Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
P has found it. I'm tempted to give a drop dead clue but I think you may be close to finding it. I thought it was fascinating when I discovered it by chance, still no clear theory to explain it after all these years.

I haven't looked at the spoiler. Is it Eyam, Derbyshire, where the people sacrificed themselves to the plague rather than come out for food and help, and end up spreading it?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Let's knock this one on the head, look up Skeleton Lake or better still just open the spoiler. It's still an unexplained phenomenon.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
It's not difficult to explain how people died there or even why they are from different places and at different times. The really difficult thing is knowing which explanation, is correct!

Good guess but no. I think those are just white clothing and in itself that's a clue. Here's another for you, look to the South.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Well done Tiz!! Spot on. That's exactly what it is at one of the old whaling stations that were abandoned. Remember the start of the Falklands affair and the Argentinian scrap men? This is what they were after, the equipment abandoned there.
I shall have to put my thinking cap on.....
We've done this one before but let's test your memory. Happy days at Hey Farm in 1978 and the hazards of gardening on a farm! However, the object of interest is the round stone with plants in it. Can anyone tell me what it is?
And a supplementary, two for the price of one! What's the triangular object in the corner where the two walls meet?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I remember the original stone posting. The triangular thing is a baby sheep. I believe the call them Lambs.
Which brings me nicely to a story that actually happened to me. Taking an Australian visitor a ride round Downham etc: to show her the countryside, by-the -way, she was a very intelligent mature lady who had travelled the world, suddenly asked me to stop. She jumped out of the car, climbed a gate, ran into the field and started taking photographs. When she got back in I asked what was that all about. "I'm taking photos of the sheep, we don't see any sheep in Australia". Totally nonplussed I drove on.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Well...we don’t see sheep with TAILS in Australia, and black faced sheep are about but are somewhat of a novelty.
We have a friend who raises black faced sheep, so not quite the novelty for us any more, but all tails are docked as they get fly strike out here.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Sorry P but the triangular object isn't a lamb! (I think you knew that). Thanks for keeping stum about the stone!

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Plaques, that was an amusing story. I can well understand why your friend hasn’t seen many sheep in Australia. It’s because they are mainly kept on very large Outback Stations , thousands of square kilometres in size.
In 2018 Australia had almost 75 million sheep. We know they are there but we don’t see them.
Australia runs on the Sheep’s back, as they say.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
The triangular object looks like a ladder for picking apples ( or other fruit/berries)
But it could be for wedging a sheep securely while you do unmentionable things to it for its own good.
