LTP. 78/AC/05. Page 11. Ernie Roberts says that Martin Grace , Billy Grace’s father, was engineer at Bancroft and if you went into the engine house ‘you would be hung drawn and quartered’.

c.1924.
LTP. 79/AO/02. Page 4. Jack Platt talks about the engine running away in the early days of Bancroft when he worked there. He thought that Martin Grace was the first engineer.

May 20th 1924
Report from Mather and Platt on the first inspection of a sprinkler installation at Bancroft Shed. Martin Grace noted as the engineer.

1881 and 1891 CENSUS.

No entries in either census for Grace in Barnoldswick or Thornton in Craven.
