Today I shall be Mainly...
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
From tomorrow onwards, we find our calendar quite free...no more birthdays, visits, guests, medical appts, etc. our busy period seems to be over. Phew....we can sit back and relax a bit. That is amazingly liberating.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Congrats Maz and Mr Feb on your 25th Wedding Anniversary. Gosh... Well Done...

I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Happy anniversary Maz, 25 years, a good one to celebrate. We hit 50 this year, but I think our anniversary cruise will not happen.
It was a glorious day yesterday if cold. The forecast snow never happened either during the day or last night. We had a crunchy but short safe walk just along the old railway track to the lodge and back. There were lots out walking taking advantage of the weather, and all being vey polite with social distancing. t The lodge was frozen and looked beautiful, I even feel a painting coming on. By the time we got back and I had made soup it was a late lunch. I wrote some letters, did some washing and some jigsaw and that was my day gone. The evening was pilates and yoga. It was hard at times trying to modify some of the movements as suggested by the physio but I managed. It will be easier next time as I now know what to do, as do the teachers.
Late afternoon I received my new phone but still have no emailed contract so I do not know when my new contract starts or any of the details. I had a recorded message read out to me but was also promised a written copy. So until that I arrives I will not be doing anything with the phone. I shall contact them this morning. Today I shall do some of the things I intended yesterday , ie tackle my unfinished objects box, and do some more jigsaw . I need the table next week for an online art lesson. If the weather is ok we will do another walk similar to yesterday
We had a bit of good news yesterday. If you remember Briony was badly affected by lockdown last time and has never really recovered to be her old self. Julia managed to get some help from child mental health services . As a result of that she has been offered a full time school place during this lockdown. Julia is so relieved as she really didn’t think either of them would be able to cope this time round. It resolves some of the computer issues too, as at the moment there is only one computer for use by the whole family for online learning and both parents working from home. We are trying to resolve that one. I feel for all the families who are in a similar or worse position and are unable to resolve it.
So I think thats it from me
Stay safe everybody.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
You're right Sue, that must be a nightmare for parents with kids at home on lockdown. I feel so sorry for them. I have commented elsewhere on my opinion of what Williamson should do about his promises on that subject.

Dead simple morning in the shed. Holes drilled in the right place one at a time. Nowt to it! Just care and thought as usual....
Not going for a walk, almost two hours on my feet in the shed counts as exercise! (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.) Now for breakfast!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
The Xmas decorations came down last night so today I shall take the tree down to Lothersdale where they are collected and used for environmental projects such as preventing riverbank erosion. Col plans to set off before me and walk down so I can collect him and bring him home. I advised him against his original idea of coming with me and walking back, which is quite a climb, after a bit of a sulk he surprised me by agreeing.
My farrier is due this afternoon so I'll be bringing the ponies in early and cleaning them up a bit. I must warn him about the track!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Happy Anniversary Maz and Febby, congratulations!
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Thanks Wendy. We enjoyed a half a Pizza (the rest has gone in the freezer) and a couple of glasses of Red. Full to bursting now, so settling back on the couch...slightly dozy...until it is time for bed. Hubby says he is just resting his eyes, but I know we have challenged the carbs tonight. Back on Salad tomorrow.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
It was two years ago tonight ( our wedding anniversary) when I stood up out of my lounge chair (to pop off for a wee), when my life changed forever. An immense pain suddenly shot down my right leg, I couldn’t walk, could hardly breathe.
I screamed...and hobbled to bed...launching myself face down...couldn’t move or sleep all night. The pain was unbearable.
Somehow hubby got me in the car at first light and got me to the hospital. Told I was at great risk of paraplegia, bowel and bladder problems.
That was a spinal disc ruptured. It has been a long journey since then
( I have another 4 spinal discs bulging)
I live ever day to the Max.
We walk every day and ride bikes on a good day too. We eat well and take care of each other. I try not to do stupid things...

Well done Maz and hang in there. Sally was given the same warning with her bulging discs.
I believe it's your Silver Wedding Anniversary in which case congratulations.

