the unseasonable weather it's warming up again.
Clear and dry at 21:00 last night but proper rain this morning first thing and the same now. The glass is down slightly at just over 1005mb. The forecast is for rain all morning and showers likely for the rest of the day. The wind has changed and will be a constant light to moderate easterly all day. The high is 14C and the low 11C.
06:20. Full wet weather gear this morning although as we got close to home the rain bated a bit but plenty more to come. The rain gauge in Butts shows that we have had quite a lot of rain during the night, there is a good flow over the cill.
One thing I note is the latest move to protect entry into the Pioneer car park from the steps leading from Co-operative Street. The railings are gone after the last episode of being mangled by a passing delivery wagon. They are trying a different ploy which might work. They have installed two posts with 'Give Way' signs on high enough to be on a level with the driver's cab and yellow hatch markings on the floor. Time will tell!

A chicly, wet walk this morning. The glass is down with a bump to 996mb. The forecast is dead simple, Rain all day on a constant moderate wind varying between East and North. The high is 11C and the low 10C. That's about it kids, Barlick holiday weather!

Yesterday's forecast was dead right. We had continuous rain all day, all last night and it is still raining this morning. On top of that my CH has cracked on, I am back in my vest! The glass is down again at 988mb. The forecast is for another wet day, the only difference is that there is more chance of it bating slightly at times. The wind has shifted into the NW and the high will be 15C and the low 13C.
06:00. A wet walk, the only saving grace is that it is calm at the moment so the rain isn't driving against you! Several things caught my attention. First thing to say is that quality isn't good because it's so dark. The outside light in my back yard triggered even when we came back at 6AM.

Image

The new regime in the car park. Note that the far post has been bent already!

Image

Butts dam tells you all you need to know about the last 24 hours!

Image

Nothing looks worse than an empty building on the high street. When it's a bank it's even worse. Possibly the ugliest building in Barlick. I wonder how long it will be empty?

Image

This was a sad surprise, Elaine is closing Okidoki down. I hope she carries on with the market stall. I shall call in this morning.....

I called on Elaine and they are closing the shop because Heather's side of the business designing tee shirts and mugs etc. is doing so well it makes sense to ditch the whole foods. I bought her stock of good muesli, it keeps forever!
Yesterday dried up nicely late morning and last night and this morning have been calm, overcast and dry. The glass is up slightly at 994mb. The forecast is for a dull day with the chance of an occasional shower, The wind starts light in the west but backs all day to end up NNE tonight, constant and light. The high is 17C and the low 12C. This is an improvement on the last two days but still not high summer!
06:50. A dry walk down to the butcher's and the main improvement on the last two days is the fact that it was much lighter. I note that we are having a light shower of rain as I post this but nothing of any consequence.

Not a lot needs to be said about yesterday, overcast all day! It was the same last night and this morning, but dry and cool, I suspect that many CH systems like mine have fired up! The glass was rising slowly all day yesterday and this morning is on 1009mb. The forecast is for another cool and overcast day with a glimpse of the sun around midday. The light to moderate constant west wind will hold us down to 15C for the high and 10C for the low. This for the first day of July..... The next full moon is July 9th, I wonder if that will bring a change to warmer weather?
06:15. A quiet pleasant walk. Mild, calm, dry and the overcast is thin and almost breaking but heavy enough to prevent any sun coming in from the East.

It turned out nice after dinner and at 21:00 was still nice but overcast with some very light mizzle. It's clear, bright and dry up to press this morning. The glass is up once more at 1014mb. The forecast is for a cooler but bright dry day with a constant moderate west wind which will give us a high of 15C and a low of 12C. Still not high summer but an improvement!
06:30. A fresh sunny walk on a dry morning. Cool enough to trigger the CH into a short blast but very pleasant. I noticed this week but forgot to mention, that the louvre on the ventilator at the Pigeon Club has shut. I hope the young jackdaws managed to fledge and get away before the cell door closed!

