Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
It's horses for courses isn't it. I have examples of the sort of pain you describe Sue but my attitude is different. I wait and see what happens. I reckon I can expect bits to start failing or giving trouble as I get older and there's not a lot of point fighting what might be inevitable. I have a mixed bag of results, some major problems (Like my back) correct themselves over the years. Other minor pains just seem to persist. But that's just my way Sue and I am older and have possibly had a harder life than you.
Today I shall be doing very little. I had the AstraZeneca jab (made in Liverpool) last night. No problems of any kind but I shall have an easy day just in case. I prepared well and did all the shopping yesterday and Carl delivers my butcher's order this evening on the way home.

Morning
Unexpectedly nice day yesterday, not as forecast and it was still light at nearly 5.15 pm . We managed a 4 + mile walk taking in a couple of new paths and routes, at one point walking along a very wet valley bottom along the course of a stream. We found a fe other routes on the mal leading off from there but they are definitely dry weather and light picnic sort of routes. At one point I sunk very nicely into the mud. We saw three people with dogs on our walk. Pretty good isolation stuff. All were very socially distancing aware apart from the dogs as each desired a friendly chat. The walk took us 2 mikes beyond Canterbury in our virtual walk so we are just 15 miles to Dover.
Other than walk I did a couple of loads of washing....where does it all come from? I finished my art project, it was OK , like it was meant to be but needs more practice with the technique. . I started chapter 3 and assessment 3 of Celts and chatted to our friends Wendy and Barry on the phone. Today is dance exercise, zoom art, and then it depends on the weather.
Have a good day everyone
I see the winter sky in the background is not very visible

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
As things have turned out Sue my activities are zero beyond maintaining life! Both Susan's Mick and I had the AstraZeneca vaccination on Thursday and both have the same symptoms, incipient Man Flu! So we are both taking the same course, spending a lot of time in bed. Susan tells me that by the third day I will be back on form if her experience is anything to go by.
Incidentally, I begin to realise that when scientists refer to 'side effects' they mean quite severe ones. What I have is nothing more that being achy and out of sorts. That's quite bad enough thank you! I shall be back in bed quite early, yesterday it was 08:00 and I slept for another four hours. When I got up I had a short walk to the postbox about half a mile.... Good to breathe some cold fresh air!

Morning
Sorry to hear about the side effects Stanley. My cousin had the Astra Zeneca and she too felt rough the next day but was fine by day 2. As for my foot which you referred to yesterday , the physio is clear that it is not an aging thing. If I turn my right foot or fkex it I feel like a knife is slicing through. That is only intermittent in the sense that I don’t normally twist my foot that way . The left foot has a similar but milder version of the same. The left also has a problem at the base of the heel brought on by only a slight flexing of the foot, which feel s like a dagger going upwards in my foot That is not a normal ageing process , a d I feel not normal and warrants attention
Today is Bacup market and we were late waking so this will be short. A busy day yesterday going one from activity to another and an u expected nice afternoon for a walk.
No plans for the day yesterday....not had ti e to think.
must go and shower
Take care

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I was supposed to be meeting a friend for a walk this morning but it is sleeting heavily up here now. The ponies are stopping inside so it will be a pony care morning. Yesterday when i was mucking out the stables I was suddenly overwhelmed with sadness over the loss of Dennis. I wept over his headcollar, over his rugs, his stable door, the hens, the cats, the fields, the ponies and Colin. Felt better for it.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Lovely Wendy, I think that's what grief is and how it works. I get occasional episodes like that over both Janet and Big Harry. I'm suddenly overwhelmed. I reckon it's a safety valve, I always feel better afterwards.
Sue, I'm feeling as though I am over it now and that's after about 36 hours of aches so par for the course I suppose. I haven't heard from Mick.....
I have spent the last hour cooking veggies! Standards must be maintained!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I was right, the after effects from the jab are gone but I shall play it safe and have one more easy day. There's no rush and from the look of the weather no great incentive to get out for exercise! We'll see later.
I could do something productive in the shed with my Burgess grinder.
Apart from that, keeping warm, eating well and reading. Not a bad programme for a crumbly on a day like this!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
It is rather cold and windy and we are expecting snow, not just because of the forecast but because it usually snows on Feb 7 th .
, today being Bob’s birthday and I could count on both hands the number of times it hasn’t snowed. We shall see.
We have nothing planned particularly, not even a walk if the forecast of heavy snow appears. We do have a zoom link with our friends Jean and Bob at noon, our fortnightly contact. The girls also usually contact us for a chat on our respective birthdays .I shall be cooking salmon en croute for tea and that will be the height of the celebrations. Once we are allowed to get out and about elsewhere , and there is anywhere to go for a meal we shall have a joint birthday celebration. Probably mid May by the sounds of the news
No doubt Bob will be out in his workshop making the steam train he was left by his friend who died, and I will be finishing Erins birthday dress.
Have a good day everyone

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Give Bob my best please Sue... I am better now and have been in the shed.

I've spent an hour and a half refurbishing my small 5" Burgess grinder and tomorrow I'll take the vibrating 8" grinder out and replace it with this.
Now for breakfast and Broadcasting House. (I do feel so much better!)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
It's dry and cold here. I shall have the walk Sue but wrap up well, dry cold is OK I think.
Half an hour later. I had my short walk Sue, nearer -5C here I reckon, it bites your face. Isolated flakes of snow blowing on the wind and stinging your face your face. But the air is like wine and well worth the discomfort.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I woke this morning thinking about Wendy and Col and the snow. Glad to see there has been no overnight fall, their early trip may be all right.
I shall finish swapping my grinder, I'm fed up with the vibration. (I can see me buying another grinder.....)
Apart from that the usual tasks of looking after myself and having second sleep. I'm well over the jab side effects now.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Its a very cold morning with a very light dusting of snow, not the huge storm forecast, but we shall see. We spoke to our friends Jean and Bob on zoom yesterday morning and did a 4+ mile walk in the afternoon, walking against a bitterly cold wind and occasional sleet and hail. We decided to walk low rather than high as there was snow on the hills we were initially heading to.
I carried on with Erins dress in the afternoon and it just now needs to be hemmed. I made a rather large three course meal for Bobs birthday which we ate over a 90 minute period. Shortly after that my restless leg syndrome kicked in. I was in quite a bit of discomfort so went to bed at 10.00pm. I have slept over 8 hours and feel much better. We can’t identify any trigger that brings it on and i can go weeks without an attack of it. The medication I take is preventative and not a cure so once it kicks in the only cure is sleep in a warm bed.
Today we are having the boiler serviced so have to be up, breakfasted and cleared away by 9.00 am . We shall keep out of the way whilst he is busy, and will hopefully be finished in time for my pilates at 10.00 am. Otherwise the day will follow the usual routine of a bit of sewing for me, workshop for Bob, jigsaw, maybe a walk if it doesn’t snow.
Have a good day everyone.

Hee hee, he said he might do when I spoke to him yesterday. I can see the logic in it..... He did agree that he's a bad passenger Wendy. We are having a light dusting of snow.
