Morning

Its raining hard. We have just woken up and its already 8.20a.m. We were all very tired last night, in fact Ed drove us back to the hotel rather than walk down . Not sure of our plans for the day but I think the rain has stopped any plans for visiting the National arboretum.

Have a good day all

I shall do my hour in the shed this morning and there is no prospect of a walk this morning, I don't need any shopping and we have heavy rain forecast all day. After second sleep the day is going to be completely taken up with the email problem as TalkTalk have promised to call between 12:00 and 14:00 and Col is coming down from Burnt Hill to help me. (That is such good news...... )
As if that wasn't enough, Kev has promised to call in on Tuesday to look at the state of play.......

Morning

This email problem is dragging on, hope you get it sorted today.

Yes it was a long, very wet drive back from Coventry. We decided to use the rural route to miss both the roadworks and the endless spray from lorries. Some of the roads had disappeared at the sides where the water was quite deep. We could miss those bis on quieter roads so It was a good choice although visibility was poor at the highest point at 1300 feet just before Buxton. We were home by 2.45 pm, and therefore early enough to complete the washing. I had changed the bedding before we went out on Friday morning but only managed to get half of it done with the other bits and pieces and they had all dried on the airer in the conservatory whilst we were away.

This morning is French at Haslingden, this afternoon will be the ironing and zoom yoga at teatime so I won’t see much of the rain today except the drive to and from Haslingden though that will be better than last weeks fog. Have a good day all

Col is a good man and I look forward to his input.
Sue mentioned rain in Coventry yesterday, there is more forecast for today.

This morning I started rebuilding the engine now I have a plinth and the paint has dried. I shall continue and start the actual fitting when I get to that point..... Now I want my breakfast and a rest from working left handed!

Morning

I gather Col fixed your email issue, Stanley. If so that is good.

I seem to have another cold. Bob went down with what we thought was my cold on Friday then I started again on Sunday. This is different , more heady and with a cough. I didn’t feel up to yoga last night so cancelled.

Today we have opticians appointments then this afternoon we may go over to Bolton to pick up the fabric I need for Janes dress. I think I told you that the shop in Chester contacted the one in Bolton with all the fabric details so I can collect from there. Tea time is yoga and pilates at the studio if I feel up to it. Have a good day all.

Yes Sue, Col has relieved that particular burden! Fans if Bob's Bits can have a field day! Sorry to hear about the colds, they seem to be hanging on Sue. Don't do too much, my favourite treatment for a cold is to have a good feed and go to bed for a snuggle! I recommend it to you.....

I spent 45 minutes carrying on with the rebuilding of the engine so far. First I tightened down the bolts holding the crosshead guides in place after checking the clearances. Then I refined the finish and fit of the crankshaft bearings, fitted the flywheel and did the first easing of the fit in the bearings by running the shaft in with the drill. Then I check fitted the flywheel temporarily to make sure it clears the base when fully engaged on the shaft. That's enough for this morning, my mind is on breakfast now. (And the pain in my shoulder!)

I shall do my hour in the shed starting at 06:00 and have decided to take the crankshaft out and ease the bearings as they are a fraction too tight.
I will have a walk to Town Square after second sleep to top up my vitamins etc. at Shambles. It's the cheapest health care I know!

I returned to the fitting of the crankshaft and decided the best way to free the shaft up in the bearings was to take it out and skim half a thou off the journals.
That was straightforward. Then I decided to refine the crosshead while I had this end stripped down so I measured marked and drilled it for the crosshead pin. Put a small radius on the end of the slot for the connecting rod and repolished it before putting it back in the crosshead guides. Next I took the studs out of the horns for the bearings and re-fitted them with Loctite. Then I did the drawing for the crosshead pin and at that point stopped. I had done an hour in the shed and I want my breakfast. There is no rush and the morning was error free....

Morning

Well yesterday was busy, opticians in the morning. Bob needs new glasses as his lenses are damaged and I had already said I wanted new glasses , something not black, so its going to be an expensive month. Straight after lunch we went to Bolton and I got the fabric I need. The afternoon was then a sewing one as I finalised the pattern for my new top.I opted out of pilates and yoga as lying on the floor aggravated my cough and sinuses. I have decided to have a week off .Today will be a sewing day on Jane’s dress. We too take vitamins every day Stanley and have done for years .

Have a good day all

Taking a sensible selection of supplements makes sense Sue. I decided a long time ago that despite the care I put into my diet, I could still benefit from some supplements. It seems to be working!
I think you are wise to take a holiday from Pilates while you are under the cosh from your cold.
Yes, new glasses are a major problem.... My annual test comes next month.....

I shall do my hour in the shed this morning but after that I doubt if I will stir out of the house as it is such a nasty forecast for the day.

One task this morning, make the crosshead pin from scratch and fit it in the crosshead. Then put away the tackle and have breakfast! I did it quietly and accurately with no mistakes and it took me 45 minutes..... That's fine!

Morning

I have been unable to find a pair of jeans I like and thought I had left them in France even though I don't remember taking them so yesterday morning we had a trip to Matalan and we both came out armed with a few winter warming goodies plus jeans on my part. We then went into Rochdale to draw out some cash for art today and had a coffee, thus the morning soon disappeared. In the afternoon I made Jane’s dress up to the trying on stage and also washed, dried and shortened said jeans. On putting them away in my wardrobe what did I find but the missing pair ! Such is life.

This morning is art at Haslingden, this afternoon more sewing. Have a good day all

The first job this morning was to install the crankshaft in the bearings, fully tighten them down and then check that the shaft was free. All was well, a far better fit than yesterday. Then I mounted the flywheel in the lathe and refined the finish ready for installing it on the engine. That done I installed it on the crankshaft locking it in place with Loctite 638, high strength retainer. This way I don't throw the wheel out of true with keys or set screws. Then I cleaned the CI dust off Mrs Harrison and that filled my hour.... Now I deserve breakfast!

Morning

We had an amazingly dry day yesterday with just a bit of drizzle all day, it was fleetingly heavier about 2. There were not many of us at art in the morning, I am not sure this class can ride the storm of not many members, but the ones who go are keen to see it keep going. In the afternoon I started to cut out the shirt that Maxine and I designed but found I did not have enough material, so cut out some trousers instead using an oddment of material I bought on Clitheroe market earlier in the year.

Today is u3a art at Todmorden , a much bigger and thriving group with membership well over 20. It’s charcoal drawings today of fruits and seeds. I love using charcoal but hate drawing fruits and seeds. Botany was never my thing and this annual art session always reminds me of the worst and most boring lessons I ever had to teach. Otherwise being Friday it’s lunch at the Lake and a little birthday celebration with Wendy. The weather is due to be cool and damp. Have a good day all
