A good hour in the shed. I have refined both the billets to 2" diameter and with the PCD of the crank pin position marked on one end and drilled with a witness hole with a centre drill. Then I removed the vise from the vertical mill and sorted out a 7/16" mill for cutting the surplus material from the centre of the billet. First job tomorrow is to sharpen that cutter and speed up the spindle on the mill. All according to plan and yes, I looked back to make sure I am not making the same mistake I made with the last engine which led to a smash!

Pilates this morning, followed by some soup making for the week and a bit more crafting. Nearly there with that. This afternoon the 4 mile circuit walk to pick up my prescription then this evening its yoga. Have a good day all

A trip to the recycling centre this morning to get rid of the last of the rubble from the old fireplace. I'm then over to middle offspring's house for a bit of plumbing, we're moving the washing machine from the kitchen to the large walk in cupboard that was a general 'dumping ground' for everything. It'll now be a very useful laundry room and keep a small boy away from washing machine controls

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
All went well yesterday but it was a hard day.... I shall be in the shed as usual this morning but taking it easy for the rest of the day. I see nothing militating against a short walk at midday.... (I got plenty of exercise yesterday!)

Morning
I have one more craft thing to make this morning, then I am finished. I have picture to draw ready for a zoom online art class tomorrow with Jeremy Ford, then I will take the day as it comes. I still haven’t washed the flagstones in the back garden so depending on the weather I may do that. Pilates and yoga at tea time at the studio.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Looks like another boring overcast day here in Barlick Sue so flag washing could be a goody as long as you don't make it rain!

This morning was all about recovering from yesterday and getting my ducks in a row for tomorrow. So I did jobs as varied as storing carpet remnants and disposing of old carpet and underlay. Then I sharpened three 7/16" milling cutters, a blunt 3/8" and the standard 1" cutter that I do most of my work with. I shall start tomorrow by speeding up the mill, tidying up the parts for the next engine, fastening the crankshaft blank down and starting to =mill out most of the surplus from the gap between the faces of the shaft to cut down on what has to be removed by interrupted cutting. And yes, I've decided to make two crankshafts....

I shall be in the shed for at least an hour before breakfast working on my two crankshafts. I see nothing in the forecast to stop me having my midday sit and a walk. The rest of the day will take care of itself.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I started this morning by refining my measurement and getting set up to cut out the excess metal from the middle of the crankshaft. Then I got all my parts tidied up and put in a ready use box. I made a bad start with a bum cutter that was cutting badly and over size but soon realised and swapped to a better cutter which is doing a clean tidy job. I finished the morning by muck shifting until knocking off time. Tomorrow I can go in and get straight into cutting.

Morning
It was a bitter damp cold day yesterday, no flag washing done in the end and with snow forecast on Monday and Tuesday and more cold weather I have decided to postpone the job for a week . I feel I will run out of time before our trip to France in two weeks. I did however finish my craft sewing, Kath came round for a cuppa and to collect the bits I had made. 9 lavender bags, 6 embroidered Easter Egg heat resistant mats, and 4 Easter bunnies holding packets of smarties. I also donated 4 twiddle blankets I had made for my u3 a craft group before lockdown , but I never returned to the group afterwards. Twiddle blankets are little squares of soft fabric rather like a sewn up cushion with little items for sufferers of dementia to pull and twiddle with rather than pulling at their clothes and themselves Today i have a zoom art class with Jeremy Ford from 10.00- 4.00. I shall have to set up quickly on the kitchen table after breakfast as we have been advised not to use the dining room table for another week following its renovation. I have zoom pilates at 5.30 pm. Thats my day, have a good one

It's looking more gloomy than yesterday here in Barlick Sue but perhaps not as bad a chill from the NE wind. I hope you aren't inconvenienced too much by the weather....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We had a glimpse of the sun and it tempted me to go out. I've had me walk and a twenty minute sit on traffic duty but came home when it started mizzling. Not too bad for temperature as long as you were sheltered from the wind.

I shall be in the shed as usual for an hour before breakfast working on my shafts. It should be dry at Midday so a walk and some light veggie shopping in the square at Chaudrey's is on the cards. I'll take a view on traffic monitoring later....

Morning
This morning is Haslingden art. After lunch I need to fetch the missing item from my prescription from the chemist. I may drive as I want to tackle the first of a long list of sewing tasks following on from Maxine's session last week. Pilates and yoga are finished for the week.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
That sounds sensible Sue as it makes best use of your time.
I have had an hour and a half in the shed. Most of it spent cutting out my shaft but then quite a lot of time sharpening 7/16" cutters. I know where I am starting tomorrow.....

Slow but sure and no mistakes.....

I shall do my usual slow and careful hour in the shed before early doors shopping at the Cathedral of Choice at 07:00. Nothing in the weather forecast to stop a later walk and sit on traffic duty so it's looking like a good day.

Morning
Hairdressers this morning which will make me late for u3 a Art. I had to move my appointment from my usual Wednesday because of my day workshop on line. The hairdressers is half way to Tod at Littleborough so I won’t be too late. Then its lunch at the Lake with Wendy and Keith. Bob is out this evening and I hope to finish knitting my jumper.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
In other words another full and productive day. I try to do them but I have to stop for a rest more often than you!

Once again only one image needed. I did the small cuts on the blank I was working on yesterday and started cutting the main slot on the other. An hour and a quarter and slow but steady progress.
I have done the weekly shop and put everything away. Not sure if I will cook veggies today, I may leave them until tomorrow as I still have some of last week's left.

The best laid schemes o' mice and men gang aft agley!
A text message took me to the pharmacy, while I was there I paid Gulam the 70p I owed him from yesterday and got a pack of dried onion flakes. Just to round the morning off I called in at the Co-op and got the water biscuits I forgot this morning.
Now I shall get settled in and perhaps get a bit of veggie cooking done!
