Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We stayed dry until 4PM Sue.... I hope Bob had the same at the park.
Today I shall be in the shed working on my glands. Then, after a sleep I might get a walk in before it rains. We shall see.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
This morning the task was to finish installing the studs and fitting the glands to the piston and valve rods. As you can see that was done and the tools put away. Tomorrow could be the cross head slide.....

Morning
We ended up walking in to Rochdale. Bob had a lot of money to bank for the park takings and I wanted to pick up my silver charm bracelet from the jewellers where I hah had 3 charms added. We stopped for a coffee in town before we walked back. I sewed in the afternoon and spent some time sat in the conservatory with a cuppa browsing the internet for some sewing supplies . It really went cool when it started to rain about 3.30 pm, so I made another cuppa and sat in the lounge which is where I wa when Bob got back at 4.00pm. It was pilates and yoga at the studio in the evening and rather chilly.
Today I will go to the garden centre for veggie seeds, this evening is pilates.

Take Ruby back today for us. A drive to Skipton and then the train to Leeds and see her onto the Birmingham train. Had her and her cousin Isla for just over a week. Summer holidays probably the next time we will see her.

Bob says Thanks Kev, the foil works a treat. No more problems. We have mounted it on a bit of board propped up on the wall behind the routerBig Kev wrote: ↑06 Apr 2023, 08:02Is there room to put a bit of tin foil between the router and the sensor to see if it stops any RF interference? Bob has just had a thought that the wifi router may be interfering with the alarm sensor in the lounge. They are positioned only inches from each other and the problem started when we changed the router in December.

Oneguy scores again.... well done Kev.
I shall be in the shed, most likely making the crosshead slide guides. Then Veggie shopping in the Square. After that whatever takes my fancy,,,,, That's the good bit about being old and retired.

Morning
Its another cold day, wet this afternoon. This morning I have no art so will make a rare drop in to zoom pilates. I only make the Thursday class in holidays and then only if we are at home. After zoom pilates I will be zoom flower shopping before lunch probably at Lidl or Morrisons. I need tulips for art tomorrow and some flowers for the cemetery on Saturday as I shall be meeting my sister Jane there and then on to lunch . Mum would have been 100 on Monday, deeply loved and missed by Jane and I . We were initially viewing a flat for Jane’s daughter Emma but the landlord has let it to his friend. This afternoon our friend Kath is coming round for a cuppa and a natter.

Morning
At last the rain has stopped and we have a sunny morning, though i think it is due to rain a little this afternoon. I have art this morning and the usual Friday lunch at the Italian with Wendy and Keith. We are thinking of trying the Shepherds again soon as it has been completely redecorated and the meal write ups are good….they seem to be serving veg again but it still seems heavily fried or grilled.
Yesterday my Apple pencil arrived from ebay. It was much cheaper than from Apple or Amazon, and I have already had a go at some ipad art. Its great to sit and doodle with . I still have to perfect the writing to text, its a very strange sensation writing on the screen and at the moment my writing is a little obscure. The pencil is also much more accurate as a touch screen stylus than the cheap one I was using and certainly more accurate than my finger. Normally by now I have about 10 errors in my typing, but I have none.
Sadly our alarm went off again last night just 10 minutes after we were in bed. Bob checked it out, put it on again and it was fine. It looks like its not cured yet!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
There is nothing worse than an intermittent fault and that's what you have in that alarm. Most annoying and it would drive me potty!

This morning I started by giving Mrs Harrison a good clean and then lubricating it. I did this because we are moving over to the vertical mill and working on the crosshead slide guides. So, not a lot of actual progress, just cutting both guides to size and setting them up for cutting.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
What a day yesterday, the rain started at 10 and got heavier as the day went on. At last no rain forecast and there are blue skies.
Today is Bacup market then Bob is off to Derby for a meeting of Model Engineers from the Northern Association. The plans for my day have changed several times. First it was to be a quiet day gardening, then it became a day for meeting my sister for lunch, visiting the cemetery and looking at a flat in Tod for Emma. The flat has gone, the meal called off and the cemetery trip postponed till tomorrow. Next idea was to join Wendy and Keith and our friends Joan and Eddie for a meal. Joan has been ill since February and has had several possible diagnoses, plus multiple trips to A&E. Yesterday she was there again and is now on a ward awaiting an operation to rectify her heart function. Thus our meal is called off. Finally Wendy and I have decided to have a day to ourselves, a trip to Boundary Mill and fish n chips at the restaurant. We haven’t had a day out together for years.
Bob will be back about 6.00 pm.
No problems with the alarm last night, Bob put an extra layer of foil on the board.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I hope Bob's modification has worked. Yes, today looks like being one of the most pleasant so far this year. I shall go for a walk when I have dealt with my chicken after second sleep.

I carried on cutting the guides for the cross head slide. Some very fine and careful milling of the long slot and I finished up ready for the final cut which will be relatively easy. That will be a nice starter tomorrow.

I shall be in the shed at 06:00 working on my guides.... The forecast looks good enough for a walk and a sit later on.
I hope Sue and Bob manage a night without the alarm going off!
Later.... laundry dealt with and another load of washing started. A house person's work is never done.....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Quite a big cut for the VM this morning and as soon as I started into it I knew I needed to attend to my cutter. It took a lot of work to get it back to working sharpness so it was half an hour before I got started. However, I have them done now and cleaned up. Ready for drilling and fastening to the bed. That will do for tomorrow.

No Stanley the alarm did not go off
.
Its a dull day today. I shall shoot over to the cemetery first thing after breakfast as I am not now meeting Jane. When I get back I want to plant potatoes, mangetout and beetroot seeds. This evening we are out for a curry, treating Claire and family for Adams birthday. I had a lovely afternoon out with Wendy yesterday, and we intend to do it again. We both bought a couple of tops and a summer jacket at a considerable discount but my eyes water at the full prices! I only tend to buy what I can’t make for the price

We have a visit to Boundary Mill in the offing, some bits required for our next hols. Haven’t been for ages, it’s got so big it’s not easy to get round, that sounds daft but it’s true.
