Thank god it didn't cause injury Ken.
I've had a walk and 15 minutes bookie watch on the bench. Dry but no sun as was the case earlier. The wind is in the NW now and is colder. Good job I had the Crombie to protect me.

Nobody injured but the young lad was sleeping in his shed (chalet) about 4 yards away. It came down at about 3 AM .
The last photo is the branches in our garden

Yesterday improved slowly and at 20:00 we had a breeze and it was overcast but dry. This morning we have more wind , it's overcast and we have had a recent light shower. The glass is is up on 1009mb. The forecast is for rain until 10:00 and then sunny intervals. The mainly SW wind is brisk and gusts to 40mph giving a high of 8C and a low of 4C with a -5C chill most of the day. The outlook is for similar unsettled weather with perhaps some wintry showers on Thursday. Deep Joy....

I've had me walk and a sit in the sun opposite the end of Albert Road (Because those benches are sheltered from the NW wind.) Very pleasant and surprising warmth from the sun. The wind however is cold and I can believe the wind chill they promised us this morning.

Yesterday the afternoon stayed dry. At 20:00 it was still breezy but dry and the sky was clearing. Sky clear first thing this morning still breezy but dry. The glass is up on 1014mb. The forecast is for it to become overcast and heavy rain will come in early this evening. The SW wind is constant and brisk and gives a high of 9C, a low of 1C and a -5C chill most of the day. We have two cooler days to come and then back to similar weather to today. We shouldn't grumble, winter is being quite kind to us.

Yesterday was quite dry until I went out at noon when it started raining. Scattered showers was the story until later. At 20:00 we had a light breeze, it was dry and overcast and that is the picture this morning. The glass is down at 998mb and still falling. The forecast is for a showery day with sunny spells and showers. The showers could be q1uite heavy and fall as snow until noon when we shall have more sleet than snow. The constant WSW wind is brisk and gusts to 35mph. The high is 3C the low 1C and the chill is -7C. It's a wintry day The outlook is for milder dryer weather but still unsettled.
06:00. It's started snowing.....

Bright and sunny at the moment, but we’ve had a very heavy hail shower which last about 5mins at 8am.

London has wintry showers yet warmthish in the sun, just had hail, freezing wind and thunderclap, now brilliant sunshine again.

Interesting Plaques tree, one or two of the local ones have cleaved split in the same way rather than being uprooted. Concrete tiles of mums block of flats, (from Eunice I think) no sight of housing association staff , remained windy over the week.

Took a walk round with the tree man yesterday. The owner was asking if the remainder could be taken down. The TPO had been cancelled by the planning officer on seeing the photos. "Yes it can", was the answer and "as quickly as possible". The tree had bifurcated and only one half had split off. Water had entered the joint between the two trunks and gradually rotted the tree from inside. The way its leaning and swaying with massive branches ready to drop on the chalet "its a danger money job". Too true, lots of walking round stroking chin before "I'll start this Friday" (tomorrow). Glad its him and not me.

I've just got back from my trip to get glasses, meds, a lemon and some Onions. Here's what I have told the kids in Oz.... "Back from a cold walk out for shopping. All tasks accomplished and Well Pharmacy are giving free lateral flow tests away from a box on the shop floor marked 'help yourself'! The Council are gritting the roads.... What do they know that we don't?

Quite a lot of trees run two trunks - mostly due to some idiot cutting them down when in low growth when they are part of a hedgerow. Better to leave them when possible I suppose in their early days. Is any of the timber useful ?

Insurance is a funny thing. Had the storm damaged fences, edges or gates. I would have got nothing. But because the fallen tree fell on the fence plus the pergola I get to claim for the clearance of the wood on my side plus the fence and pergola damage. The down side is since only the branches are on my side I may finish up with a lot of firewood which is not much use when you have central heating.
