Site CPU usage has been steadily increasing since midnight (BST). I'll check the log.

I've added a dodgy IP range to the firewall and will monitor site stats for a bit.

It has been fine for me since about 6.45am. In fact it's been fast!

Hopefully I caught all of them, CPU looks to have settled down. I'll check in again a bit later.
Ian may take a look once he sees this (I've added a couple of IP ranges to the firewall).

I've added some more IP addresses, that flag up as spam, to the firewall. Hopefully that'll sort it.

If anyone notices anyone missing let me know just in case I've inadvertently blocked them :biggrin2:

The slow down is quite bad.
What has my attention is the fact that my kids, grand children and great grand children are congregating in Bath for one of my grand daughter's wedding on Saturday. The Australian contingent are there as well. Susan and Margaret went down yesterday. Margaret has had to buy a completely new outfit for the wedding because the one she had already bought wouldn't have been warm enough!

CPU was maxed out at that time. I've identified another IP range, from the logs, that flag up on spamchecker and added it to the firewall.

I received an email message from EDF yesterday. We always have our email software set for plain text. These were the hyperlinks at the end and they tool up much more space than the message. Why do they make them so long, there's enough letters and numerals to give a unique address to every atom in the universe (and all the others if we believe in the multiverse).

It's all got a bit sinister hasn't it? I posted a couple of clips of brass bands on here recently. I like the music but the main driver was the location - Saddleworth - which I knew quite well, and the general happy atmosphere shown.

I looked today on the Google news feed - which is usually my first port of call daily - and find an item featured about the closure of a brass band in South Yorkshire. That's beyond coincidence. It's as if there is the 'hand of Google' poised above at all times, and supervising my life.

I don't like it, and shall increase the steps I take to foil them in their quest to monitor my life.

Later that same day. . . This rather pleasing - from Facebook.

David, funny there is no mention in the Facebook text about a correct location making it easier for them to collect data and target their advertising......
Peter, I remarked the other day that it wouldn't surprise me if in the end the human race became extinct as we know it because they had made life too complicated.
What has my attention today is a wedding in Bath. My grand daughter Yiota is marrying Ashley and the whole of the clan has gathered there. Except for me of course. Pity but I am not fit to travel so far or be away from my own bed.

Video and images from the wedding have arrived as it happened. The weather relented and it was sunny and dry for them.

The gospel mission, on Valley Gardens, is on fire. Apparently the asbestos roof is going off like fireworks.

That solves a problem all round..... Nobody will be sorry to see it go. Now we need a good clean-up!
The fact that I had a big sleep. The site seems to be running OK so that will be a help.

I wonder who is going to pay for a proper clean up? The Clinic had the asbestos specialists in for a couple of weeks before they set about knocking it down. This will be a different kettle of fish to render the site safe. Will it be cordoned off after clearance with a notice about the covenant governing the footprint?

Apparently there is debris spread over quite a wide area so it'll be quite a major clean up. Valley Gardens has been closed off.

As far as I am aware, the building and site was "gifted" to the town when it was vacated for pastures new, (smart move). So, the bill will probably have to be picked up by the tax payer, one way or the other. I wonder if the councils, town or borough carry insurance to cover such eventualities? Like you say Kev it will need a proper clean up as it is right next to the children's play area and of course not far from the Gisburn Road Primary School.

Looks like an a electrical fault to me. Perhaps replace it with a mosque - probably more in demand than a Gospel Mission these days. That would surely not clash with the covenant.
