A nice quiet morning. I refined the finish of the flywheel and fitted it to the crankshaft. That'll do for this morning another quiet step forward. Now for breakfast!

Morning

All good on the Christie front , healing progressing according to expectations. We got back just in time for a very strenuous yoga session. I needed a shower afterwards and we followed that up with a celebratory glass of wine in the remaining sunny corner of the garden.

This morning we have no plans, heavy rain is preventing our weekly walk to the bank. This afternoon our friend Kath is calling round for a cuppa and a chat then its pilates and yoga at the studio at 5.15.pm

Have a good day all

Good news from Christie's Sue. A very good excuse for a glass of wine.
We have heavy rain as well. My way of dealing with that is to go back to bed..... No use recommending that to you....
Have as good a day as you can. I shall be trying hard over here in Barlick.... :biggrin2:

I shall be in the shed at 06:00 doing useful things but after that nothing is claiming my attention. Could be another lazy day as we are promised rain late morning on and I don't go walking in the rain now I haven't got a dog!

I spent this morning making the eccentric and fitting it on the crankshaft. I still have to install the set screw that will lock it to the shaft, that's the first job for tomorrow.

Morning

Today is a day out in Manchester. We have a voucher given us by Julia and family for a meal out at an Italian restaurant in Manchester for our birthdays . We have not had time to go with each week flashing by so we put it on the calendar some weeks ago for this week. We also have another of those city mystery books, for Manchester this time. We are going in on the 9.30 train, booked in for lunch at 12.30 and will spend the rest of the day on our mystery walk. We may just get back in time for my zoom pilates but not worried if I don’t we will walk a few miles during the day. The forecast is showers.

Sounds like a good day Sue and of course so much better now Bob has positive news. I hope the weather favours you and you have a dry walk. I would take a bet that it will stay dry.
As usual I shall go back to bed with your enthusiasm ringing in my ears...... :biggrin2:

I shall be in the shed at 06:00 being useful! Later this morning I expect to see Susan and Mick and I may blag them into changing my duvet covers for me..... (I hate that job!)
Apart from that, not a lot and the weather doesn't tempt me to go walking!

One task accomplished this morning, to install the Unbrako set screw in the eccentric that will lock it to the shaft after valve setting. You might wonder why it took almost an hour. Simple, I am getting old and I started off by installing the screw in the thin wall of the eccentric! So I started all over again and installed it in the correct, thick wall of the eccentric. No harm done, just an extra grub screw hole. I shall have my breakfast......

Morning

We had a very good day out yesterday, lovely lunch and home by 4 having walked nearly 4 miles on our mystery site seeing. It stayed dry and was really rather warm in the city. We were back in time for my zoom pilates and did nothing else except watch TV and doing a bit of genealogy. I like the Sewing Bee ( of course) but had the football commentary on my ipad. We are not really fans but fo get drawn in to an International competition, I think Sunday will be exciting!

Today I shall be giving my sewing room its annual thorough clean and tidy before we go to France later next week. If it doesn’t rain I have some plants to cut back that are now over. My mangetout peas are still producing a good handful every day although I had expecting them to be over. It looks like I am heading for a bumper runner beans crop but will not be here to enjoy them, I hope my neighbour will . The strawberries continue to produce and the raspberries are ripening nicely, and we have had some of the beetroot. On the whole not a bad haul for what is basically a flower garden.

I think it is on and off wet and dry today. Have a good day all

Susan and Mick came and we had a good natter and catch up. Susan changed my duvet covers for me and I have the bedding in the washer on a hot wash.
They both look well and we had lots to catch up on. We sent Mick out to the chippy and so we had our dinner together.

Today I shall be in the shed as usual and I will think before I do anything! Better than doing the job twice like yesterday....
I may go for a short walk later before it starts raining again but looking at the forecast there's not a lot of incentive!

First thing this morning I sorted out all the stock I need for the remaining parts of the engine. These are the connecting rod, the link between the eccentric and the valve rod, the governor stand, the main bearing and the eccentric strap. I started by doing the rough fettle of the most demanding part, the very rough governor stand casting which is all curved surfaces and rack of the eye rather than measuring. When I had that somewhere near I turned my attention to the eccentric strap and spent the rest of the morning with this in my El Cheapo mill/drill. I have a good start on that, two parallel sides and the right thickness to fit the eccentric. I shall go forward with that tomorrow. At the moment I am focussed on breakfast!

I was expecting mine to kick in but it didn't and I almost lit the stove in the front room but in the end I put up with it Sue. It's ridiculous but we may have to get used to it!
I shall prepare some belly pork for the slow cooker and then go in the shed with my engine at 06:00. I'm not expecting to go for a walk, we have overcast and rain forecast from 10:00 onwards. A long dad nap at dinnertime seems like a good idea!
Cheer up Sue, we can expect some warmer weather next week...... :biggrin2:

I continued working on the eccentric strap. I have milled all the external faces flat and parallel and deep enough to accept the 5BA nuts and bolt heads. Then I drilled the oil feed hole and the two 5BA clearance holes for the bolts which will hold the two halves of the strap together when it is split. That's the next stage with the strap, split is with a slitting saw and bore it to fit the eccentric.

Morning

Today is Bacup market, we don’t need much as we leave on Wednesday, in fact we have just discussed that we don’t need to go at all. I want to wash the bedding as this will be the driest day before we leave. Otherwise its back to cleaning and tidying my sewing room. I managed to get a bit done yesterday but need to get stuck in. Bob wants some England flags to decorate the railway track on Sunday, it may be too late now but we think Home Bargains has some, we have a big store at the other side of town.

So have a good day all, I see sun at the moment

"I see sun at the moment"
No sun here in Barlick. I have just taken the gravy off the belly pork and put it in the freezer so the fat separates out..... Just the right thing to be cooking on a summer's day like this!
Now I shall sit for a while with a pot of tea and watch the rain develop......

Back to cloud here.

We did a search in various shops for flags but no luck.

Talking of luck Bob won £2.50 on the lottery last night

Talking of bigger luck in our search for flags we found ourselves near Matalan. Bob said he wanted jeans for France so we went in. I bought a couple of t shirts, Bob two pairs of summer trousers/jeans and two short sleeved shirts. We went to pay and when they put in the number of our loyalty card it said we were lucky winners, all the contents of our basket was free all £105 worth. Apparently they do this once a month. We had our photo taken for the website. This sort of thing never happens to us.

A turn up for the book! Well done!
No hand outs this morning in the shed, Just an hour of careful work o0n the components for my current engine.
Not a lot of chance for a walk later either as we have a day of overcast and rain forecast. Deep and unalloyed joy!
