I'm sure there is a topic somewhere on feedback from the Leslie Graham story but I'll be buggered if I can find it so I've started another. (Perhaps it's in the archive...)

Here is an email exchange from this morning's post (last post at the top of course)

The girl he used to truant school with, Vivienne McAuliffe, was my great aunt! I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to here some anecdotal story that gives some insight into a relative's life than a somewhat tedious old birth certificate or other such piece of paper. Vivienne had a sister, Ethel, who was to become my grandmother.

What you've posted here is a true gem for me. Her father Thomas McAuliffe is buried in Waverley Cemetery not far from where I live now.

It's so nice when I get mail from someone who has made a connection after reading what the family and I have discovered about father. You'll see I have copied this mail to other people, they are the family and other helpers in the project. I like them to know as well that we did a bit of good.
Let me know if you have problems with the book. I think you'll like it, lots of surprises and many more names and connections.
In case you're wondering, I am usually up early, a life long habit!

Matt has sent me a pic of Viviane McAuley the young lass my dad used to play hookie with when he was at school. I think I can see why! This was about ten years later in Sydney. Bonny lass!

The latest contributions to father's story have triggered off a request for copies of his tapes for the library in Dubbo, his home town in NSW. I have put them on to the Imperial War Museum who archived the tapes in digital form.
