The photo is deceptive Stanley, its not me but my mannequin ( more or less to my size) but on a mannequin it clings because of the fabric covering and does not hang realistically

Only one pic this morning. I spent less than an hour in the shed. The job this morning is to get this leg of the shaft down to size. I have got it down to just over half an inch but can't finish it because it's too hot to measure accurately. So I stopped, cleaned the chips off Mrs Harrison, fitted the HSS cutter I shall use to finish and left it to cool down. Tomorrow I shall do the final cuts and the shaft will be finished.... Nice!

Morning

A busy afternoon yesterday at Maxine’s. It was so nice to be able to see her and as well as sewing we had a long chat over a cuppa. We managed to make side extension panels for my dress, I now just need to sew them in. The perfect zip is not wasted. Back home I plodded on with my fabric tidying and I will do some more today. I am nearly there.

Its art at Haslingden this morning, the last one of the year, then this afternoon I shall go and see Wendy and Barry. Hopefully they will be over their crises now. I probably won’t do any more cooking unless they want me to.

Thats it, and another week nearly over. I don’t remember time moving so quickly when I worked :laugh5: Have a good day all

I recognise that one Sue and the really bad news is that the older you get the faster the time goes. A week is a blink of an eye for me these days.....

In the shed for some careful finishing touches to my crankshaft but out of there for early doors Co-op shopping at 7AM. After that I am not sure. A walk and a sit look on at the moment but we'll wait and see if the forecast is correct. There may be pics from Oz of the wedding later......

I was in the shed early to make sure I had time to get the shaft finished before Co-op shopping.
Here it is. Not perfect of course but a nice ornament on the table until I need it. It does me good to look at it after all the dramas I created by being careless..... :biggrin2:

Morning

A fine day is forecast but I won’t see much of it. Its u3a art at Todmorden today and I am demonstrating painting on fabric with acrylic paints. This as a technique I developed when I was on my three day art workshop in Kendal in June. After that its lunch at the Shepherds Rest with Wendy and Keith. It will be a late afternoon return home.

I have a load of towels to wash whilst I am out but it will be too late to dry them outside so I shall part dry in the dryer and finish them off in the airing cupboard.

Have a good day all, a nice day for your walk Wendy.

I'm back from the Co-op and the shopping is all dealt with. I got caught in a nasty cold shower as I came home but that was offset by a very nice young lady who lifted my shopping up the steps from the Pioneer car park. A big help and she did it with one hand...... :biggrin2:

No time for a walk today Sue, I'm down at the Community Centre in Earby this morning setting up ready for the launch tomorrow of Stephanie Carter's latest book. This one is the history of Alder Hill School in Earby. After that I'm off to Kelbrook Village Hall to help serve up an over 60s lunch. I was invited to the first one a couple of months ago but didn't really feel comfortable being served a free lunch though it was good to meet people and feel part of the community so I've offered to help instead. A launch and a lunch!
I've passed my 100 mile mark now so the pressure is off!

Thats brill news about the walk Wendy. I do agree about the lunch, I would feel the same. There are so many people out there who need this, and not necessarily the elderly either.

The pressure is off now the crankshaft is finished. I can get on with the pleasure of making an engine from scratch but first I'll have a good clean up, a clean tablecloth and give Mrs Harrison a bit of TLC. It's a while since she had a good oil and a check over. Apart from that it will be a cooking day and as heavy rain is forecast for later this morning I shall probably ditch the walk and sit. I have put a load of washing on so I can feel busy!

Morning

Bacup market this morning, then I must unpack my art bag and put things away after yesterdays class and demo. The latter went well I think. Otherwise I think it is a sewing day. I want to finish the dress with the zip and then I can crack on with a few Christmas embroidery things.

A fine morning is forecast till 11 and then the rain starts. At least the reservoir on Owd Betts is beginning to fill up now. It still has a grassy beach but the island in the middle is disappearing.

Have a good day all.

Back up after second sleep. Chicken is browning after the gravy is poured off into a pan. I shall use it to cook veggies. I am having a pot of tea and a sit to recover and then forward with veggie cooking. It's not raining yet but that wind is blustery and cold....

Busy day yesterday with all the cooking but that's all done now and safe in the fridge so I shall be taking it easy and enjoying myself today. Housework can wait until tomorrow. I shall be in the shed doing some CI turning on the flywheel, a mucky job because of the dust but I really like Cast Iron as a material. The forecast isn't Indian Summer but nothing at the moment to stop walk and sit at midday. In short, a relaxing day.....

A nice quiet hour and a half. I have done all the turning on the flywheel and bored it for the crankshaft, a perfect fit. Polishing and finishing will come later. This is just a good solid start and all the sizing is correct.

Morning

I had a good 8.5 hours sleep last night and still feel a bit dopey . I spent yesterday sewing my dress and am pleased to say the panels Maxine and I put in worked very well. I just have to hand sew the hems today which will be a nice relaxing occupation.otherwise I have no plans. I shall set up the embroidery unit on my machine ready to make some Christmas bits and pieces. Bob is at the park later doing some maintenance on the track but won’t be staying late.

Have a good day all.

All seems well this morning and so I shall be in the shed with my castings for an hour. The forecast is for a dry day so I expect I shall have a walk and sit on traffic duty. Beyond that it's a matter of enjoying talking to the kids. They are at Busselton by the sea in a rented house enjoying the sun!

I started the day with some hand work with a round file to clean up the flash on the spokes of the flywheel. Then I turned to the cylinder casting and cleaned off the worst of the flash with the grindstone and chipping and filing. Then I did something I hate, I turned a piece of wood down to plug the bore so that I have a place to mark the centre of the bore but that won't happen until I have done more work on the cylinder casting.....
