Work on the front lid this morning. You may remember I screwed the front lid up on the last engine I built so this morning I went at it very carefully. I am on the last lap but that will do for tomorrow. There is no rush!
Just seen your post Sue, glad you are back in the hutch safely. take it easy today!
And I hope Bob's puncture is repairable and doesn't need a new tyre.

Stanley, this is on the Brittany Ferries facebook page today referring to yesterday. We were on the Brittania..

Only Armorique, Pont Aven, and Salamanca managed to dock in France today, only the port of Roscoff seems not to be on strike, which is not surprising because it is the base port of the company, and for them the season finally begins.
Normandy, Cotentin, Mont St Michel and Brittania are immobilized in Portsmouth……

Bob will take the tyre down to the tyre place this morning. From what we could see there is a small nail embedded in it

I hope he gets it repaired, if it's only a nail it should be OK. I have had my walk and a sit on traffic duty. Not very warm but acceptable. I have declared winter over and put the Crombie overcoat back in the wardrobe for the summer......

Our outlook isn't so bad Sue......
Today I shall be in the shed finishing my lids. Not a lot of chance of a walk from the forecast but I would like to go for some veggies into Town Square so I might break a rule and ignore the rain!

A nice hour in the shed.... Careful work on the front lid bringing it to the same point as the back one. Ready for marking out with hole positions for mounting them on the cylinder.

Morning

Well three days travelling and clock changes caught up with me last night. I was in bed asleep by 10.00, woke at 5.00 went back to sleep and woke at 7.00. I still feel tired. Its art at Haslingden today then an end of term lunch. This afternoon I will be packing for our weekend away in Wales with Wendy and Keith and this evening is a wine social with the u3a wine appreciation group.

Have a good day all.

I have been brave and gone out to Town Square for my veggies despite it looking like rain. Just a few spots, that's all and I have most of tomorrow's veggies in the house. (Certainly the ones I know the Co-op won't have!)

I shall be in the shed with me castings and then early doors shopping at 07:00. The forecast says it won't be raining at midday so a walk could be on the cards.....

Morning

It was a good art session and a nice lunch yesterday but I still felt tired. In fact in the afternoon I fell asleep in the chair. Unfortunately I was holding a cup of tea which went everywhere, chair, carpet, cushions and me. I was lucky it had cooled a bit !

U3a art this morning but Wendy and I are only staying for the demonstration by one of the members, then we are setting off for Wales. We are staying 3 nights in a hotel in the valleys near Llangollen ( I think) the forecast is just OK, but then it is only April. Last year this week we stayed in Filey with Wendy,Keith, Barbara and Bill, in Jeremy Fords apartment. It was a sunny cold week there and wet here.

Have a good day everyone

Organised as usual Sue and no shame about falling asleep either! I do it often but make sure I'm not balancing anything.

It's always a good day when I get to use Johnny's 1927 lathe and I was in there this morning Dividing the back lid by six and drilling the clearance holes for 4BA in the lid. I then used that lid to mark the positions of the holes needed in the front lid whilst remembering that this one is complicated by the fact that the bottom two are 5BA and countersunk on the front side. All of them have to be positioned with regard to the steam ports. At closing time I had all the holes positioned and drilled. Then off to the Co-op for early doors shopping which has been dealt with and put away.

I shall be in the shed as usual but not until after I have prepared my chicken and popped it in the small oven for its 4 hour roast. I shall deal with that when I rise from second sleep and then finish cooking the veggies that didn't get done yesterday, mainly the greens.
I shall be aiming for a walk at midday as well, the forecast looks dry......

This morning's work is hard to describe. I was refining my lids, making sure the front lid fits the target on the bed and checking that my witness marks are accurate. Fiddly work but all accomplished. I can go forward now with the cylinder or the bed, whichever takes my fancy.

I'm off back to bed now leaving my chicken arguing with itself..... A nice part of the day when I get a reward for getting out of bed at 02:30!

Should be another good day today Sue. Better than worrying about protests in France! You are well out of it and from the sound of the news Easter isn't helping much....

Straightforward drilling and tapping for the connection between the front lid and the cylinder. Ending up after an hour and a quarter with job done. Tomorrow I can do the same for the back lid.....

Tea is in the slow cooker, a bit of lunch and then Skipton Railway Station. Train to Leeds to pick our Ruby up off the Birmingham train then back to Skipton. Pick the car up then go to Silsden to collect our Isla. Ruby is with us for at least a week, the girls have plans, as they do. :extrawink:

Morning

It was a little chilly yesterday and remained so, and cloudy till late afternoon. I see Rochdale was basking in a beautiful Spring day. We had a trip on the Llangollen canal on the famous aqueduct and in the afternoon visited Plas Newydd, also Llangollen.

Today is due to be nice, our last day. We are making quite a detour on our way home via Powys Castle where Wendy and I want to visit the Kaffe Fasset exhibition. He is a famous American designer, especially of knitting. His patterns are something many knitters aspire to creating. I couldn’t miss the chance to go being so near. We shall be home early evening.
