A drastic cut back in screen time has helped my eyes so same again today. I'll take a view on the shed later.
So not sure what I'll be doing apart from KBO!

Morning

Yes Stanley using the screen for a long time affects my eyes as does continuous close work. Art was good last night, warm, nicely laid out with plenty of table space. We had a visiting art teacher who did some pen and ink drawing skills with us. I love that technique but after 90 minutes of close concentrated work my eyes had dried up and were sore.

It was a good day all round yesterday. Claire and Erin came about 10.00 am. We chatted and Erin painted for an hour, she is good for her age, and then we made pasta. Flour everywhere but its always good fun with the kids. After lunch the sun came out so we did a circular 2.5 mlle walk to the waterfalls which were stunning because of all the rain.
7314B7F3-64A4-4A6F-BDEE-41057C02FBD3.jpeg
We have both just successfully ordered some more lateral flow tests, its always good to have a stock, especially as we hope to go to France on the 8 th March. No tests are needed now in either direction but we will do our own. Talking of France, Yves decided to cut our hedge yesterday but did himself a nasty injury to his finger . He is having to have surgery this morning to repair the nerves. I think he was lucky not to lose his finger. We feel awful about it.

On that note have a good day everyone and be careful whatever you are doing . Its raining again today so it's back to sewing for me . This evening is pilates and yoga in the studio.

Morning

Its sewing and the hairdressers for me today. I have pilates this evening. Not much else to say. Its a wild day with rain forecast again, although yesterday turned out drier than expected. This storm has probably messed up our plans for the rest of the week as we were taking Daves chair down to Cardiff to my brother Bob tomorrow on the trailer. We shall make our decision tonight.

Yves had his finger repaired and I believe he has 5 stitches. He was so lucky that it wasn't much worse

Have a good day all

Nice to hear the good news about Ives. As for today's weather, it looks dire. The rain hasn't come in yet but the wind is roaring in the telephone wires and chimney pots.
I've had a nice couple of hours and have finished up with both bottom brasses rough fitted to the bed. I shall refine them tomorrow.

I'm glad you're postponing your trip, Sue. We now have warnings of strong winds, large waves and tidal surges for all along the north coasts of Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset. The BBC South West weatherman says "there may well be damaging gusts close to 100mph (161km/h) along the north coasts of Devon and Cornwall". Although the winds will be worst on the south side of the Bristol Channel the north side, including Cardiff, will probably see a lot of rain and flooding. They're saying this storm may well be stronger than the one that collapsed the Dawlish railway track, although Dawlish may escape this time because the winds will be westerly. I like the comment from Paddy Cochrane, of the Falmouth Coastguard: "We're going to get a fair old blow come through."

Our forecast winds are worse tomorrow and that's affected what I do today. I shall do my shopping this morning so only an hour in the shed..... I managed a walk and short bookie watch yesterday but it started raining. I shall take a view later this morning, could be quite pleasant for a while.....

Morning

Thanks for all your concerns and weather info, it all confirms our decision that driving there today would not be too bad but coming home tomorrow would be unsafe. Its unfortunate as we had a window of no commitments at home and it was an ideal opportunity to make the trip. Next week is a little more difficult but we have decided that Monday to Tuesday is feasible. My nephew Richard, had received a severe weather forecast at work, before it went public so had phoned his Dad to warn him, in turn Bob had contacted us and told us not to travel.

I now have an unplanned day, so may do online pilates ( its half term at my art class) . I shall also attempt to get a Drs appointment about a niggling issue that I have. I don’t hold out much hope though . Otherwise I shall take the day as it comes

Havea good day all

I've done my early doors shop on quite a pleasant morning. It will not be like this tomorrow. (I noticed it was daylight at 07:00. First time this year I think. My usual shopping friend, an old lady the same age as me was there as well, a day early. She told me she had made the same decision that I had, get it done before tomorrow's weather hits.

Image

I had a useful hour hand-filing in the shed (That was the safest way to do this.) and here's where I finished. Both bottom brasses are fitted and have their witness marks.

I shall be having a normal day, two hours in the shed and then second sleep. We have a yellow wind warning and the wind will start to kick in at dawn reaching a peak around 15:00 so I think we can kick bookie watch into touch as we have heavy rain all day as well.
Look on the bright side up here, at least the worst of the weather will be in daylight. Far better than during the night.
(One last thought, they've been having these storms up in the North of Scotland all winter but no mention. Today it will be wall to wall news because it's happening in the South.)
Later at 06:00. There's a red warning for London now and as I predicted there's a hint of hysteria in the early news reports. Here in Barlick we have heavy rain and the wind is starting to rise. I feel sorry for anyone who has to be out in the weather today. I feel very lucky in that I have a choice and can cower indoors. (What a good job I did the shopping yesterday....)

Morning

No sign of anything here. The forecast is for a fairly calm morning but kicking in by noon and a very wild afternoon. I am not sure wether to go to art in Todmorden. Going will be ok, coming back not so. Bob and i will discuss it later.

It was sewing all day yesterday and if we stay at home I shall continue. Otherwise not much to report. We were going to walk to the Hermes shop yesterday afternoon and up to the waterfalls but it started to rain heavily with hints of snow. We had a Hermes delivery in the afternoon and our friendly delivery man took the parcel for us, so at least we didn’t have to go out.

Have a good day all.

Play safe Sue, stay at home indoors, your safety is more important than art. It's going to be a wild afternoon and I shall watch it from the warmth and safety of the house.

This is knocking off time. The brasses aren't finished but they are now sized, squared and measured, marked and drilled for the holding down studs. They also have their witness marks. Good progress and 90 minutes well spent.

Then second sleep because this bloody keyboard got me up early. Not time wasted though because I got the tools out and fixed my problem. A walk could be on the cards later.....

Morning

We went to art it was calm here and we even managed a quick lunch across the road from the venue, arriving home just as the heavy rain started. The wind was much later. Almost spot on the hourly forecast for Rochdale as printed on the Manchester Evening News online. Their hourly forecasts are pretty accurate

Its Bacup market this morning, its relatively calm now. The birds must have been in hiding most of the day yesterday because they are out in the garden en masse feeding on the bird feed I tossed on to the garden yesterday.

We are a bit late this morning so no time to write anything else. It will be an indoor pottering day today. Havea good day all

I've had an hour and a half in the shed and made progress but slow and careful....

Morning

Snow most of the day yesterday but it has gone overnight as we head into a day of continuous rain. This morning I shall strip the bed and change the bedding, no drying of duvet covers outside today however :laugh5: Then after our usual Sunday cooked breakfast its art with Briony on zoom. This weeks topic is a cherry tree in flower. Even Briony seems to be searching for hints of Spring. Afterwards I shall carry on sewing top number 3 in preparation for our cruise in late April. I have no other plans except doing the ironing when my washing and drying is finished.

Have a good day, stay warm and dry

Sounds very much like my day Sue, as you say we are promised a day of continuous rain and wind. The wind will increase in strength during the night with gusts of over 60mph. A wind chill of -7C this afternoon..... I have had 2 hours in the shed, lots of drilling and tapping and I finished up painting the castings before I do any more fitting.

Its 10 degrees here and due to stay warmish . Windspeed is moderate , we are not expecting the severe gusts and windchill forecast you mentioned Stanley. Its raining hard at the moment but only a slight breeze and feels warm outside.
