Today I will be unpacking. As it was hot and sunny with a mild breeze on Friday prior to departure I did most of the washing and late evening did the ironing so only bedding and towels plus what we wore the past two days to wash. Eileen P.s what a player Roger is my favourite player I love watching him never raises a sweat. Eileen

Starting to clean up the house ready for visitors staying next week. I'm not very good at cleaning  But I do like having friends to stay, so it's all worth while
Welcome back Eileen, not very good drying weather for all that washing.

You can say that again Wendy! Jack and I will be dodging showers and I shall be having a day gently filing away at castings in the shed. The resumption of shed work is tiring but getting easier and the slow improvement in my knees continues as long as I don't do too much. Daughter Susan visits for an inspection today and of course I am still waiting in for my new lens for the Nikon wonder camera!

Boring I know but same as yesterday. I'll be glad when waiting for the courier delivering my parcel arrives and I can get back to my normal routine of two hours in bed in the afternoon.

Library day then more attempts to clean the house. I've been distracted by paperwork these last couple of days. When it came to tidying my "office", which needs to become a bedroom for next week, I realised how much stuff had been piling up. At least I have a grip on our finances again now!

Morning Maz! One of the reasons I like making roast stews is that cooking is taken care of for a couple of days! As for housework..... It looks just as clean if you clean it two days late......
Did I see a report that you were having frost?

Today has been a sad day, the funeral of a close friend, of my own 'youthful' age. She died last week after a 12 year fight against ovarian cancer. She was a courageous and inspirational lady as well as fun-loving and caring. I shall miss her. RIP Val

It's a bugger. The older we get the more friends we lose. If anyone finds a cure, let me know. John Pudney once told me that this was the reason he actively sought out younger people as friends.
Today is shopping, reading BET. Posting Stanley's View article and deciding whether to make another attempt to buy an automatic lens for the D200! It's all go......

Today we are shopping for a new lead for one of the laptops and taking the other one in for repair. Stanley live by Dave's motto if you can afford the lens buy it. He has a collection of camera's including a Leica Digilux3, a Cannon digital with numerous lens, 3 Hassleblads, a 1939 Leica, 2 Bronica large format,a full set of Kodak retina's as well as several minox camera's and two plate camera's. Still it keeps him quiet. Eileen

Today I have been in Southport on an allday art course run by the artist Jeremy Ford Landscapes in pastels. I loved it. We did two pictures in the day and I shall attempt to copy them and post them.

Also today I received a photo of Mum's and Dad's headstone in situ. Not only commemorating their lives but also that of our long lost family ancesytorThomas Maylard who died aged 32 in 1877,in a train accident in Burnley( previously reported on our old site) I would like to link to it here but I don't know how.

I've been neglecting outside jobs recently but the sun is shining so henhouse cleaning & grass cutting are on the list for today. I have already been out down the field collecting horse poo but was put off by an incident involving the metal handle of my barrow, my hand and the electric fence. The shock made me shove the barrow (which I was pushing under the fence) a bit too hard and it tipped over, spilling the contents onto a very stony part of the track. I've retreated indoors for a coffee.
This afternoon we have a History Society organised visit to Lothersdale Mill to see the water wheel. Otherwise I would have suggested that you pop up for a cuppa Sue once you have had your meeting with the distant cousins.

I have had a look around the forums on the old site and there is nothing else coming up about Thomas Maylard. Can you remember if it was in a topic on it's own or part of another one?

Aw...sorry to hear you lost your load of s#*t, Wendy. And the electric fence thingy...gosh...is the hair now standing on end?
Are you going back for your booty once you have calmed down?

I spent an hour and a half trying to find a 1911 Census return today. I found the summary book containing the entry, but do you think I could find the actual census record. Not on your Nellie. I even have the exact address, followed all numbers given on the summary and trawled through enumeration districts either side, to no avail. I can't understand it. I've never had such trouble before. In the end I turned the 'pooter' off in disgust. My saintly patience was too sorely tested...
( it will play on my mind at about 3am of course....)

If you look below the reply box there is a tab with "Upload Attachment" on. Take it from there. I was searching for it the other day and gave up. Had to read one of Ian's "How to" topics.
