Really pleased with the shirts I bought to keep up standards. Hoggs of Fyffe and far too expensive but there are no pockets in a shroud!

- I don't think they sell bananas.

Just looked at the website and spirits are raised. I do hope it isn't all imported. I don't think the prices are too bad considering the quality. Compare the cost of welted brogues with a pair of Nike trainers. I know which I'd buy.

I wear Nike trainers as they are best for my drop foot and I didn't need a loan to buy them. £30.00 for a shirt is about the norm for something decent, you can pay a lot more if you want.

Sorry - I've never owned a pair of trainers or jeans in my life, so wasn't up to speed - so to speak.
Nike was the first name that came to mind. I've seen people on TV who pay a lot of money for trainers.
I think we are in agreement on the shirt.

Had a look on the Hoggs website, the Tattersal shirts look quite reasonable at £22.95. I might even order some myself.

They size them on collar size Kev. A 17" fits me, you will need larger!
As I was going down the steps to the car park a young man with a whippet had to wait for me. He commented on my Regent Brogues and was astonished when I told him they were fifty years old. "How many soles and heels?" was his next question. I told him I had lost count. It struck me he had good taste in shoes and dogs, not bad at that age!

The welcome change in the weather which is coming tonight. We will have two days of heavy rain but the extreme cold will go away for a while. A semi-tropical 12C on Monday if the forecast is correct.

The big news for me is the sudden change in the weather. The iron frost has gone and tomorrow we are promised 12C. But it's still cold out there and a very cold wind. I shall stay indoors in the warm until it's safe to go out. As I get older I feel the cold a lot more. I suppose it's to be expected but still feels strange....

Have a look at this short BBC video, it has some old B&W footage. But note the old aircraft shown, you won't see that illustrated very often. It's a Bristol Bombay Type 130 bomber/transport. I've posted a better image below...
`Looking after thousands of Northern Ireland's abandoned mines' LINK

It's worth reading the plane's Wikipedia page: Bombay for one interesting fact if nothing else - a Bombay was shot down in the Western Desert on 7 August 1942. If that hadn't happened the outcome of WW2 might have been very different!

I've never come across that aeroplane before Peter. Thanks for the Wiki link.
What's grabbed me today is the complete change in the weather. Positively balmy outside after the last few days!

January, February and March will see a £2 cap on all single bus journeys for several operators. This includes Pendle :good:

I too heard a report of that somewhere yesterday Kev. A good move, some local bus fares were costing a lot more than that.

Indeed. It's over £5 for a Foulridge/Barlick return, cheaper to use the car (latest average figures show this to be around 47p per mile).