A pleasant day yesterday. At 21:00 it was cool, largely clear and a moderate NW breeze. This morning we had a dull morning with fine mizzle first thing and it is the same now. The glass is just above 1012mb. The forecast is for it to be wet until about 9AM and then the sky is to clear and the rest of the day should be dry and sunny. The wind is a constant westerly varying between SW and NW. The high will be 16C and the low tonight 11C. The outlook is for it to warm slightly until Thursday and then revert to Barlick holiday weather!

Thought of you again today, Stanley...and your vests.
It was overcast with mizzle today, so we doubted we would find the old boy's vests and pants airing on his front verandah.
Got the giggles to see he had them all hanging against the inside of his lounge room window, flat up against the glass.

You may laugh Maz but these things become important as you age. My vest and thick shirt is back on again as we experience lower temperatures than usual for the time of year. I see no merit in feeling cold! As a guide, many CH exhausts have been steaming first thing in the morning over the last few days. My CH kicked in again this morning briefly due to the NW breeze we have at the moment even though the thermostat is set at 18C. The core temperature of the house has been down to around that ever since the hot spell finished. So, on with the vest!
We've had our morning walk and were lucky, no rain at the moment but 100% overcast and perhaps some more before it brightens up. It's not summer!

Yesterday was a much better one than forecast with the exception of a sharp heavy shower at about 10AM. last night it was dry at 21:00 and this morning first thing it had just started spotting with rain but it has stopped now and the flags are still dry. The glass is up slightly at 1015mb. The forecast is for a dull showery day. The wind starts in the east but is backing all day and by dinner will be south and tonight SW, a high of 15C and a low of 13C. Not exciting!
06:45. Contrary to the forecast it was dry when we set off but I put my Goretex coat on anyway. By the time we got back a fine mizzle had set in under a leaden sky.Quite depressing actually!

It was a drizzly old day yesterday including 21:00 when Jack had his late pee! This morning first thing it was misty and drizzling and it is the same now but perhaps a shade brighter and only a hint of mizzle in the air. The glass is rock steady on 1015mb. The forecast is for this gloomy picture to continue until late morning when it wall clear and we will have some sun. The light and variable mainly southerly wind will not damage the temperature much, expect a high of 19C and a low of 14C. The hot weather is moving up from the south so look for something more like summer tomorrow!
06:30. Calm, mild, misty and a constant light mizzle. Not heavy, it's still dry under the larger trees but it's gloomy and the sooner it burns off the better! What the Irish would describe as 'drimmy'.

Yesterday turned out nice and balmy in the afternoon with good sun. At 21:00 last night it was mild, dry and almost calm with an overcast sky. This morning it is dry and mild with I think a light overcast. Noticeable that the days are shortening.... The glass is down slightly at 1013mb. The forecast is funny today. We will have a bright day with sunny spells and showers and the Met Office say these could be heavy and thundery from 18:00 onwards and through the night. The wind is light and variable, swinging all round the compass. The high will be 23C and the low 15C. To date this summer none of the warnings of thunder have been accurate......
There was a short period of mizzle as we went out but nothing to frighten the horses! The overcast is breaking slowly but there is no fast weather today. No sun yet. Not summer.

It's definitely Winter here, heaters on in the evenings, pitch black outside, raining, wind blowing, trees almost bare, leaves everywhere.
Fri 12/9C, Sat 13/8, Sun 13/8, Mon 14/6
and lots of rain coming.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)

Warm on Weets today, visibility nothing to shout about but hardly any breeze to shift the haze. Hot in the sun when it managed to break through in parts. Needed to get in the shower again when I got back, wet through, rehydrating at the moment.

It's all relative Cathy isn't it. If you lived in Svalbard your winter weather would be stifling hot!
Very close yesterday Ian but I haven't heard any of the thunder and heavy rain they were warning about. Last night and this morning it's overcast, dry, calm and mild. The glass is moving back, it's down on 1009mb. The forecast is for an overcast day with a slight chance of a light shower. The wind is a light to moderate westerly and the high is 17C with a low of 12C. What I call a nowt day!
06:45. A pleasant, calm, dry walk down to the butcher's. 100% overcast and it feels as though it could rain at any minute. I think the best description of the weather is neither one thing or t'other!