I too have numerous bulging discs hence the reason I follow my consultants advice , after I had one removed following the same warning, keep moving, do pilates.

Was it the Silver Anniversary?
(We don’t give each other gifts, but I shall pass that news on!)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Swimming is very good too, but I tend to overdo it because I love swimming, so now I avoid it

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Swimming is very good too But not if you swim the breaststroke which puts quite a big load on your back. Then you need to sit down and relax for a good hour until your muscles firm up again so no cycling.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I shall not be swimming, walking long distances or pilates. However I shall be in the shed for a couple of hours and then soaking my feet in preparation for the foot nurse who comes at 09:30!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
I love swimming but can only do breast stroke. I did not learn to swim until I was in my mid 30s. However our local pool has been shut since March. We used to go every Monday morning at9.00 am, when there were only about 6 of us in the pool
Yesterday we managed a lovely 4 mile walk. In places there was no snow or ice in others it was thick. In the latter cases we walked on the grass and not the paths. The small reservoir was frozen a large patch of white in an area that was mainly green . IN the photo what looks like river of white in the distance is the footpath. It was another late lunch because of the walk. I spent the rest of the day trying to set up my new phone. What a nightmare. I have at last managed to transfer the number but none of my apps, photos, or contact list. I shall contact the help line today. The instructions with the phone said to simply....There was no simple about it.by 6.00 pm I was exhausted.
Today we may get a walk in before it snows but we need some sun to thaw any ice first. At the moment it is thick fog. I have pilates at 10.00 so it may have cleared after that. Today I intend trying to understand my family tree program, plus a little bit of jigsaw for ‘light relief . I feel another technological battle coming on Have a good and safe day everyone

Must admit...that jigsaw...looks difficult.
I might need to sip some wine to unleash my inner eye, with THAT one
( mind you, the most difficult jigsaws I have done come together beautifully if I just have the winter sun on my back through a window, and a good cup of tea in hand)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning Sue, cold here as well. I have not had what I would describe as a walk this morning, too slippy and too bloody cold! I had an hour in the shed but it was cold in there as well!

I have my links finished. Now we move on to the other parts of the Valve gear.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Its all white or so Claire thought but when we got it out of the box on the reverse side the pieces are covered in letters either A,B,C,D,E. or F, so it is a actually 6 small interlocking jigsaws. The pieces are tiny and do not stay together when you put a piece in or take one out the whole lot move. The pieces are all in groups of similar pieces too, so you may try about 7 before you get the right one. Should keep us going for a bit ! Its a 1000 piecerMarilyn wrote: ↑07 Jan 2021, 08:21 Must admit...that jigsaw...looks difficult.![]()

I do ‘t think there is much chance of a walk here today. Its still dark as well as freezing fog

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Well put the kettle on Sue, make some strong mugs of tea. I shall be over shortly, and we shall get this jigsaw sorted! I do need winter sunlight over my back. If you can arrange that, it should be a doddle...)
(PS....I won’t need cake or biscuits..)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

I shall be in the shed making tiny cranks for Margaret's beam engine. I might get more exercise in as it could be better underfoot. Like you Sue I ditched exercise yesterday.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Thanks for that gem Maz
Yesterday was not a nice day, fog hung around for most of it, it sleeted, it rained it snowed, though not much of the latter. We had a light covering overnight with more to come on and off during the day. I spent some more time trying to sort my phone. I had a long useless online chat with a representative of THREE, who just kept saying rest assured your account is ok. I kept replying I was not assured because of no apps, no contacts , no photos etc. I tried a few recommended transfer apps and eventually got my photos but not my saved videos of Eve and Erin that came through on Whats app. Most of the transfer apps seem to work on the old phone but not the new and vice versa. I was so sick of technology I did not do the genealogy I planned but did jigsaw instead. If I get time today I will phone and speak to someone as it is easier to explain the problem.
This morning is dance exercise followed by a quick turnaround ready for zoom U3A art ( or u3a as they now want to be written!). It will be a late lunch and more jigsaw I think, after what will probably be a long phone call to THREE.
Have a good day, stay safe. Take care if you go outside it could be bad under foot.
