Yes the floods in Queensland and New Sth Wales are very bad, as bad if not worse than the 2011 and 2017 floods that they had.
Our east coast has been battered many times in the last few years. When the water finally abates , the clean-up will be ongoing for a very long time.

I'm sorry to have to tell you all this bad news but you must ditch all that lovely Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial Champagne that you've been saving in your cellars. It's contaminated and deadly. No, I'm not joking a number of people have already died or been made seriously ill. It contains the drug MDMA (`ecstasy') and even getting it on your skin can make you very ill. The authorities believe the champagne bottles were being used to traffic a solution of MDMA. Food Safety News You'll have to go back to Prosecco!

Nice one. 😊

Also 500,000 people Nth West of Sydney have been told to evacuate, due to flood crisis . 🙁

This record flooding is driven by La Niña and climate change.

Last night actually, Sally and her friend Carolyn receiving their "Pride of Barnoldswick" awards at the event in the town square. Both for their campaign of sewing hundreds of pairs of scrubs for the NHS during the pandemic.

Cathy, for information, the very secretive Yarn Bombers were suitably masked to conceal their identity when they collect their rewards. :extrawink:

I'm sorry to hear the flooding is continuing, Cathy, but I'm pleased that Australians are now accepting that climate change is making such events worse. And thank you to this man for letting us all see his video footage of the over-excited Adelaide crabs!

Just wrapped up warm like everyone else Cathy. The event was in a marquee on the town square, not the warmest of places on a cold, damp early March night! Don't know why they didn't hold it in the Rainhall Centre as usual or the Civic Hall, equally as big. It would have been a lot warmer for the proceedings.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Cathy. Your mention of clear water reminded me of when I was a child and used to fish for minnows in little streams that were crystal clear. Also paddling in the local rivers at the weekend and having tiddlers tickling our feet - Edisford Bridge was a favourite spot.

A dull scraping noise from the back nearside quarter of the car. More apparent when braking but continues for a while after releasing the brakes when driving. Car drives and stops well but it's not right. Tried my normal garage and they don't have a slot until nearly the end of April. Managed to get it in at another local garage next week. Sounds like it could be brake pad related but we'll find out once it's in the shop.

Sounds like a worn brake pad. Lets hope it hasn't damaged the disc. The service should have picked this up but nowadays they don't even take the wheels off unless its a full service. Worth having them look at all your wheels.

On a day when Rod Marsh, Australian Wicket Keeper died, so did Spin Bowler Shane Warne - at the age of 52 from a Heart Attack.
(supose that should be in obituaries but its the 52 being no age at all)

Realised when going to a local church coffee morning that there were no chocolate biscuits, was reminded that it is Lent.

Also reminded that the lent lunches (roll/cheese, mug of soup and fruit item) started this week too (I thought it would be next week), Local Archbishop is raising funds for a number of UK and International Projects.

Hows this for an idea....? Many years ago my mate Ted Lawson worked at West Marton Dairies and he and his wife Joyce lived in estate accommodation at the Kennels, a short walk across the fields from the dairy. One night he was walking in the dark across the fields when he tripped over something. He investigated in daylight and found it was an abandoned filter bed. part of the drainage and sewage system at Old Gledstone Hall. So what? Simply this, it was like many filter beds made of coke from the local gasworks. It made an ideal filter medium for liquid effluent and never lost its calorific value as a fuel. From then on, all the time they lived at the Kennels they were never without a good fire. Ted had a bucket parked in the field and took some home every night.
The moral of this tale is that if you know of an abandoned filter bed, have a close look at it. It could be a source of fuel when things get bad.
(50 years ago the Settle Coal Company used to recharge filter beds and sold the reclaimed coke at a reduced price.)

The collapse of the ceasefire in Ukraine because the Russians continued shelling the civilians, the homes, the roads has prompted us to put a chunk of our savings into the Red Cross DEC Ukraine Appeal. Red Cross It seems the only way we can help the brave people of Ukraine.

If you have never heard of a drug called Pervitin have a read of THIS Wiki article about how the drug was used as a weapon of war.
If you are tempted to be judgmental about the content, have a search for Benzedrine...

Thanks for that link. I'd heard about Hitler being on drugs and knew that amphetamines like benzedrine (`bennies') were used to some extent by both the Allies and Axis troops but didn't know all that detail in the web link. The benzedrine was useful for short `special operations' but was a problem when used by normal troops because it tended to turn them into useless zombies due to the hangover and side effects. I see elsewhere that German troops called the pills Stuka Tabletten and Hermann Göring Pillen. It does make you wonder what drugs Putin might be taking in addition to the steroids suggested by the CIA and he might be going the way of Hitler too.

Something more light-hearted here!...

It'll be closed for 'surface dressing' in both directions. The letter states 'it would be realistic to anticipate some delays and inconvenience'. I think they could be right :biggrin2:
