Over 1.5 million this morning....
The fact that Laura flies out to Oz on Sunday at 14:00 from Manchester. She has visited me 3 times despite a full schedule, nice.
The butcher's are back from holiday. I can address my pork pie and steak pudding deprivation.
Later. THIS report of Eric Cantonar surprising UEFA with his unusual acceptance speech. I like Eric, he constantly surprises!

Yes I watched the game and its analysis last night. Ding had only to draw to win the series but Magnus had to win and took to many risks away from the established line. Ding played a good game considering the speed they had to play at.

Oh dear, hope all is well with them wherever they are. People have had a few days notice to leave the area, I'm sure they would have heeded that.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.

It's a big event Cathy. Might be difficult to avoid it and the associated bad weather. I too hope he is safe.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Just been looking at the track of Hurricane Dorian. Looks like Doc could have missed the worst of this one if he is still in the Caribbean. It tracked North of Haiti and Cuba. I hope that is the case anyway, Dorian has now been declared the worst high category hurricane ever.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I read about the rocket post Tiz a long time ago. Funny thing is I thought it was in the Hebrides.
Laura is safe home in Perth and I had a visit from Susan yesterday. She and Mick will take me to the next Airedale appointment by car and bring me back and we are having a trip to Ilkley for lunch and the cobblers next Wednesday. I have the diabetes nurse for my 6 month assessment this morning so my social calendar is full!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Letter from HMRC this morning, they owe me £120.80 They haven't sent me a cheque, that would be too simple.
If I want to claim it now I have to go online and say so, they will transfer it into my bank account. If I don't claim it online they will send me a cheque, "in about" two months.
This is my money that I have overpaid because they took it via my incorrect coding last year, guess what I am doing next.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Well, requested my refund which they say will take five days to reach my bank account! Not before jumping through quite a few hoops:
Went to the URL given on the gov.uk site.
Gathered my three P60's from last year as requested.
Enter Government Gateway credentials (12 digit ID and password), already have this as I created an account to check my state pension.
They already have my email address but need to confirm it so they send me an email with a code.
Retrieve code from email and enter.
They now send a text to my mobile with an access code.
Retrieve code from mobile and enter.
Now they want me to set a recovery text string (6-12 characters, no numbers or symbols), I set a recovery string
They then ask if I want a backup password for my account, I declined!
Screen now says they owe me £120.80, radio button to claim.
More hoops to confirm my name, address, bank, account details and sort code.
Screen to confirm that my request has been made. I didn't need my P60's
It's my money.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Never mind, Ian, you should be getting £50 from Octopus - they sent us an email today saying they have now credited our energy account with a £50.00 `account-warming present'.
I seem to remember something about that on one of the Coast TV programmes.

Yes Tiz, got my mail today to say that Janet had completed joining Octopus for green energy. Good luck in "the wheel of fortune"

Hurricane Dorian parking itself over the north end of the Bahamas.....Thank god we don't have to deal with that!
Later, the track of the storm is now up the east case of Florida and has eased a bit.

The first pics of the devastation in the Bahamas as Dorian moves away slowly towards the east coast of the US. We are so lucky to live in a moderate climate.
Watching the reports coming in on the Unpleasantness. The BBC live TV from the House is suddenly attracting 6 million + viewers when normally it hovers around 70,000.

See THIS BBC report about the San Francisco city fathers declaring the National Rifle Association a domestic terrorist organisation. What a good move!

Lots of building works at the 'new' church school. Last announcement was that it wouldn't be open until Monday 9th due to an issue with the roof. Pictures in Facebook world show a stack of new engineered trusses stacked up outside, must be a fairly major roof issue...
