Yesterday afternoon the rain gradually subsided and we had heavy overcast. No sign at all of any thunder. At 20:00 it was still overcast and I'm sorry to say it felt cold as well but I don't know if that is because of my age. First thing this morning we had a light breeze and drops of rain on the wind but you couldn't really say it was raining. It is dry now and the flags are drying. The glass has risen slightly to 1008mb and is still tending to rise. The forecast is for a dry day of sunny spells and cloud. The constant West wind is light for most of the day but ends as moderate this evening. We can expect a high of 17C and a low of 8C tonight. We could have -2C wind chill later as the wind rises.....
The outlook is for another two cool days and then the rest of the week will be slightly warmer but overcast. September isn't looking very exciting as yet!

We have sunning also Gloria and if you are like us I think you will be safe enough with the washing. I've just got back from a walk and a quick shop in the Co-op.Amazing how there is always something you need if you go in and look. Some of the loot is for cooking later in the week. Nice to sit down!

Yesterday afternoon the sun gradually faded to overcast but remained dry. By 20:00 it was going dark early and we had no late sun. This morning first thing it was calm, overcast and dry. It hasn't changed since. The Glass is up on 1012mb and rising. The forecast is for a day of sunny spells and this afternoon they could be interspersed with light showers. The westerly winds will be light all day and this afternoon will tend to the north giving us a high of 16C and a low of 11C tonight with only a slight wind chill this afternoon. The outlook is for another cool and overcast day tomorrow but then warmer and drier for the rest of the week.

I'm happy to report it's sunny and warm out there. Veggie shopping done. A dose of new Otex in each ear and some potato crisps for a treat.... Things could be a lot worse!

Yesterday afternoon we ran out of sunshine and reverted to overcast. It got quite dark and threatening at one point but never developed beyond a light spatter of rain. By 20:00 we had 100% overcast but it was still dry. First thing this morning it was calm and overcast but dry, it's still the same. The glass is up on 1017mb and the forecast is for broken overcast and light rain in a couple of hours followed by heavy overcast all day but staying dry. The steady NE wind will strengthen gradually all day gusting to 45mph by evening. We can expect no more than 17C for a high today and 14C for a low tonight. The wind chill will increase to -3C this afternoon..... We can expect a much brighter and warmer day tomorrow but from then on we lose the sun and the weather cools down considerably. We are looking at the end of the year, 110 days until Xmas!
Later at 05:00. It has started raining but only very light.

We have an easterly wind, which is quite unusual, and it’s bringing dark clouds, it isn’t supposed to rain, but certainly looks like it could do.

It look like you escape the worst to come but we get it here in the south - have a look at the map in this article!
`Over a month's rain in two days forecast for southern UK' LINK

Coincidentally we watched this TV programme last night! :surprised:
`The Great Devon & Cornwall Floods' Channel 5
Although I remember the pictures and reporting at the time this programme is worth watching to get the full story and much more detail. We've got used to seeing terrible floods covering much bigger areas in places like the US, Australia, Asia but the Boscastle and Lynmouth events are much more intense due to it all happening in a very small area, deep valleys with several rivers flowing into them. We've visited Boscastle many times and know it well; unlike in Lynmouth it happened in broad daylight and I can't understand why so many people remained standing alongside the raging torrent and even on the bridge. It would have been very easy for them to go up paths on either steep side of the valley - yet they stayed there right in the centre. It's a miracle no-one died, especially when you see all the cars from the big car park upstream whizzing past in the muddy flood water. They're now on the sea floor outside Boscastle harbour.

