Oh...but they will miss the INCOME!
I feel they will review the position and reinstate an annual walk.
:laugh5: "Rocktober"????? ( I wouldn't be surprised. They like their money! And - they get plenty of it. I'm not saying it isn't due and warranted...I'm just saying they get fair dues.)

A little nearer home. Strategically place road works in Foulrige causing 1 mile tail back from Colne to Skipton. Although only about 30 yards long the priority appears to be given to traffic from Skipton. The situation is not helped when the Skipton bus stops midway in the traffic control to pick up its passengers. Todays tip .. find another way to Barlick if you are starting from Colne.

I'm glad I haven't got a car P! No traffic to interfere with our next walk, to the Green!

Wendy. I was told that sometimes when you use the compass app you need to hold the phone flat (back facing down, screen up) and then turn through 360 degrees once or twice and then it calibrates itself somehow. Seems to work for me. I agree that when first turned on they can give very false readings.

I've found in the past that an ordinary compass can be affected by being near double glazing. I guess it must be due to metal in the frames.

This news caught my attention today...perhaps David Whipp could get them to scale up his Barlick Beach?

The garage on Kelbrook Rd (next to the memorial gardens). Early hours of this morning the ATM was on fire and the door has been broken. It's all boarded up now...

Is that why a helicopter was circling over the town around 9AM?
The fact the rain came in at noon and hasn't stopped since. The Aussies would give good money for this water.

If only Cathy! When people here complain about the rain I always point out how lucky we are compared with other people. It's years since we had a drought and water rationing.

If you're concerned about the Vietnamese people who died whilst being smuggled into England, you could do worse than throw a few quid towards someone like this.

It's just a loan rather than a donation so it's a charity that would suit a Yorkshireman. They ask for a 10% donation with the loan, which I'm happy with. The main attraction for me is it keeps these good people out of the clutches of the local black economy money lenders, which must be a good thing.

I've just seen this elsewhere in a forum discussion about decorating...

My experience with decorating recently was papering the hall and stairs. Not knowing how much paper
to buy, I was lucky when my next door neighbour in an identical house said he had just done his and he bought 11 rolls.
So I bought 11 rolls, duly did the hall and stairs and then found I had 2 rolls left?
When I mentioned this to my neighbour he said, that's a coincidence, I had 2 left as well.

I like it! You always bought too much, nowt worse than finding you were short and finding the paper had been discontinued. I once papered the front room at the Hey, more than 25ft square. It wasn't until I had finished I realised I had got the pattern upside down. All the flowers in the floral design faced downwards. I wasn't allowed to forget that one!

Exactly that! I think there might be one original member still going. I wouldn't have chosen to see them but some friends bought tickets for us. Unfortunately my brother & sister in law were due to visit from Devon so we bought two extra tickets for them....but they have just phoned to delay their visit for a couple of weeks hence the spare tickets.

There used to be an old bloke who sold brushes at Otley Market for years. The story goes that one day a young lad set up in opposition selling brushes cheaper than him. He went to the lad and said "i can't understand how you can make money selling cheaper than me, I steal the heads and the stales!" The young lad said " I steal the brushes!" (In Lancashire the 'stale' can become a 'steel'.)
The dog shit I trod in on the Green. It's no laughing matter when you have commando soles!!
The mention of Alexanderplatz on R4 that took me straight back to Stalin Allee in Berlin. In the 1950s the East Germans had rebuilt the frontages to give the impression of recovery but behind were acres and acres of rubble.
