Those foreign workers who returned home sick of being labeled 'Not wanted here' by populist Cabinet members.

We never did cook the apple strudel, I reckon it's on for tea today with some left to go with coffee tomorrow morning :biggrin2:

It was right at the end of the interview Stanley, she appeared to be leaving but could still be heard commenting on the fact that she followed Jeremy into the seat.

See THIS BBC report for what grabbed me.
"Hundreds of Met Police officers have been getting away with breaking the law and misconduct, a damning report has found. Baroness Louise Casey found many claims of sexual misconduct, misogyny, racism and homophobia were badly mishandled. One serving officer had 11 misconduct notices for allegations involving assault, sexual harassment and fraud. Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said the findings showed hundreds of his officers should have been sacked. The interim report on misconduct procedures and the culture in the Met also found misogyny and racial disparity across the force's internal disciplinary system, with a "systemic bias" against black and Asian officers.
Read the article because there is much more and It shows that Sadiq Khan has been right all along in his criticism of the Met and him driving Cressida Dick out. She was presiding over chaos!
More importantly, Susan reported that great grand daughter Lily took her first steps yesterday afternoon.... :biggrin2:

21st October is Trafalgar Day celebrating Nelson's victory in 1805. It was also my Dad's birthday in 1920, which is why I always remember.

Indeed it is Wendy. Thanks for giving me an excuse to post.
I decided not to remind everyone of the two dates that are always with me. The Gresford Colliery explosion, 266 men killed, 200 widows and 800 fatherless kids. From then, in 1934 to when the pit closed in 1973 the miners went in to work each day with their comrades still sealed in the Dennis Main seam. They are all still down there.
Aberfan, 116 children and 28 adults buried in slurry when the tip failed and slid down the hillside. I heard the news as I drove home after delivering a tank of milk. I remember I pulled in to the roadside and wept.

I agree Cathy and it's often the `little people', not the politicians who are doing it. There was a story on the radio this morning about a small local school that's acting like a so-called `warm bank', somewhere that those folk who can't afford to heat their homes can go to keep warm. The school doesn't get any extra funds for it but parents are chipping in to help. All that and the cost of running the school's normal activities has increased from £24,000 to £48,000 in the last decade.

The VISA debit card that I found last night on our way to a friends curry night which she put on to raise funds for Bosom Friends. The evening do was very good with excellent banter and catching up with a few mates. Excellent food, Ellie had put on Chicken Zalfrezi, Bombay Potatoes, Lamb Keema, Beef and a Vegetarian Curry with Rice and home made Naan Bread. All very tasty as well as the following Mango Pudding for dessert.

Back to the debit card. I put a post up on Barnoldswick Talk Facebook page as I didn't recognise the name on the card. I got a fairly quick response from the young man's mother. A few exchanges of messages on how to collect. (I stipulated some form of ID before return). Said young man called round at tea time complete with his passport offered for ID, card handed over, job done. :good:

Sally's Facebook time line reminded her that it was four years ago that she was videoing me when I was learning to walk again!
