I phoyographed it on the bench top Cathy. It's not a light. It's a great help in a cooking operation.

I did think possibly a spoon rest or something that helps with excess fat, but really nothing comes to mind.
Maybe the shine is making it hard.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Ian has got it. Its a Kitchen Craft egg timer. You put it in the pan with the eggs and it changes colour as the eggs cook. A wonderful invention! (LINK)

Stone Serpentine Wall came immediately to mind. I looked them up and found that they are also called Serpentine Walls, Snake Walls and Crinkle Crankle Walls.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
You have got it Cathy. The name I was looking for was crinkle crankle. They were built like this because you could use far less bricks building a thinner wall but because of the curves it was as strong and durable as a far heavier wall.

A chain which doesn’t create a spark, or for working underwater so it doesn’t go rusty.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
You're on the right lines Gloria. Think about alternatives to it being a drive chain. What if it was used for communication?

Sorry no but it was a diver who rescued it from a sunken Liberty Ship off Skye. But what was it used for on that ship?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
You have all forgotten the answer. It was part of the much longer chain that connected the telegraph lever on the bridge of the ship with the indicator in the engine room thus allowing the Master to control the ships speed and direction of travel. The ship was one of the 'Liberty Ships' built in the US during the war to make up for the losses caused by the Nazi U-Boat campaign in the North Atlantic. (LINK)

They are obviously from a specific time period, 1920's perhaps. German Zeppelin Aerial reconnaissance?
