Today I shall be Mainly...
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I have to say, I am happy with your plan to return home, Sue.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
So am I Maz. We monitored very carefully before we came, french and UK government websites, Brittany ferries etc. All fine at the time of departure but its all gone mad since Saturday. We knew we didn’t need to shop more than once, we knew we didn’t need to see anyone if we didn’t have to. We are however going to our English friends for a meal tomorrow night, otherwise we shall return as we came, by ourselves, in our cabin. I am even taking sandwiches so we don’t have to up to the cafe on the boat if there are too many people about. Mind you no one was using it on the way out.

Sounds like a good decision to me Sue. The sandwiches as well!
Today I shall definitely be in the shed! I got all my cooking out of the way yesterday. See what did we have for tea and have a drool!

Just saying I guess...heard they were shutting down all borders...but who knows if they just mean land borders or sea borders too. We are in the same grey area here. They have cancelled international flights but we had an email today saying domestic flights will cancel too. We don’t want to get stuck in quarantine in Darwin for a flight we have booked in May. If we cancel out, they take our money. If we wait for them to cancel, we get a refund.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Good! There are still flights leaving UK for destinations in Spain and Germany even though both are on lock-down. They are being allowed to repatriate nationals. The same should apply to the ferries and Sue and Bob will be fine.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We still have a ferry , we have not been told otherwise but fear we will be. There are worse places to be stuck.
We are out in the country 3 km to the nearest village,5 or 6 to the nearest supermarket. We have a freezer full of home grown produce and toilet rolls. We are allowed to shop once a day but there is a 6.00 pm curfew. Bob is in contact with Brittany ferries. Apparently there is a form we can download today that we fill in and carry with us when we travel to the ferry. We are packing this morning in case we get a last minute ferry.

( you keep toilet rolls in the freezer, Sue
)
Our story is that we booked way back in October/November to go and spend 12 days with step-son...who works in a remote area.
In the meantime, the lad went to Thailand, flew back before the curfew, and has spent 2 weeks in isolation at his own expense. So he no longer has the holiday leave up his sleeve to spend with us anyway.
Now we can’t cancel our flights and accommodation without losing the prepaid lot.
We just have to hope that both the airlines and hotel have a conscience. I can’t see us going. Unfortunately they have to make the move if we are to get anything back.
Sad situation all round, and there must be millions being ripped off.

What for Sue? Whatever it is if you do a straight Google search and add oneguyfrombarlick to the search text it may find it if it's been cached.
Good luck with the ferry and I'll bet you are OK, they have a responsibility to repatriate, it'll be in the small print somewhere!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I have had a query about a Sarah Widdup. I have put in a report 10 years ago that she married Thomas Howarth, but the person who contacted me has a different marriage. I thought all my research was original from Parish records and such, but I had a feeling someone on the site told me this one.

I keep my toilet rolls in “ my bottom drawer”... ( the bottom drawer of my bathroom cupboard of course)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I think we are ok. Between 2 bathrooms, we have about 16 rolls...

The definitive answer is no, not within the archive as it is in effect a massive graphic representation of the former site and no longer in database form. Stanley's advice will work if the pages are not damaged. The mirroring operation only recovered about 50% of the site so you take pot luck. I would also add "archive" after oneguyfrombarlick in the search string, that will target the archive rather than the live site.

I did what Stanley suggested and found what I wanted thanks. Apparently my original information came from the Parish registers of St Bartholomew's at Colne. I possibly saw them at Barlick or Colne library.PanBiker wrote: ↑17 Mar 2020, 09:33The definitive answer is no, not within the archive as it is in effect a massive graphic representation of the former site and no longer in database form. We have at home, here I have collected together all the rolls from the three bathrooms, plus 3 left from the ones we bought last week. Today I bought a normal pack of 18 to take home

We have had tickets emailed to is for Thursday afternoon, so we can get there before the 6.00 pm curfew. Hope Macron doesn’t change the regulations again . we have to stay in the cabin and take our own food . We have booked a hotel for Thursday night, driving home Friday.

Don't give up on the sailing until you have heard direct from them Sue. As Maz says, if the worst case happens you have your base to hole up in!
Aiming for shed.....

Progress is being made, valve is finished. Piston, rod and clevis now! This cylinder is almost complete and ready for fitting.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
The last ferry us in the morning, ours was the afternoon. We can’t get there for the morning as it's 4 hours Away and because of the curfew we can’t leave early enough. Today is a different mindset. Instead of worrying about going home we are planning our jobs. Bob has all the pieces to finish the garden railway so will continue with that. I had the foresight to lack my laptop so can continue with my book. The weather is glorious with no rain forecast for 10 days so I shall do some major gardening tasks in the orchard. We have paint so we can do some decorating. We have ordered prescriptions from our surgery online explaining the problem and Claire will pick them up and post them to us. This morning Claire and Erin face timed us on our iPad so we have visual contact too. AND WE HAVE TOILET ROLLS .Stanley wrote: ↑18 Mar 2020, 02:44 Don't give up on the sailing until you have heard direct from them Sue.
