I saw that report. So he can afford a swimming pool eh?
The main thing that has grabbed me is the luxury of having a new boiler which is more responsive and efficient.
My new mixer tap is a luxury compared with the old one (at least 35 years old....) The flow shuts off with the slightest pressure and there are no drips or leaks!

It's great to see a 13-year-old finding a special fossil and wanting to be a palaeontologist when he's older...

One for Tizer. My pal in Hawaii sent me some photos of some jewelry he had been making from Labradorite stone. Never heard of Labradorite but he get lots of off cuts from a firm where he does machine computer repairs. It appears to be one of these semi precious stones that can have iridescent optical effects. All based on some mythical discovery with large helping of astrology all to influence the gullible to buy them to promote healthy lifestyles. Labradorite.
It is attractive and has been popular for a long time, originally for its beautiful iridescence but later by the promotional efforts of the `crystal' folk making all the usual claims. A type of feldspar which crystallised in a particular way that led to the lamination that causes iridescence. Polished items are quite cheap as long as you avoid the mystics!

The fact that BG have rendered their account for July on time. First time since October 2021!
Susan and Mick visit today with two great grandchildren, Lily and Kahara, who are going to help me with my shopping. That should be interesting! And then we'll have lunch. It's a good day!

The picture below is the August one on our kitchen calendar. When Mrs Tiz saw it she sent her sister a copy and they both thought it was great fun. So here it is shared on OG!

I thought it might be you Tom, looking good! What are you doing to it?
As for what grabbed me it was the fact that we got very close to the heating cracking on last night as we dropped into single figures. What a great summer!

I find my Kyrgyzstanian felt skull cap a great help. I wouldn't blame anyone for giving in and having a blast of CH. The thermostat is set on 19C and the core temperature yesterday fell to a shade above 20C. I said I wanted to get my new boiler in before the heating season started, I only just managed it by the skin of my teeth!

Later, I had an attack of where are they now? I have far too many shirts and have a habit of wearing the same ones over and over again so of late have been wearing shirts that haven't been used for a long time. I noticed that the one I am wearing today is by ;United Colors of Benetton'. I haven't seen that name in adverts for a while so I looked them up. See THIS Wikipedia article that details a roller coaster ride for the company which I find still exists.
