Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

Post by Stanley »

Yesterday afternoon ended with scattered light spatters of rain and by 20:00 we had had a heavy shower. This morning first thing it was damp but not raining and we had scattered clouds, it is still the same. The glass is steady on 1016mb. The forecast is very simple, heavy rain starting round about 07:00. The constant wets wind is brisk and gusts to 40mph for most of the day so another windy day on the hill! The high will be 7C and the low 6C tonight but it will be spoiled by a -5C wind chill which will be almost constant all day. Another day fie wrapping up warm! The 6 day forecast is for warmer and drier weather.
Later at 07:30. The forecast was correct, we have wind and rain and it's cold.....

No not sheltered, about 8miles as crow flies to the coast. It is starting to rain now and a tad more blustery, but not lashing anything.

Yesterday was wet and windy and we still had light rain as it came dark. At 20:00 we had wind and light rain. This morning first thing we still have light rain and the glass is up slightly on 1019mb but falling. The forecast is for an overcast day with occasional light showers. The constant WSW wind is brisk all day and later will gust to over 40mph. It gives us a high of 8C and a low of 7C tonight with a -5C wind chill for much of the day. So another day of biting wind! Wrap up if you are out in it. The 6 day outlook is for another two days like this and then cooler and brighter.

I'm back up after second sleep Gloria and it's still raining. As soon as we have a break I shall go to Town Square for some light veggies shopping to ease the load tomorrow morning.

It stopped raining after 12 noon so I have been out to the Town Square and done some light veggie shopping. Nice to be back inside in the warm.

Yesterday soon reverted to rain again in the afternoon. And at 20:00 we had a light breeze, drizzle and an overcast sky. This morning first thing it wasn't raining but the sky is overcast. It hasn't changed since. The glass is up a shade on 1020mb. The forecast is for fog and drizzle to set in around 06:00 and last until early afternoon. The constant WSW wind is brisk and gusts to over 35mph giving us a high of 8C and a low of 7C tonight with a -3C wind chill most of the day. The 6 day outlook is for similar weather but a bit brighter.

Yesterday was wet and cold until nightfall. At 20:00 we had a light breeze and a sky full of broken cloud. First thing this morning it was overcast with a light breeze but dry. Th glass is up again on 1030mb. The forecast is for a cloudy day but dry until this evening. The constant WSW wind will be moderate and not as gusty as yesterday. It gives us a high of 8C and a low of 0C tonight with as much as a -4C wind chill this afternoon. The 6 day outlook is for cooler, sunnier weather with no rain.

Yesterday the forecast was correct, we had rain in the early evening but by 20:00 it was clearing up and we had a clear night with a brilliant full moon. This morning it was clear, cool and calm. The glass is up again on 1040mb, the highest I have seen it for a long while and still rising. The forecast is for a clear day with a lot of sun. The mainly west wind is very light and gives a high of 6C and a low tonight of -2C with a wind chill of -2C. The 6 day outlook is for similar dry weather but more cloud.

Stunning. My Facebook news feed is pink and orange from top to bottom but I didn't get a decent photo as there were too many reflections on the window and I couldn't be bothered to go outside!

I tried to get one through the window but it didn’t come out well at all. If it’s the same tomorrow night I shall go outside. It was stunning.

You're getting into your stride with summer Cathy while we are almost through the worst of winter. February is such a short month and we will see Crocuses....
Yesterday was a dry sunny day and at 20:00 we had overcast but it was still dry. This morning we have a full moon high in a sky dappled with small fluffy clouds and it is still dry. The glass has fallen back from a high of 1044mb yesterday to 1040mb this morning, still high. The forecast is for early frost and then a dry, clear sunny day but some scattered cloud by dusk. The constant SW wind will be light and gives us a high of 5C and a low tonight of 1C with a -2C chill. The 6 day outlook remains dull but no colder.

I think since we did away with the seasons it is worth mentioning that in Christian and Pagan circles we have just passed St. Brigids day on the first of the month and for the Pagans we are in the period of Imbolc which represents the halfway point between the winter solstice (Yule) and the spring equinox (Ostara).

My friend Kevin in Gargrave is operating a special event radio station today to mark both events. He marks all similar festivals, Roman, Pagan and Christian in the same manner.

The Aries ARC website holds the downloadable electronic QSL cards for the events.

Yesterday was a typical high pressure day when the sun won out over the cloud. Plenty of sun and at 20:00 we had a clear sky and very little wind. First thing this morning we had a light breeze, no frost, high broken cloud and a visible full moon and it is still the same. The glass is down again on 1035mb and perhaps falling very slowly. The forecast is for a dry cloudy day. The mainly SW wind is light and gives us a high of 7C and a low tonight of 0C with a wind chill of -2C for most of the day. The 6 day forecast is for similar dry and overcast weather.
