Morning

Its not easy to wake up with these dark mornings, Bob was sleeping soundly till 10 minutes ago, I had been reading for half an hour. Its a busy day today. I have Pilates then its a quick shower and get ready to go out. Its the Haslingden art group, end of term, lunch out. This evening it is the Pilates Christmas do, the first one in 3 years. A nice social day.

My sewing supplies despatched via Royal Mail last Thursday have still not arrived so my Christmas sewing has come to a full stop. I have done what I needed to post, the rest will have to wait. Last night we wrote the Christmas cards that we will be posted and will try and get them posted tomorrow, especially the ones for abroad. Many people will now get an email version which they can printout if they so desire.

My cuppa has arrived and I must do a bit of research to see where to park in Rawtenstall this lunch time. Have a good day all.

Morning Sue. What good service Bob gives.... It would take me more than ten minutes to waken up never mind swing into catering mode. I'm impressed....
You stay in bed as long as you can get away with it. I am just going back there after my jobs....

He always gets straight up when he wakes, years of long work commutes and taking Julia to early morning swimming training. I can do it if I have to but prefer a more leisurely start to the day :laugh5:

Before the entertainment. I need to do a bit of appliance maintenance. Radiators need bleeding as a first step to see why the heating is kicking in when it's turned off?

I also need to pull my fridge out to see why the compressor is constantly buzzing, it's getting annoying!

Margaret and I had a pleasant trip out to Barrowford where we had soup for lunch in the Heritage Centre tea room before heading for the Higherford Methodist Church. The Friends of Pendle Heritage Centre have to hold their meetings in the church as the lovely old barn at the Heritage Centre is now available for commercial rent. Everyone seemed to enjoy Margaret's talk on Earby's corn/cotton mill and our research into what remains of the water power system up above the waterfalls.

Glad all went well Wendy.....
I shall be snatching an hour in the shed before going to the Co-op for early doors shopping at 07:00. The weather is a rerun of yesterday so I see nothing on the horizon to interfere with my walk and sit on security patrol later this morning. This spell of high pressure is very welcome, better than Storm Arwen!

Morning

That sounds an interesting talk Wendy, I bet it was interesting doing the research too.

I had a good social day yesterday. I opted for a light but very tasty lunch with my art group at a Turkish restaurant in Rawtenstall, and it was a very lively fun do in the evening, though Gill, Debs and I sat and did a lot of talking which was hard above the singing of SWEET CAROLINE :laugh5: my voice feels a little raw today :laugh5: The coffee bar Taira had hired was amazing and is tucked away at the back of an old mill in Spotland, at a place that is actually in many of our walks. Now we know where to stop for a break.

No fog this morning for he first time in days. I have dance exercise this morning then at lunchtime we are having a Christmas meal with Wendy , Keith, Barbara and Bill. its an opportunity for the Shepherds Rest to redeem itself otherwise we shall be searching out a different Friday lunch venue. Last week the service was awful. It is under new ownership and the reviews fir the evening are good but lunchtime service seems poor and a very restricted menu. Our too favourite waiters have left, we wonder why

It will be late afternoon when we get back. Have a good day .

Pity about the decline in the Shepherd's Rest Sue. That was the place where they asked us to sit in the car park while the fire brigade put the fire out. Very reminiscent of Uncle Mort.....

Only one pic needed. I spent over an hour and a quarter in the shed before shopping and spent the time carefully refining my cylinder castings. I made good progress and now I'm ready to look at the cylinder lids. But that's for tomorrow. I've finished putting the shopping away.... Now for breakfast!

Been helping with the setting up of the Civic Hall for Bosom Friends shopping event tonight. Plenty of locally produced crafts and food goodies. I will be there helping out with the mulled wine and the raffle probably.

Knocking off time. I have cooked all my veggies and cleaned up. I have two sea bass fillets in the oven for tea, it only needs turning on for 15 minutes. So I can log off and have a read of Private Eye which arrived today.....

In the shed quietly working on my castings then a walk and a sit I think, nothing in the weather forecast to rule that out. I'll be glad when we get to Monday because tomorrow the kids fly out of Perth. I'm always glad when they are home safely.... Roll on Monday afternoon!

A quiet hour on the castings. Witness marks on the Cylinder, steam chest and lid and the back lid finished to size and with its PCD marked on it.

