I shall do 'boring' things like work on my engines and watch F1 at 5pm... (using apostrophes as much as possible....)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Thought you had finished the boring and was on to final fettling now, thanks for the reminder that F1 is on , I lose track of the weeks on/ off.
Plenty of motor sport on ITV4 earlier in the Day (shows I am in London for now as cannot get this on freeview in Barnoldswick) , with Bradley Wiggins and the Other British Chap with the Sky Riders doing so well in the Tour De France ITVs coverage got duplicated on ITV4 and ITV1 , I note ITV4 are doing a new series on cycling matters in their new season of scheduling , can only be good for Hope technology in town.
The freecycle chaps came around so one will be enjoying packing for their move and the others sent feedback thanking me for some house plants for a recently opened small residential home for people with mental issues. ( hope the plants grow a bit and flower up ! )

You haven't been keeping up, plenty of boring done on the eccentric straps last week. I shall be in the shed again and watching F1 with reading and having my afternoon sleep in between. Lovely!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
My turn to be pack leader of the monthly walk by the Northern Greyhound Rescue charity support group. These walks take place in different towns all over Lancashire. Naturally I suggested we set off from The Greyhound pub in Barlick and the local press might even come down to take a photo.
I’m planning to go over 40 steps then down to Moorgate. Those dogs that can’t cope with stiles will then be sent up Folly Lane with instructions to turn round and retrace their steps after 30 minutes.
The rest will come with me across the field next to Newfield Edge, turn left on Esp Lane up to Springs, turn right then go through the farmyard towards Midge Oyl and eventually rejoin Esp Lane, along Pickles Hippings, through Ouzeldale Wood and back to the pub for nibbles. And a pint of locally brewed Hare of The Dog I should imagine.
The weather’s perfect today, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Enjoying the warmer weather and working outside. Yesterday I was determined to be more like Maz and whizz through the house like a cleaning whirlwind.......
I managed an hour of gentle breeze........more of a waft than a whirlwind really. I'll try again another day.

I'm with you Wendy today I shall be enjoying the warm weather hopefully horizontally with a good book but some weeding to do so will do that first. For a change I haven't any washing. Dave thinks I am mad but I washed and ironed all the clothes I am taking to the charity shop. Eileen

My goodness it is hot here in France. We are trying to tidy the garden before our return later this week. Its too hot to work and now Bob has cut his leg with the hedge trimmer. I think he needs stitches but he is insistant that a plaster will do. We will see if the dressing holds.
Last week we went down to Cahors to see the Tour de France. great fun and good atmosphere./ It must be the fifth time we have seen ity now.
Laos last week both grandaughters went down with chicken pox, as we were here in Brittany we couldn't help out. Poor Briony at 8 months was really distressed. She even had them in her mouth and she cut a tooth as well. She must have been beside herself. There was little sleep in the SMITH household last week. All is now back to normal bar a few scabs. At least it is over with for both of them
When we arrived the garden was a wilderness, we really had to cut our way into the veggie patch even though the ground was covered with weed membrane. The tomatoes had died, gone black ( all the neighbours tomatoes have too), but I have good courgettes, leeks, runner beans, beetroot, little turnips, and cabbage as well as the potatoes, so we won't starve this summer when we are here.
Just having a brew and then I shall brave the heat and tidy up what I can of the hedge cuttings pre-accident

Sounds like you need to keep an eye on Bob! Ouch. Its warm here Sue despite a nice breeze, I have been muck collecting yet again but have just come in for a cuppa. Ian, I am just very lazy and lacking in willpower...but strangely happy

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Sue, I am sure you are well aware but I hope Bob is up to date on his tetanus, you don't really know whats been in the hedge, sounds painful.
Ian
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Thanks Ian. Yes we updated our tetanus vaccinations this year as we had both had a number of minor mishaps in the garden here and at home. Bob seems OK. He is walking around OK and no bleeding again.
Its too hot to go outside its up to 40C in the garden
Just heard that the sale of dads house has fallen through again

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Talked to a lady the other day whose house sale fell through because a perimeter fence that had planning permission wasn't noted on the Land Registry description. Cost her over £100 to get this rectified plus of course solicitor's time because of the failed sale. Could the solicitors be in favour of anything that extends the process?

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Library day today, and I need to make some courgette soup. I'm going to try courgette & fennel together.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Its a case of'can't raise the money Stanley.
Wendy I have a superb courgette soup recipe. I got it online but can't find the link
1 kg of courgettes chopped
1 onion
1 clove garlic
1 pint vegetable stock
seasoning
2 teaspoons of honey
herbs of choice. I used chives and fennel
Fry onions courgette
add stock and simmer till cougettes are soft
add honey and fresh herbs and seasoning
Liquidise. Put back in pan and add creme fraiche ( or cream or cream cheese)
serve with grated parmesan cheese
I think that was it
We have visitors this morning. Our french tutor has married a french girl whose family live near us. They are visiting there this week so callin in here. We may go out for lunch to the local creperie.
Then its back home to pack, and aperifs with our elderly neighbours. Ferry tomorrow
Goodness it is warm here, I am dripping just typing on the computer and its not 10.00 am yet. I have been out to water the plants before it gets really hot. I didn't water them last night as it was just too hot to venture out.

Thanks for the recipe Sue, I did something very similar but with a chopped fennel bulb. There's a couple of tubs in the freezer and some for lunch today.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Taking the laptops into repairs. One for some new software loading and one for a new lead. Bought one the other day but doesn't fit so we are taking that back and the computer with us so we get the right one this time.
Yesterday was hectic as some neighbours decided they would like to use our mobile home in Brittany next week. Sorted out there sailings they sail at 08.00am today only to find the computer at Brittany Ferries blipped and put them as foot passengers instead of taking the car. Thought the price was OK but spent last night changing the booking but the computer wouldn't do it so had to phone the port. They had difficulty but when eventually he managed to change the details he phoned me back, wouldn't accept responsibility for the error so cost our neighbours an extra £186 but at this late stage there was no choice. Eileen
