Morning
Bob is always interested in your makes Stanley. I am impressed with both of you give me a sewing machine any day!
Yesterday there was an article on BBC news online about lack of data coming through. There was a map dated June 21 st showing Rochdale as 4 th highest positive cases but way below Leicester. I put it on Rochdale past and present who took it down straight away saying the info was old ie April. I said it was new June 21 st. Then ensued an almighty discussion about the figures and I was made to feel rather stupid. I wrote to admin who said it was there duty to put current info up and not old info . They then quoted this weeks figures which are much lower. Later in the day it hit the news and an article from Sky news was published on the site. I was fuming and thought I was owed an apology. The admin was privately nice to me about it however. What concerned me was that the date of 21 June seems to be the one they used for Leicester. Our numbers are now well within the average for a town our size. We will see. Its a Trump scenario. Our numbers have gone up because we test! Actually joking apart two tt three weeks ago a number of testing centres popped up around the town and this caused a surge in recorded positives. Last week the numbers dropped considerably as this testing settled down. If there is a lockdown, which we now doubt, it had better be after I get my hair done !
Erin has her first of two days school today. I hope she enjoys it. I hope Claire enjoys Erins day too! I think she is ready for some Claire time! Next week they are going to see Erins potential new school up at Lostock Hall near Preston, where they hope to move within the next month or so.
Yesterday I tidied my sewing room and collected together many yards of fabric I will never use, much of which came in a bargain sale bag ( all good stuff used) . I shall put it on gumtree for a tenner. The room is now sparkling clean and tidy and took hours!
Today is pilates followed by morning coffee with a pilates friend ( who is also an old school friend of Julia and Ed which we both laugh about) She is bringing Some money over for Ed for one of his little outdoor wine tables that he has mass produced in his workshop during lockdown . Unless it brightens we shall be sitting in the conservatory with the door open and not the garden. We shall take the money and collect the table when we visit Coventry for the day on Saurday
Nothing else planned for the day as yet. Take it as it comes
Have a good day

I'm having a sit after another two and a half hours in the shed. Bob will certainly be interested in today's Shed Matters, exciting stuff and problems he will immediately recognise. I'm keeping stum until I post the whole story.

If you've read Shed Matters you'll know that I managed to stop the engine performing by tightening all the joints up in the linkages. Today I shall find out where the fault is and cure it. All part of the process of commissioning. Just a question of being patient and digging. The good thing is I know it's a runner, it goes liker hell on 80PSI!

Morning
Another grey day! Bob is off to the market this morning as we shall be off to Coventry for the day tomorrow. He wants to get some of the lovely french patisseries to take with us for dessert. I have an online dance exercise class but then afterwards will do some cleaning as we won’t be here to do it tomorrow. I shall save changing the bedding till Sunday or Monday and fingers crossed for a finer day.
We had a lovely morning with my friend Gill yesterday, in fact she didn’t leave till 1.15 pm, so it was a late lunch. Afterwards we took the opportunity of a break in the weather to go for a walk, going along the old railway line path to Tesco in Whitworth to get some money from the hole in the wall. It was nearly deserted not like the weekends. We then cut up on to to the hills to loop back , just over 6 miles in total. We got drizzled on once but nothing too serious. Once back we had time for a sit down and a cup of tea before my yoga class. Once again the sun came out in time to blind me where i put my mat on the lounge floor.
The discussion about Rochdale COVID numbers rages on with the council and many others quoting the latest figures which are about half the numbers quoted online by the government for June 21 st. Its amazing how many different official numbers there are! One thing is clear is our numbers about one fifth of Leicester so I think there was a degree of panic stirring that went on. We shall continue to be as careful as we can keeping our outside contact to a minimum. Apart from seeing Julia this Saturday, and taking some packing boxes to Claire later this morning we will curtail any further longer trips till all is clear.
Hope some sun arrives soon , we have rather a lot of unripe strawberries waiting. I think we will then get a glut. We had a bowlful the other night. They were delicious.
Busy morning and afternoon for us I think

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
You are busy as usual Sue, I wish I had your energy! The strawberry 'problem' sound like a good one to me as long as mildew doesn't strike.
I can't report a joyful morning, it's been complicated. No serious problems, just that I am identifying where the problems are and it's more complicated than I thought at first. Having said that, this is the interesting bit for me, the fine tuning. More later in Shed matters. Jack, the Green and breakfast are calling. I have got my early morning Co-op run for essentials done which is good. On with the day!

