Yesterday, finally managed to meet up with Callum, (he is an extremely busy poppy organiser) to pick up a new box (100) remembrance crosses. Will set about this years distribution at the weekend I reckon.

I added the BBC Sounds app to my Sonos platform. The streaming service I was using, for BBC radio stations, kept dropping out and was making announcements that it would stop in 2023. Despite reading negative reviews, for BBC Sounds, it's been OK so far :good:

We've had BBC Sounds since it started and it had lots of problems at the beginning. It got almost all negative feedback on the reviews sites. It was obviously launched before it was finished - like much else these days, shove it out and see if anyone complains. Let the customer do the work for you. Gradually it improved. We didn't get dropouts until recent weeks and now we get them frequently but it might be to do with our wifi.

The fact that today Susan, Jess, Kahara and Lily (three generations of my family) climb on an A380 and fly off to Australia at midday. Those two great grandchildren are well travelled. This year they have clocked up France Spain and Kenya and now are off to Oz. Susan and I were saying that this is probably the last such trip for a long while because of the pressure on finances here in the UK. Muthomi and Jess have seen their mortgage shoot up over the last few months, they have good jobs but not that good.
Still, if anyone had told me 50 years ago that these journeys would be happening I wouldn't have believed it.....

The incoming flight is delayed, it's just passed over Prague and is expected to be in Manchester at noon. The outward flight departs at 14:00 according to latest estimates....I'm watching on flight tracker and flight radar... fascinating stuff. I know more than the kids do at the airport....

I learned last night to my surprise that the price of a 'walk up' ticket for Blackpool Pleasure Beach is £46 each.

Don't worry though it's cheaper with a pre booked 'eticket'.

Yiota and Ash will land in Perth in just over an hour after their sixteen and a half hour flight from LHR.

It would appear protesters were causing delays on the M25 earlier today, I'm not sure how anyone would notice. There always have been delays on the M25.

I asked at the Co-op whether it was the high value cupboards behind the counter that were hit when they were burgled and was told no, they went for one of the tills behind the counter, all they were after was cash..... Sounds like kids.

We've had monsoon-style rain and gale force winds repeatedly over recent weeks. We've stood at the front window and watched a 3-foot wide stream carrying all the fallen leaves sweep down the side street opposite us. The water was just flowing over the drains because they were all blocked by the leaves thrown down by the winds. All that and yet we have plants in flower now that should be flowering at other times of the year. Our weather forecast is for 13C today and 14C tonight!

Our Honda Jazz has recently been serviced and it has a very low mileage, due to lockdown etc. The Honda dealer has now tried to get us to trade it in for a later model. I told them they could give me a later model but I wasn't going to pay out any money or take out a credit deal. End of conversation.

Sounds like a dealer trying to drum up trade Peter..... They can't be blamed but like you I would be asking "Where's the benefit for me?"
But the main thing that grabbed me is that today is Armistice Day.....

...and perhaps the right time also to note the sad news that the most senior US general estimates that around 100,000 Russian and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or injured in the war in Ukraine (and 40,000 civilians).

The latest report is that the Russians claim they've now completed their withdrawal from Kherson. The main brdige across the Dniper River has been destroyed. It's not sure whether they did it themselves but they're planting lots of mines and booby traps. This is where we find out if they're going for a scorched earth withdrawal by blowing up the massive dam and flooding the whole region and damaging the nuclear power plant in such a way that the region becomes contaminated with radioactive isotopes.

What grabbed me was that when I tried to change the date on my new watch yesterday the winding stem came out completely. I shall be registering a complaint at Huppach's who sold it to me!!!
