Nice. Is it a week end break. We are looking for some for when this is all over
Wednesday to Saturday, we booked it through easyJet. Bit of a bargain really.

Have a nice time Kev, we loved it when we went. Buy yourself a travel ticket at the airport, works on everything, trams, metro and bus, pretty cheap too. City circular tram if it rains.

Nothing as exotic here! I shall be in the shed at 06:00 doing useful things to my current engine.... We are promised snow from 06:00 today to 06:00 on Friday on a yellow warning. We shall see what we shall see but it doesn't look conducive to walking!

This morning I focus on lids. The first one I tackled was the back lid. I cleaned it up and reduced its thickness before making the register for the bore fit. Then I moved on to the front lid. So far I have adjusted the register of the gland with the target on the bed. Tomorrow I shall address the drilling for the piston road and the gland. At no time did I have an easy grip on the lids, much of this work depends on friction. No mistakes and quiet process, just what we like!

Morning

Yesterday went well. It took 50 minutes each way, Bob was seen on time and we were back home within 3 hours having bought steak and a cake for tea. Only one candle though, 75 candles is a fire risk :laugh5: . I managed an afternoon of pattern drafting, did some washing and even managed a pilates class.

I had planned on going to art this morning but it has been cancelled because of snow, of which we have none at the moment, although it is due any time. Our appointment is late afternoon but if it snows we will leave earlier.

Thats it. Have a good day

I hope the threatened snow is as light as it is at the moment! Lots of warnings but no precipitation. I shall go to bed and hope for the best!

I've been out to the Cathedral of Choice for my milk and apples and so have no need to shop again until Monday with a bit of luck. We should be back into more clement weather after today so that means nothing driving me out into bad weather! Now I can sit back and watch the world trying to be wintry outside.... :biggrin2: :good:

It has gone beyond the trying stage up here. Easterly winds and snow aren't a good mix!

That's what I thought when I saw the wind direction this morning and the fact it's forecast to gust up to 40mph later. You came to mind. If it's any consolation it doesn't look like the start of a big weather pattern. We are back into milder weather tomorrow.... Best of luck Wendy! :good:

Bacup always gets the worst of the weather Sue!
I shall be in the shed as usual at 06:00 and thanks to my quick trip out to the Co-op yesterday morning I don't need to go out of the house for anything. That's good because the present wet snow is going to be replaced by sleet at first and then cold rain. February is a lousy month!

More careful work on the front lid. This included drilling it 1/4" for the piston rod and 1/2" for the piston rod gland. Only one pic needed. The cylinder now has two lids.

Morning

All clear here, I hope elsewhere the snow is clearing too. The weather forecast yesterday was weird. On every weather map we looked at and even one report said Rochdale had 5 cm of snow. We did not, we had nothing in Rochdale itself and barely a covering up here. Shawclough village was the first sign of anything.

We had another good run both ways yesterday and Bob was seen early. We had lunch here, leaving at 2.00 pm and we were back home by just after 5.00 pm. Today is a lunchtime appointment so we will take sandwiches with us for an early lunch before hand . We have booked a meal at our favourite Italian restaurant with Wendy and Keith for an early tea. That way we can avoid too many people. Bob has to try to keep away from colds etc, as the low dose chemo tablets that he takes to enhance the radiotherapy treatment may affect his immunity.

Otherwise no further plans for today. One week down 4.5 to go

Have a good day all

Glad to hear it's going relatively well Sue and yes, you're right about the weather being weird. A case in point is that despite the improvement in the weather, the atmospheric pressure is still dropping, it's down on 969mb now and still falling. I have checked this reading against Ronaldsway which is always in sync with us.
That's a very low reading and generally means the onset of bad weather but that doesn't appear to be happening today. I suppose we will have to wait and see.....

That's as good as I have been hoping for. Good. Please give Bob my best wishes......
Today I shall be in the shed as usual for an hour from 06:00 onwards. Before I go in I shall prepare the pork belly I got yesterday in my meat order and put it in the oven to roast. I don't know why but I got an urge to roast pork belly earlier this week. Very strange and there is one sure way of getting it out of my system!

I shifted my attention to the piston rod and piston. It took me 45 minutes to make the rod.... You might well ask why. The answer is that I had to make two because when I had almost finished the first one I realised it was an eighth of an inch short. I hadn't checked my measurement! So I had to find a piece of 1/4" rod and make another. Then I had a clean up of Mrs Harrison and went for a furtle in my treasure chests for a piece of bronze to make the piston. As usual they gave me a solution.
The bleeding obvious piece of advice based on this morning is measure twice before cutting once. And second, build up your treasure chests as soon as possible. Never time wasted and you should see the price of 2" diameter bronze rod today.....
On another matter, the pork belly is roasting in the oven.

Morning

Thank you all, and to round it all off a nice meal out with friends. The thing about an Italian meal is pasta is high carb low fibre for Bob but I usually have traditional meal with veg. It works well.

This morning is Bacup market then perhaps a walk somewhere to get some fresh air and a bit of fitness thrown in. No other plans for today.

Have a good day all

Morning Sue! It's a much better weather prospect today and the outlook is even milder so yes, there is a chance of some exercise. I shall go veggie shopping later after I have had my second sleep and dealt with my roast belly pork, a treat in store! Best wishes to you both and I hope you have a good day and an even better weekend.....
