Latest update....
The lady's hip has been `fixed' (don't know what that means) is now at home in her own bed. After three more phone calls an ambulance had arrived at 11.00pm, so she had been lying on the hard floor for 7 hours. The good news is that Beverley said the ambulance men and the hospital staff who treated her couldn't be faulted, they were excellent. As usual in the present day NHS the people at the sharp end are great and the trouble lies with the system and the top managers and politicians who aren't fixing it. It's not just shortage of money it's also the inability to run such a large organisation.

That's better news Peter... So glad to hear the lady isn't hospitalised. You are quite right about the problems with the NHS.
My medical problems are still the same. I hope to see the Otex today!

BUPA have approved the claim for a new BAHA for me to the tune of $7,000.

Thank goodness for private health insurance. The Ear Science Institute have ordered it for me and will call me when it comes in then I can go in to have it programmed. It will be bliss to have two that will connect to the same app instead of having 2 x apps to control the volume and the sound.

Barlick Surgery texted me again on Tuesday about a Shingles jab so I rang again but couldn't get through. No one rang me back after my original call. I tried four times during the day but to no avail. I called into the surgery yesterday teatime and asked why it was so complicated, particularly as they had instigated the issue by notifying me in the first place! Anyway I have an appointment for 12.10 today. Pound to a penny that the nurse will want a weeks BP readings, it's about that time.

Anyway, glad of the Shingles vaccine. I had chickenpox when I was kid and it was miserable.

I had to make an appointment, for a blood test, after being on new medication for 3 months. I tried calling (press 1 for appointments) for over an hour two days running so gave up. I sent and email explaining what I needed and got an automated response which stated I couldn't make an appointment by email. An hour later I received a response, from a real person, with a link to make an appointment...

Well, you live and learn. I now know why the text messages said next Shingles jab. According to nurse Katie at the surgery I had a first dose in March it's on my records! I can't for the life in me remember that visit! Anyway the Shingles vaccine is a two dose job six months apart which all tallies with my call up now. I have since checked my immunisation record in the MyGP app and it does indeed list my first one in March. Done now, apparently two doses and you are sorted for life. That will do me. She said that the surgery would be doing flu jabs starting in October and said to book an appointment, there was a queue at reception on the way out so I will do that one later.

Not sleepy, hence posting now. Going back to bed now to see if I can get off to sleep again.

Hope you feel better soon Kev.

I was beginning to wonder if it was that one! According to Nurse Katie today, the Shingles jab has no adverse side effects apart from a bit of a sore arm as with all jabs! We'll see. :surprised:

My new BAHA is being fit on Monday afternoon - when I say fit I should say programmed as it attaches to my skull via a magnet the other half of which is implanted in my skull.

Good service I must say as I only confirmed what colour I wanted 2 days ago and its now arrived in Perth from Cochlear.

If I knew how to post pics on here I would post a pic...........dad..........

Well, I wasn't wrong about the side effects. Much the same as last time, felt like I had been hit by a bus, extremely weary, aching all over and extremities cold. I got up this morning at 10am had a brew and some cereal then went back to bed until about 3pm. Whacking myself with Paracetamol which seems to be working. Feel a bit better now and managed the shower. Ready for my tea now which will be chicken and pasta.

I was offered the shingles vaccine when I had a flu jab 3 years ago. The nurse warned me not to have it if I had anything planned in the following few days as it could have side effects being a live vaccine. As I was just about to start my 100 miles in the month walk I decided against it.

I know I have had at least one shingles jab because the nurse checked at one time. Nobody has offered me another but I think at 88 I am outside the age range.....
Sorry to hear you've had such a rough passage Ian, I hope you feel better today. Take it easy and give your body a chance....
Flu jab for me on Monday at Well.
Later at 05:30. I have just realised that I can hear sounds via my left ear but still only very faint. Good news, the ear drops must be working!

We're booked in for flu jabs at our local surgery on 3rd September. I had my RSV jab there last Wednesday and have had no side effects.

For the record, I started picking up yesterday, I think the extra few hours in bed helped there. Apart from the residual slight soreness in the muscle I think I am back fully functional. No Ill effects from helping at our Bosom Friends Coffee Morning anyway.

No ill effect either from three hours at the Greyhound (Dog) Pub for a friends 50th birthday. A few beers went down well, there were sarnies and good company to chat to also. Started 4.30pm, home by 7.30pm. Not been in the Dog for quite a while and it has had a makeover with the latest incumbents. they do decent pub food also.. Still recognisable as the Dog though, I noticed they have a multi-fuel stove now instead of the open fire. The event was mainly on the outside seating area at the back of the pub.

The hearing aid is pretty swish Stanley!

As to the brewing of beer at the Dog. No that ceased after Don and Angie left the pub, it was Don who had the micro brewery. They do have quite a good range of "craft" and shall we say smaller brewery beers. A lot more than when it was stuck with one of the major breweries.

Yup, in my day it was a Massey's pub.......
The planets were evidently not in alignment yesterday. The flu jab is postponed until 9 October. Head office never sent the delivery. They said they'd mailed and texted me, they lied....... Ah well, 9 October is still early for most years.
