What about Scotch Eggs, Wendy?
Are they not breadcrumbed and fried?

It's very difficult explaining 'low carb'. I'm always asked "don't you want some chips with that burger". The portabella mushroom, slice of cheese, half a beef tomato and half a plate of salad are more than enough thank you is also met with "but you've not got a bun with it". I just smile politely and ignore the strange looks :-)

Half a dozen small strawberries, some blueberries and a dollop of freshly whipped cream went down well. I've got my 'am I bovvered?' head on today. I'll probably regret it later if I don’t burn it of this afternoon :-)

Sounds perfect Kev, just like my breakfast this morning only I had freshly picked blackcurrants with mine....oh and thick, creamy yoghurt.
We are going to a low carb buffet lunch at the Rendezvous in Skipton on the 2nd August shame it's an afternoon event!

Enjoy...

I was expecting a higher reading than 6.5 after the strawberries, I seem to have settled down nicely, no spikes :biggrin2:

Eggs Benedict tonight...a joint effort as Febby poaches the eggs and I assemble everything. I just have to wrestle him off the computer when it is time to start the eggs. I even have to have his pan of water simmering and the eggs sitting in little cups ready to go. ( easier if I just did it myself actually, but he feels he does well with his poached eggs, and we must encourage enthusiasm, though it seems to make more washing up!)

Ladies, I am not attempting to eliminate carbs, just cut them down.....
Had steak pudding and veggies for dinner, cooked 4 large sausages and tomatoes and added them to the veggies and had that for tea. Also another helping of stewed plums and cream plus Stilton and biscuits. Roasted a shoulder of mutton and put that in the fridge with it's gravy and fat separate.

The last of the sausage and veggies went in two small bowls at dinner and teatime yesterday. Afters was the last of the stewed plums and cream and a few small biscuits with good Cheddar. I took the gravy and meat out that I cooked on Sunday, took the fat off the gravy and popped it in the deep fat fryer and de-boned and cubed the the meat. Into the slow cooker with the gravy and slow cooked for a few hours. I bought veggies yesterday and will cook them this morning, cabbage, cauliflower and carrots.

Fried the haloumi in a bit of olive oil then chucked in the spinach, with the lid on, for 10 minutes.

Scotch egg and mushy peas for dinner. For tea I had a small bowl of Muesli, a trifle that Kathy slipped into my shopping and some thin water biscuits with sliced tomato and cheddar cheese for afters. The muesli has seeds and nuts in which is good for diversity in my diet.

Scotch egg and peas for dinner and a rib steak with tomatoes and fried egg for tea. Not a full bowl but very filling, no afters, just an apple.

I made a sausage and tomato stew and roasted a mutton shoulder on free leccy. The mutton and its gravy are in the fridge. Dinner was a small pork pie and tea was the last Scotch egg with beans. I extended the sausage and tomato with peas and so no cooking today.

As usual, the food on the Fellsman was very good. Full English breakfast as we climbed towards the summit on the Settle Carlisle line and a good three course chicken dinner on the way back later in the day. There's something about dining in First Class on a steam hauled train that can't be beaten!
One for Richard, I had a half litre bottle of Gravy Train Beer brewed in Southport with my dinner and it's good stuff, well worth seeking out!

Back from our tropical holiday and our systems are crying out for Veg!
So Veg Soup tonight...lucky I keep a good supply of Homemade Soup in the freezer.

Got caught several times ordering the most simple of foods while on holiday - after careful quizzing of ingredients used in cooking, and explaining until we were blue in the face that we don't eat Garlic, we were still served it! I was livid after ordering a toasted Cheese and Tomato Sandwich to find the woman had used Garlic Butter. ( Maz was not happy!)
Some people are just plain THICK!
We also went on a lagoon boat tour ( to see Crocodiles). We were the only Aussies on there - the rest were Chinese tourists - and I could hardly breathe with the Garlic odour coming from them. It was truly nauseating. I couldn't wait to get off that boat!
The flight home was almost as bad...

We enjoyed the low carb buffet at the Rendezvous in Skipton yesterday lunchtime. It had been organised by their marketing manager who follows an LCHF diet herself. There was a variety of starters, mains and sweets to try, all simple enough to be made at home, and she is going to send the recipes out to anyone who left their email address. There were some lovely Scotch Eggs
-- without the breadcrumbs!!
About 30 people turned up and they are going to do it again in a month or so.
