I've had the same experience but with juice from very ripe fruit going down my windpipe. As you say Sue, very frightening.
The design committee have been working all night on a knotty little problem of aligning rough castings. I think they have found a solution. I shall be in the shed putting it into practice this morning. Bookie watch could be on as the forecast is better for the rest of the day.

Morning

Yes hopefully a better day today. Yesterday was horrid and it was nearly dark by 2.30pm. After doing the ironing I spent the day sewing , making another pair of pilates leggings. I have found a supplier of fabric on Amazon at a bargain price of £7.99:a metre, and the pattern only takes just over a metre. I can’t resist the fabulous colours and patterns. There were no more repeats of mishaps like the day before :laugh5:

Despite the weather we switched the pond filter on yesterday, keeping it going for several hours. Over the last couple of weeks we have developed a thick layer of blanket weed so I applied an intense treatment last week. It came highly recommended. Yes it did the job but it was a powder and now the pond is covered in a grey powdery film and looks very unsightly indeed. I think it has cleared a bit but i am not impressed, especially as some blanket weed has re appeared. As for the fish they are either in hiding or have been eaten by a heron that I saw in the garden last week !

This morning i shall finish the leggings, this afternoon we are walking down to the bank, the post office and the Hermes shop and will probably do a circuit to come home. I think it will be all pavement stuff as our normal routes will be rather waterlogged. Other than that I have no plans. Pilates this evening, last one of the week now I have art on Thursday morning.

Have a good day all

Morning

I finished my pilates leggings in the morning and in the afternoon we went for our walk. It ended up just about 4.5 miles as we decided to do a longer circuit on the way back, via Turner Brothers. The clearing of the grounds continues and the old car park has reappeared complete with its white markings. Even the footpath we use has been cleared on either side. It was nice to see it was light till well after 5.00 pm having been a sunny day. I had the greenhouse open all day to try and dry the floor which is swimming with water. It must flow under the frame but we have no idea why.

This morning is art at Haslingden, but I have no other plans, take it as it comes. Have a good day all

Morning Sue.... Glad you got some dry walking in. I was out early this morning to try to get a picture of our Jubilee fountain with it's lights on. No such luck! It was dark.

There will only be an hour in the shed this morning as early doors shopping at the Co-op will kick in at 07:00. It makes so much sense! Weather looks good for bookie watch later.

Morning

The new windows are fitted, and there was a noticeable difference in the temperature in the room last night. The previous windows had started to develop condensation inside, and we were just going to change the panes but enquired about triple glazing. We were persuaded against them because of the price, however we opted for an updated, more efficient version of the double glazing. The fitters were extremely efficient and very tidy indeed, snd they finished in time for us to go out to lunch.

This week I have spent sometime researching on the internet for both a new needle for my little toy sewing machine and a new case lock for my 1894 German machine. I have found both eventually and ordered them. Once fitted I can sell the german machine but I am keeping the little one. Bob has made a wooden plinth for it.

Its Bacup market this morning. I have no other plans , have a good day, its due to rain all day

Morning Sue, we're promised rain as well but it's not arrived yet, the sky is still mostly clear but I fear it will get us in the end. I like Bob's plinth, he has the same router bit as mine!

I decided to go for drilling and tapping holes in me castings! I started with the front lid because that's more complicated and it took me an hour and a half to get to the image. I knocked off then as the next stage is just as complicated. Quiet progress and no mistakes. :biggrin2:

On the small machine there appears to be a screw head sticking up on the sewing platten. I would have expected this to be flush with the surface. Will make a good talking point for parties (shouldn't say that should I?) Now where to put it?

More quiet engine building..... Best two hours of the day!
Looks as though it's going to be a wet cold day, so glad my shed is heated and part of the house. Apart from comfort it means that I don't get rust which is the bane of most shed-owners lives.

Morning

I would have expected it too but it is the right screw or certainly as I received it from the seller. You can see it in both photographs. It also matches the less rusty part of said sewing table. I don’t think it had ever been dismantled before.

As for where it will go, it will go in a display cabinet in tge dining along with other well loved treasures ( and wine glasses!). I put some felt on the bottom of the plinth to stop it scratching.

What a dreadful day yesterday, cold, wet and nearly dark at 3.00 pm. I sewed all day, making a summer top in anticipation of better weather to come and a long awaited golden wedding anniversary cruise in May . I shall continue with the top today. I bought the fabric in the little fabric shop in Norfolk in June, also memories of warmer sunnier days. Its Sunday so its zoom art day with Briony, and this afternoon my pilates friend Gill is coming round for a cuppa and a natter. We were going to walk down to the Edwardian tea rooms in Healey Dell but that depends on how wet and windy it is. Bob will be put at a Model Engineers meeting.

Apart from the ironing I think thats my day. Have a good one, stay warm and dry. Oh yes we had a visit from the heron yesterday, but there are no fish to be seem, although at least one is lurking in the warmer bottom of the pond. A more unusual visitor to our bird feeders ia greater spotted woodpecker. Its visited two days in a row now.

Morning

Yesterday went as planned. Gill and I had a lovely afternoon nattering sat in the lounge, it was far too wet to go out .

Hopefully a drier day today! Erin and Claire are coming over this morning as it is Erins half term. We are making home made pasta for lunch . Erin loves cooking. No doubt she will want to paint or do some craft afterwards. I have art this evening and there had better be tables and heating or I will walk out again.

Have a good day all
