WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Fair enough. I merely comment on her changing physical appearance. The woman is now in need of thick woollen slippers, and a heat pack ( for her poor humped back)...and a quiet life, no doubt enjoying a generous pension.

She is also a T1 diabetic which must be very hard to control under such stressful circumstances.
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
T1????...far out! That is amazing!!! ( I am still not making any political comment)...but WOW...
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
She was thrown into the fray as a sacrifice. I doubt whether things would have been much better if it had been any other person as PM. Brexit is a kamikaze mission. No-one deserves the treatment that she's suffered at the hands of the popular newspapers.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Yes, but to do that with T1 diabetes! Early mornings/late nights/stress...gosh...I take my hat off to her and bow low! ( how hard it must be).

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I'm sorry for her medical conditions but she didn't have to take the job. In my book she stands alongside Thatcher in being the second most damaging PM this country has ever had. Although she has brought us to the edge of the abyss there is still a chance of reason winning over. With Thatcher there was no coming back from total destruction of our production and manufacturing industries.
Anyway, writings on the wall for TM, should have happened a long time ago.

Thank you, we downsized 8 years ago and were fairly ruthless then. I'm sure we'll end up throwing a lot away

Aha, your last post on the dates indicated this last Thursday and Friday for the gig, or that's how I read it. No worries you will be able to attend BOTS then.

Yes indeed, and correcting the Council Tax band from D to A will make the job easier.
I take an interest in the local property market, and it seems to me there is a bit of a surge on up there at the moment?

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I'm at a loss as to how they managed that, I called the agent this morning to tell them and they were sure they'd put band A...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
We are in band B on the croft despite a lot of other properties around us being in A. This comes about because of the crazy way that the banding was calculated a number of years ago. We have asked to be re-banded to come in line with other properties but the council will have none of it.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Said to be a petrified forest : ie, fossilised, I would have thought it would have taken more than 4500 years to fossilise something. I can imagine this area to have sunk or been above the sea level at one time then silted up again to be re-inhabited and then flooded again. Perhaps these trees can be dated more accurately using modern technology than relying on mythical stories.
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
You're right to be sceptical, Plaques. I think this is a case of journalist's use of `petrified' rather than it's true meaning, coming from the word for stone. Other reports more sensibly use the word `preserved'. Radiocarbon dating is available for the preserved wood and has been used at Borth to show an age of 4500 years. We've also got to remember that fossilisation is not an instantaneous event, it's a very slow gradual process so there will be examples of `submerged forests' that are preserved wood and others that are fossilised. There are examples of `forests' of preserved tree stumps all around the coast of the British Isles but it's not really surprising when you think how many times the land has been inundated or exposed over thousands of years.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Checking back in the medical thread I find that it is only just over 4 weeks since I applied for my driving licence back, I could have sworn it was longer. Not had any correspondence or contact from the DVLA via any of the preferred methods I gave them, landline, mobile, text and email. The DVLA themselves recommend applying 6 weeks in advance of your suspension running out. Mine started in December last year so It should come in the next week or so, we live in hope.
NHSBT turned my medical suspension from Blood Donors round in three weeks and they said it took longer than the DVLA, certainly not in my case.
