I'll bet there were a few committee meetings about it whatever the process!

I have just finished cooking and tidying up. That's that job out of the way for another week. I like weekly tasks like that with clean edges, they have a start and a finish. I suppose that's how I run my life. in bite size, easily digestible, chunks!

Another bus fire A35. No mention as to whether it was a battery powered bus, but the ferocity of the fire looks a lot like it.

Remember the explosion and fire at the High Court in London last week? Apparently that was the battery from an electric bicycle, and there was another such yesterday in a block of flats in London, resulting in a dramatic window rescue. I read that two out of three bicycle sales now are of electric bikes.

It's inevitable that there will be a mass casualty event soon. What measures need to be taken here?

When you first raised the matter I alerted Susan and Mick as they both use electric bikes. There is also the matter of batteries in bulk being transported and catching fire. Look up cargo aircraft destroyed by battery fires.....

The battery fire problem is said to the result of poorly made batteries being sold cheap on web sites. They're made abroad and imported here. It's one way for China to cause some mayhem in the West - I wonder if the Chinese government turns a blind eye or even encourages it?

That's what "they" want you to think. . .

I don't believe it for a moment. Remember the ship load of 'brand new made in Germany cars', which caught fire in transit, and are they sourcing batteries for new buses on ebay? I doubt it.

I was referring not to cars but to replacement bike batteries which are flooding the web.

Does this come under the heading of 'Chinese mayhem in the West'?

It's reached Manchester this week. Doesn't look too dangerous.

Not on that scale dare I suggest?

Now here's the 'Entierra del Sardina (again) on Ash Wednesday in Puerto de la Cruz. Link

The sardina is a bit underwhelming this year Id say, but all a lot of fun and very traditional. I like that.

Why celebrate the burying of a sardine? Or should I simply suspend disbelief and enjoy the spectacle......

It would a good idea for the fat bloke not to eat his lunch while still in the boiler! :laugh5:

If you can get in you can get out. The problem arises when an inexperienced person is in a tight space. They tend to panic and cavers will tell you that that makes people swell up.

I think that will be the gas works building Stanley where my Uncle Bob used to have his building and joinery business. I think it has been converted to units.

The planning meeting, for the proposed 128 houses on the Barnsey Shed site and very wet field next to it is on at Rolls Social Club this evening. It'll be streamed live if anyone fancies a watch. Starts at 7pm.