Morning

Well we had a very wonderful lunch yesterday. The food was delicious snd the service good but then there were only three other tables in there. We have decided to give it another go possibly in two weeks time but next Friday is a Jacobs Join at u3a Art.

There was not much left of the daylight when we got back so not much more was done. I finished the Christmas cards, wrote a long ( real paper) letter to an old university friend who lives down South and wrote a shorter (messenger) one to my cousin who lives in Oswaldtwistle. Bob was out giving a talk at the Model Engineers so I settled down with Strictly and Professional Master chef. Apart from a slice of toast before bed no more food was consumed but lots of water was :laugh5:

This morning is Bacup market, and lots of washing as we had a local water leak yesterday. The first load of towels is already in. I shall finish my cuppa then its up and out. This afternoon wil be sewing as my supplies have arrived. Tonight will be a bit of parcel wrapping so we can get them in the post early.

Have a good day all.

Just off to bed for second sleep but I caught you. As usual you are organised and have a full day planned. I have written my letter of complaint to British Gas and my chicken is roasting. THAT'S ABOUT IT FOR STRUCTURE EXCEPT FOR A SHORT WALK, POST MY LETTER AND HAVE A SIT WATCHING THE WORLD RUSHING ABOUT xMAS SHOPPING.... (As I say so many times, bugger caps lock. I am not shouting at you Sue!)

Thanks Kev, I have downloaded it. How do I access it if I need it? Ah! I found it in the actions table I get by left clicking on highlighted text. I look forwards to trying it Kev.
Writing my complaint letter to British Gas before I went back to bed worked like a charm. I slept like a log. My chicken is browning now and I am ready to go and post the letter. :biggrin2:

Today, guess what! I'll be in the shed working on my castings for at least an hour, then second sleep. No cooking today I did it all yesterday and a week's veggies and chicken are in the fridge. The forecast is for rain until 14:00 so I doubt if there will be a walk and sit. I like my fresh air but not the rain!

Morning

Its cold and dark but not raining yet. Its due within the hour. Yesterday was shopping in the morning and sewing in the afternoon. We did the market at Bacup and left as the town was setting up for a festive day. After coffee at home we went to get bird seed from B&M at the bottom of Whitworth road and from there did a short walk into town to buy a few essentials. I have nasty burn on my hand from catching it on the oven shelf last Wednesday. Despite the usual first aid under cold running water I have two blisters that I keep catching with my coat sleeves and glove so I needed a good BOOTS to buy the protective spray for such situations . Its looking better this morning already

Today will be sewing and parcel wrapping . Bob will be at the park doing a boiler test but I doubt he will stay long otherwise because of the rain. Roast lamb for tea.

Have a good day all

We had that nattering light rain as well Sue. I didn't bother attempting a walk even when the sun came out briefly, I was engrossed watching the kid's plane leaving Perth. I have just watched them leave Dubai this morning and they'll be in Manchester just after 11AM. They'll feel a difference in the temperature. The wind chill due to the NE wind will take them to near zero....
I shall be in the shed with my castings, then second sleep and at some point I shall cut my hair, it is getting rampant, I look like Albert Einstein! I shall be glad when that plane lands. 6 members of my family on it....

Base castings today. First I cleaned the lathe, touched up the HSS cutter and checked it for centre Then I did some old fashioned fettling using files and the grindstone. I finished up with two clean castings ready for further work under the vertical mill. But that's for tomorrow.

Morning

A busy day yesterday. I decided to treat and wash the shower curtain, which , despite our care in drying it daily , was going mildewy on the edges. I ended up treating the grout round the tiles too for the same reason. We love our house but the bathroom is airless with a small slit of a window that faces the narrow sideway between us and our neighbours . From there I ended up steam cleaning the tiled and hard floors. I made soup for the next few days lunches, prepared the veg for the roast lamb tea, wrapped the presents that needed posting and eventually managed my Christmas sewing. Sunday is a day to get things done as Bob is out from 11.00 am. I expected him to return early but as the weather was not as bad as expected it was nearly 4.30 pm when he arrived.

Today will be quieter, a pilates and yoga class, perhaps a walk, perhaps some sewing but definitely present wrapping so I can tidy up the spare bedroom.

Have a good day all.
