Good luck Ian. Parking at Rochdale Infirmary is a nightmare, i generally park at Dunelm , just down the road which is now a council run carpark and is free for the first three hours. Normally I would walk to the hospital from home its only 25 minutes but its not always possible..ie last time I went it was for an Xray on a poorly foot!

Thanks for the tip on the quilt Kev, roll loosely. I use a similar technique when applying all in one facings to dresses, again youtube supplied the technique.

I slept like a log last night, 11.30 till 7.00 solid, wonderful, but woke with a start when I realised I had forgotten to wash our gardening gear last night, so the washer is now chugging away while i remain in bed with a cup of tea. It should have finished in time for towels after our showers.

We intend leaving after a lunch of beans on toast! The tin of beans surfaced in my cupboard after one of the tidying sessions and had been left last time Adam, Claire and Erin stayed. I thought, that it would be a good lunch as it meant I could clear all perishables out of the fridge yesterday and wash it out. It only takes about 90 minutes to St Malo so we should have time for a bit of shopping in the commercial centre there. Its an overnight ferry.

Just arriving at Potsmouth, smooth crossing except for the bit where we came round the Cherburg peninsula into the English channel. It got a bit choppy for a few minutes. Bob slept through it!

Now for the long drive home,we will go cross country to start with to miss Southampton rush hour! We will be stopping at Coventry to drop stuff off for Julia and family and pick up stuff from Julia to Claire. Hope to be back mid afternoon , I have a pilates class at 6.45 pm

It was already booked and paid for as we thought the ferry was during the day on the 4th and not the evening, hence we would have been back on tbe evening of the 4 th and not the 5 th. It was a actually good to stretch etc after being in the car for 7 hours. It was the only class I had booked this week.

Today i am off to the hairdressers early for a well needed hairdo, being 8 weeks since it was last done. I usually have my hair cut once every 5 weeks. Afterwoods I shall pop over to my friends and take the things over she left behind in France that would not go in her case. This afternoon is a routine health assessment for us both, luckily I have not put on much weight whilst away! Tonight is a social evening provided by the hospice for their helpers.

My health check revealed I had lost neatly 7 pounds in weight since I was last weighed at the Drs 18 months ago. I lost two pounds over the summer in France, all due to eating all that home grown fruit I think and keeping off the croissants and french bread, the latter being my downfall. Otherwise my diet routine is simply smaller portion size on the plate. I now find it very difficult to eat the full plate size I used to eat. About 3 years ago I set myself a weight target and I am nearly there. Unfortunately my BP is still a little high but not so much as to require medication. I am sure I suffer from the white coat syndrome. My bloods were taken and I get the results on Tuesday.

Today is an art class, and the subject is painting like Monet! Then its our weekly lunch out with Wendy and Keith. Bob is out this evening so its my night for chilling out, feet up TV remote in hand, or I may do a bit of genealogy on the computer. I have a link on my Rochdale Widdup cinnection and want to follow it up, but have forgotten a lot of my details so need to do a bit of revision. Tomorrow Claire and Erin may pop over to see us, i shall enjoy their compant its ages since I hugged that little girl!

White coat syndrome..... Very common Sue and I get it as well. The cure is to get your own BP machine. My GP likes my home readings better than the surgery ones.
Well done with the weight!

What rain we had yesterday. It seems to have got into our electrics somewhere, probably in the conservatory as we have had 6 powercuts in the last 12 hours. Bob is systematically working through things. Water was definitely getting in the conservatory yesterday. When we had the roof repair done in the summer we think the builder did not put the guttering back properly. It may be the same reason for the power cut we had here when we were in France.

We are going over to Claires for our tea today, which was a nice invite. Bob will be pottering to the railway at the park but I don’t think much will be happening today. I may do a little sewing or should I say preperation for my new venture, a casual summer jacket in denim, not a bomber jacket style though. I have a lesson on Wednesday when we will start drafting the pattern. Its good to be back, but prefer the french weather where they are still bathing in 26 degrees!

Well we have confirmed it is in the conservatory, possibly washer or dryer which are under the worktop where the water leaked in, makes sense.

Swimming this morning, french this afternoon. No art tonight .apparently it was cancelled two months ago as the teacher was ill but has never restarted. Its a bit worrying about the teacher. It may not rain today!

I think my early morning wake up after weeks of french time caught up with me yesterday, i felt exhausted and was in bed before 9.30. Slept like a log and woke at 7.00 a much more civilised hour. Today I have yoga, then help in the hospice shop and then pilates at tea time. At least I won’t need to see the rain!

I have been cold ever since we came home a week ago, I may have to ditch the cotton trousers and put my jeans on, it appears summer is definitely over and winter is just round the corner, how depressing.

We do have Autumn to come yet!

1.5 hour boost on the timer for the bathroom around shower time, it has three outside walls and you feel it.
