Hopefully Evri have improved their delivery serviceBig Kev wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 17:25 Ordering a new lithium ion battery for my 13 year old Dyson DC34 handheld vacuum cleaner. It comes with a replacement filter and a 5 year guarantee, I thought that was quite reasonable for £17. The original battery doesn't hold a charge for very long (around 3 minutes with the 'boost' button on, when new this was around 6). Hopefully I'll get another 13 years out of it.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Many happy returns Stephen.
I shall be in the shed at 06:00 finishing the second crank pin and getting set up for muck-shifting the surplus from each side. I think I will be having a short walk but no sit as we are promised another dry, bright day similar to yesterday. The lack of wind and the strong sun gave a surprising amount of heat to the house, my CH was off for most of the afternoon.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Only one pic needed. Straight back into cutting the crank pin for the second crankshaft blank. Started the cuts with the HSS cutter, and when I got close swapping over to my tipped parting tool. 20 thou a cut and soon down to size. Then I changed back to the 3 jaw SC chuck and swept up my chips on Mrs Harrison. A nice hour and a quarter, good progress and no errors!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Happy birthday for yesterday pluggy. Today is Erins 9 th birthday, where does the time go.
Today I shall be posting a card to my cousin in California whose birthday it is next week. I think he is about 83. We are worried about him, we have always kept in close contact by email but we have heard nothing for months despite numerous long email letters from us. His niece in Southern California says he has been having internet and phone problems but she also tells me that his daughter thinks he is starting with Alzheimer's. So I have written , my normal chatty letter, asking him to get in touch if he can. I shall walk to the post office this morning to post it.
Bob will not come with me for the walk as we are expecting the man to come to look at the burglar alarm again. After changing 3 sensors and the wiring they have decided to change the main box. Its getting a bit crucial as we are off to France next week
This afternoon I am going to see Wendy and Barry for a chat, then this evening is my last pilates session of the week, in fact for three weeks as we are going away.
Have a good day all, keep warm

On this occasion they have, delivered on time by a very smiley girl who I thanked which made her smile even moreBig Kev wrote: ↑07 Mar 2023, 09:01Hopefully Evri have improved their delivery serviceBig Kev wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 17:25 Ordering a new lithium ion battery for my 13 year old Dyson DC34 handheld vacuum cleaner. With regard to the battery, a very good investment. It's not an original and is a 6000mah, by comparison to the the 5000mah that came out of it. It lasts a lot longer than the 3 or 4 minutes I was getting

Much cheaper than a replacement hand held vacuum cleaner.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I shall be playing out in the shed with my shafts but after looking at this morning's weather forecast I am going for my weekly shop to the Co-op this morning early doors before the worst of the bad weather hits us. After that I shall order my meat from the butchers and then take cover......

I am not venturing out today, having written off one car in a freak snowstorm on Owd Betts, I have no intentions of driving to art. Its not a taught session so home has much more appeal. I shall spend the day pottering on the sewing machine trying to get to grips with a particular technique that I have not done before. I am also going to sort out some unused sewing patterns that I can sell online at £5 each.
We had a lovely afternoon with Wendy and Barry yesterday. They were in such good spirits and looked so well, lets hope the ill health at the tail end of last year remains a distant memory.
Little snow yet but much forecast, stay warm and have a good day

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning Sue! What a good decision about not driving. I can remember days like this when I was setting off with the wagon and if I'd had the choice I would have stayed inside. You have the freedom to do it and it's safe!
I have been in the shed for an hour and marked both blanks for cutting the side shafts and then I made two steel buttons I could glue into the gap I have cut to stop the pressure of the centre from distorting it, believe me, if you don't it will!

Then I went for early doors shopping at the Co-op and that is done and brought back and put away. I rang Stuart my butcher and ordered my chicken and meat for delivery this evening. Whether it snows or not I am ready for it.....

I shall be staying indoors. Shed in the morning at 6AM then my second sleep and then veggie cooking for the next week. (I did the shopping yesterday before the snow came.) Then reading and this evening my butcher will deliver my meat. Hopefully all this nastiness will be gone by Monday and we'll get back to normal.

Very simple this morning. An hour's patient muck shifting...... Boring but it needs to be done!

Morning
Well after a day of wet snow and absolutely nothing sticking, this morning we have woken to the real thing. Bob should be driving to Harrogate to man a stand at a model engineering fair, needless to say he is not going. I should be lunching with Wendy and Keith but as I doubt I can even get the car out of the garage i think it will be a bacon buttie at home. I hope it all goes by Sunday morning as we are due to drive to Coventry and then onwards to the ferry to France on Monday. I spent the day playing with my sewing machine yesterday, today I may do some art.
Have a good day all

I've finished veggie cooking and am ready for a read. It's still bright and sunny out there and the snow is retreating nicely. See you all later....

Roads all clear, we managed our lunch out but Bob never got to Harrogate as the M62 has been static all morning all the way to Rochdale and beyond. It was still static when we went out to lunch at 1.00 pm. We have decided to drive up tomorrow for the morning then come back and pack

We have a frost first thing but I think the roads will be fine.
I shall be putting my chicken in the oven and then going in the shed for an hour before breakfast. Then brown the chicken and deal with it and perhaps an easy day......

Morning
We don’t seem to have had any more snow overnight despite the forecast, so our trip to Harrogate will be on. Then afterwards we shall pack, top up the bird feeders , and water all my plants and seedlings in the greenhouse. I shall have to uncover the latter and hope they survive the next few cold days. I have not arranged for anyone to look after the seedlings so hope the watering will see them through the two weeks. Otherwise I shall have to replant. I don’t want to lose them as they were a present, unusual sweet peas.
Thats it for today , have a good one