I remember Lynmouth and Boscastle well Peter....
You're right about the weather, far from getting heavy rain we are promised a day of full sun and a topcoat warmer than yesterday!
Yesterday remained overcast and around 15:00 we had a light spatter of rain. At 20:00 it was windy and heavily overcast. This morning first thing it was breezy, we had broken cloud and it was dry. It's still the same. The glass is down a touch on 1013mb and the forecast is for full sun all day. The constant ENE wind will be brisk and gusts to 40mph. We can expect a high of 23C and a low of 14C tonight with up to -4C wind chill when the wind is strongest this afternoon. We can expect another warm day tomorrow and then the temperature drops sharply for the rest of the week but it will remain bright and dry.

Yesterday was a bright sunny day on the whole but later in the afternoon we went back to overcast and we didn't have any late sun. At 20:00 it was breezy and overcast but dry. First thing this morning it was overcast but dry and it hasn't changed since. The glass is down on 1010mb and tending to fall. The forecast is for a dry day of sunny spells. The east winds will be light to moderate giving us a high of 21C and a low of 14C tonight with only a slight wind chill this afternoon. The outlook is for a mild and wetter day tomorrow and then the temperature drops for the rest of the week, up to 10 degrees cooler so no Indian Summer in sight!

We’ve just had a strange couple of days with 25 and 27 forecast, but I don’t think it actually reached either. Instead we had mist, noticeable humidity, and it was overcast and tried on and off to rain. It also got dark early. It was like we were ‘waiting for something’.
Anyway, it’s a beautiful Spring day today, beautiful skies and a slight breeze.
The week looks good too. Plenty of Spring Blossom about. 🌸🦋😊

Yesterday afternoon was bright but not sunny and stayed dry until a light spatter of rain around 15:00. By 20:00 it was heavily overcast and gloomy but it stayed dry. This morning first thing it was overcast but dry, it's the same now. The glass is down on 1004mb and falling. The forecast is for a day of light overcast and perhaps an occasional light shower. The wind is light and starts in the east but later today will be in the NW. We can expect a high of 20C and a low tonight of 12C with negligible wind chill. We can expect a gloomy, wet day tomorrow and then for the rest of the week much cooler but brighter perhaps. We can expect some chilly weather!

Yesterday afternoon it rained continuously apart from a couple of spells when it eased off. At 20:00 it was gloomy and still raining. This morning, guess what? It's still raining. The glass is up on 1004mb and tending to rise. The forecast is overcast and rain until noon and then sunny intervals this afternoon. The NW wind is light this morning but this afternoon rises gusting to 35mph and giving us a high of 16C and a low of 11C tonight with a wind chill of -3C this afternoon. The outlook is for cooler brighter weather and we might even get a grass frost on Thursday night.

Yesterday afternoon stuck to the forecast, it was sunny and breezy but by late afternoon had reverted to the default of overcast. At 20:00 it was breezy and cloudy with some spots of rain blowing in the wind. This morning it started first thing with rain and it hasn't ceased. The glass is on 1002mb and falling. The forecast is for significant rain until midday when we will get into sunny intervals with some light showers possible later. The westerly winds will be brisk and gust to 50mp-h giving us a high of 15C and a low of 5C with a wind chill of up to -4C. A touch of back end! The outlook is for three days of even cooler weather before it improves slightly towards the end of the week. If you have any tender plants in the garden watch out for a cold snap on Thursday night, 0C is expected.....
Later.... Listening to the Shipping Forecast it becomes clear that the British Isles is embedded in some very high winds and low pressure systems. A good day for staying indoors and keeping ones head down!

Similar story here Gloria, definitely a back-endish sort of day.
Yesterday afternoon was windy, brighter and mostly dry but by tea time we were back with the default overcast bur very light. At 20:00 it was going dark early and still windy. This morning the wind had dropped but it was cool and raining. The glass is down on 1000mb and the forecast is mixed, bright sunny intervals but rain all day. The WNW wind will be moderate but gusting to 40mph giving us a high of 12C and a low of 3C tonight with as much as a -4C wind chill during the day. The outlook is for drier brighter weather but two days as cool as today and then only improving slightly over the weekend. Definitely back-endish. Be prepared for a frost tomorrow night.....
