Morning

All looking good Stanley.

We had a good day yesterday, breakfast and long walk in the Dell followed by the afternoon at Claires. Today will be a sewing day, perhaps a walk, and plant my sweet pea seeds in the greenhouse. No pilates etc, I am having a week off as Briony is here.

Have a good day

Upgrading Ubuntu was a breeze thanks to the brilliant work of the people at Canonical. The complicated process was reduced to a simple exercise in following simple instructions and having patience. Would that everything in life worked like that! (Be sure that if I can do it, anyone can!)
I shall be moving into the final stages of making the Stuart No. 9 engine and might even throw caution to the winds and order a set of castings! That hour in the shed each morning is what keeps me on track......
Nothing in the forecast to stop me having a walk at midday and no excuses like computer maintenance to explain not going out!

Only three quarters of an hour in the shed but we have a finished engine. The flywheel is fitted with Loctite and that is curing overnight. Once the seal is proved I can declare it ready to leave home!

Morning

I looked up Ubuntu, not being techi at thet level, I am no better off :laugh5:

Yesterday Briony and I did some sewing. I have let her use my posh machine rather than my little one. She loves it. She has made a couple of hair adornments but the big thing was a very nice pair of oven gloves for her Mum, which she then carefully wrapped up with a ribbon. In the afternoon we went for a walk and did some local geocaching( easier to google than to try and explain) it was a dull drizzly walk. Meanwhile back in Coventry it was a lovely sunny day. Then it was hot chocolate for Briony, tea for us, and a couple of board games. I lost Monopoly dramatically. I had both Mayfair and Park’Lane with two houses on each and nobody landed on them :laugh5:

Todays plans are art this morning then a trip to Townley Hall. Our dining table is also coming back from the restorers. I am looking forward to seeing that.

I believe it is going to be dry today. Have a good day

Popped into Colne library yesterday didn't have time to look at the photos of old Colne so I will be back this afternoon to give it justice. Rumour has it that there's a 'Spot the difference' competition between then and now. :laugh5:

I did very badly on walks and exercise yesterday, I spent far too much time wrestling with computer programmes and wrapping up the Ombudsman attack on British Gas. I am glad to report I won in the end but it would have been nice if someone had pointed out what no doubt seemed bleeding obvious to them, that I had to tell my Preferences in Shotwell which external editor to use....
I shall be in the shed looking for stock to make a crankshaft out of.... That's right I am starting another engine straight away! It's making them that keeps me alert and on the cutting edge!
Nothing in the forecast against a walk nearer to midday, I shall be aiming for that and perhaps a short sit as well.

I have ordered a set of castings for a new No 9 engine and so I need stock for a crankshaft. (I cut two actually, I'm going to live forever.... :biggrin2: )

Morning

Another good day yesterday. A craft and art morning yesterday with B loving my various bits of card making equipment. I have lent her some to take home as I rarely use it now. The afternoon was a very informative trip round Townely Hall where a friendly guide gave us a bit of a private tour showing us things we may have not otherwise have seen.

Our table came back and we are very pleased with it. Sadly later we noticed a blemish which we reported immediately the restorer is very apologetic and is returning at 9.00 this morning to sort it out. Also coming this morning is the burglar alarm man as pur alarm is still faulty despite a new sensor last week. Whilst that is going on Briony and I will plant the sweet pea seeds in the greenhouse.

So after lunch its back to Coventry to take Briony home. Its been a good few days, and she has been a credit to them

Have a good day.

Here are some before and after photos of the table

Photo exhibition of Old Colne went down well. Most of the 'old' photos were within living memory, that's if you're old enough and still living, I asked the librarian where they had come from, she didn't know but perhaps Christine Bradley may know. Over to you Wendy.

I always like old photos. I am registered on Chester le Street facebook page and love to see the ‘old’ photos of my childhood. Last time we visited there most of what I remembered had gone !

Do you know how long the exhibition is there for? I do like an old photo and it would be fascinating for one who's only lived in the area for 20 years :good:

Back home after taking the car for a MOT. Road works in Colne are an absolute nightmare, 30 mins to do 2 mile. The walk back is only 1.5 miles as the crow flies but a bloody great big hill in the way. Wait for phone call then its off again.
When I find out who actually owns the Colne photos I may post a few of the more interesting ones.

Kev. March 8th I think. The exhibition is staged by Collin Bean.

I've had my walk, done a light veggie shop and had a sit on traffic duty. All boxes ticked, now I can have a guilt free vegetate!

Happy Birthday Kev!

Ken, the photos are from the Colin Bean Collection and most of them, but not all, were taken by him. The whole point of the project is to make otherwise hidden photographs available to all so I see no problem in them being posted on here. I know you will credit Mr Bean.
We have about 8 people in today happily looking at other collections which have been locked away in a back room for years.