Took the Camper for a country drive, because it has been sat so long. It didn’t miss a beat...

Morning
Up and out today to miss the supposed holiday traffic heading up norf, though we shall be travelling in the opposite direction. We shall see. Its certainly holiday in the lakes weather from our experience. The forecast is for it to be drier later so we should be OK .Claire and family are off to Blackpool zoo too.
Looking forward to seeing Julia and family, it’s been a long time.
Speak tomorrow
Have a good day everyone

If it fines up enough I'll 'think' about trimming the edge otherwise I'll be pondering how my different car works. More bells and whistles than Starship Enterprise. I feel a headache coming on already.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Remember when heated rear screens were the thing to have? Cars have come a long way since the days of rotten sills!
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I remember when “ lay back” seats were such an asset to courting couples at drive-in picture theatres, China.
We didn’t want the de-mister then.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I had an interesting experience once in a drive in movie theatre in California. I remember a friend saying to us "You mean like the 60s?!" The windows didn't mist up!
However, back to the topic... I shall be cleaning Kahara's engine and doing odd maintenance jobs. I have also decided to spend £400 I can't afford on a set of castings for another beam engine. I reckon that means I can't die for another 6 or 9 months, I shall have to finish it!
Ken, I hope you have better luck than Mick. His 14 month old Rav4 died in January and to date the combined resources of his garage and Toyota haven't managed to fix it. They are currently deciding whether to offer him a new one.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Today we shall be doing very little to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary, how time flies! We were going to have some friends over for a drink outside on the patio but it's not quite the day for that!
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Awwww...Congratulations! Hope you manage to have SOME fun. Sorry the weather has let you down.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning all
Yet another dreary, windy, damp day with more to come for the rest of the week. What a shame it will affect your plans Wendy to celebrate. 45 a good number, catching us up
We had a fabulous day in Coventry. It was grey, cloudy but dry and warm. We didn’t do a lot, just spent the day enjoying each others company. We gave Ed and Julia a break by taking the girls for a walk to the shop to buy goodies for an adventure! They were camping out in the garden last night, hope it went well. They were planning on a film on the laptop, and tasty snacks .
The roads were very quiet on the way back and not exceptionally busy on the way there. We passed a few caravans but certainly not the queues reported online this morning. Thus we made very good travelling time in both directions. There was no evidence of excessive drinking at pubs, all seemed very quiet, thank goodness.
Today I shall change the bedding, its looking like drying in the drier again. I have yoga at 10.30, other than that, I may tidy a bookshelf or two or do some of my patchwork mats
Have a good day.

Morning Sue! We have sun at the moment in Barlick but it will be fleeting I think and then a light shower, we'll see.
I have had an hour in the shed doing good works, I'll post later when I have walked Jack. All is going well so far....

I must say we didn’t either Wendy, though we had an absolutely wonderful experience aboard a “silver service” dinner tram in New Zealand, which was absolutely fabulous for an evening out, and luckily within walking ( staggering) distance of our hotel room. Good planning that one!
Otherwise, it is mostly down to whatever I stick in the oven either at home or camping.
We have out 25th coming up in January and He is putting pressure on me to choose what I want to do....how can you?...things being what they are...we may all be back in lock down by then, or where we choose to go might be... ( and I would hate to lose money over it).
I’m still dithering about my upcoming birthday. I think it will be an overnight stay at my son’s and I will shout Pizza!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I have made decisions for my birthday in the last hour, if it helps Wendy.
We will stay overnight with my son ( in the city) and we have booked into a Chinese Restaurant which we have frequented over the past 40 years ( same owners). It is a bit “trapped in time” but the food is good, and I remember taking my son there when he was a toddler. I remember the owners when they were very young, and they remember me the same. They remember my son when he was 2 years old. ( he is 41 now)
Should be a lovely meal. I look forward to it.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Sounds good Maz. I arranged family and friend get togethers here for both my 50th and 60th birthday celebrations which were both enjoyable but hard work and I can't face doing anything like that again! My brother and sister in law have suggested coming up to stay for a couple of days now restrictions are easing and we might get some walking done.
I would like to go up Pendle Hill, haven't done that for a while!
