MYSTERY OBJECTS
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
It was only a guess. The small profiles would suggest a small machine, a Swiss Automatic rather than a turret lathe. Could be brass as an alternative material. But really I don't know.
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Are they used in jewellery making?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Ah Peter! You've got it. They are Ivory cutters for an ornamental turning lathe. I have scores of them, all beautifully made of of high carbon steel and sharp as razors and unfortunately no use for them!.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
It might be your pic but that doesn't matter to Google. The Google Reverse Images search will match it easily to similar ones on the web. You and I are caught out with that! Beaten by AI!

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
You hook it over a ladder and hang a bucket off it when working on a chimney?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Almost but not quite Peter. A bit more complicated than that. Never seen one used on a chimney.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Well done Gloria, you remembered correctly. These were used on ladders as a sort of scaffolding. Here's Peter Tatham using them on his house in Tims Terrace, Milnrow in 1986.
