That's very expensive as far as I am concerned Kev!
Yesterday, eggs for breakfast. Pork pie, olives, peas and veggies for tea.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Liver, bacon, onion and bell pepper casserole for tea. That made a change.

Oh, righto. Aldi have quite a selection of different pizzas in their freezer department. I'm sure some of those are less than £2. Might be worth the walk now you have a shopping trolley.

It's Sunday Buffet at the Barlick Raj today, Paulette's birthday is a good excuse to partake (not that we need an excuse for a curry).

The Raj did us proud, Paulette was presented with a cake complete with a Roman candle.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had pasta with passata and spanish sausage from a batch made last week. Popped it in the oven with a bit of mature cheddar on top.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I casseroled stewing steak and spicy chicken wings with tomatoes. I had the last of the current batch of veggies with wings and steak X two for breakfast and tea.
A new batch of veggies, carrots, cabbage, celery and peas is cooked and sat in the fridge.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Hot smoked salmon with fennel to start, fillet steak with chantenay carrots, roasted parsnips and new potatoes, my niece's wedding breakfast.
I passed on the potatoes but did indulge in a roasted parsnip.

Noticed this good advice from the BBC website. Kind of them to point out what a useful food potatoes can be. I'd never have thought of that on my own. I suppose you can buy them in all supermarkets? Can't see any reference to 'Tater 'Ash though.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
David, you and I know about potatoes but I suppose the Beeb were aiming at the kitchen illiterate (if there is such a b east). Like Kev I don't eat as many as I did but find them essential in small quantities.
No potatoes in the diet this week as yet. Yesterday it was steak and wings with veggies X two.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
How did potatoes become popular in India?
It’s thought the Portuguese introduced potatoes to the Malabar Coast in the south west of India, where they were known as batata. Later in the 17th century, the British East India Company introduced potatoes – known as alu – to Bengal and beyond, and incentivised the poorer members of the community by giving them free potato plants and a small payment to grow them.
It's the constant pushing of certain themes by the BBC which irritates me. No mention of Sir Walter Raleigh. Probably a myth, but it's our myth
I'm surprised they didn't get the Irish potato famine into the piece.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I mentioned my occasional use of spuds yesterday. I cooked this yesterday, a rib steak casseroled with a large onion, 3 tomatoes and the usual spices and condiments. For the last hour spuds were added and the whole cooked with the lid off. Superb and wouldn't have been the same without the thinly sliced spuds.
So breakfast was sausage and veggies. Tea was casseroled steak with a few extra veggies.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I casseroled wings and steak so breakfast was the last of the original steak casserole and tea was the new one with veggies that also got cooked yesterday.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Did too much tonight - this is what was left over. So that's tomorrow's tea sorted then. The 'sauce' on the chicken breast was an ad hoc affair. Start with a couple of spoonfuls of of pizza topping, add some single cream, a splash of Linghams chilli sauce, and a dash of Lea and Perrins. This I have learned is the 'Umami' element. I'd do it again, but some experimenting with the proportions is needed. The chips were a reckless buy at Aldi last night - said to be triple cooked in beef dripping. They were Ok.
Bon appetit. . . .
