I saw THIS sequel to the news of the death of the lady after having her buttocks enhanced by unregulated injection.
Cairo Nakhate-Chirwa had a non-surgical Brazilian butt-lift (BBL) in June. She's happy with the results - but says that she now regrets it after finding out the procedure was unregulated and potentially risky. This comes after arrests were made following the death of Alice Webb, who is thought to have undergone the procedure. A non-surgical BBL most often involves filler being injected into the buttock to make it bigger, more rounded or lifted, and is not regulated in the UK. Experts have called the lack of rules in the UK the “wild west” while NHS England has warned against the procedure entirely. The Department of Health and Social Care says it is currently exploring regulatory options of the non-surgical cosmetics sector and says it will provide an update in due course. Cairo used Instagram to find someone to give her a liquid BBL - another name for for a non-surgical BBL - in late June. She found one page that was advertising the procedure for £1,200. Twenty-four hours later, she arrived at a London flat for her appointment. She did not check whether the person performing the procedure was a qualified medical professional. “When they’re advertising themselves, you just assume they are [qualified]," Cairo said. But non-surgical cosmetic procedures are not regulated in the UK - this includes liquid BBLs.
What intrigued me was why someone would confess to such stupidity? Then it dawned on me that this was publicity seeking and of course it has worked, the lady has now been noticed in Barlick.....

See THIS BBC report on Lebanon and the death of the Hezbollah leader.
Iran’s supreme leader says the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah "will not go unavenged", after he was killed in Israeli air strikes on Beirut. Ayatollah Khamenei also declared five days of mourning in Iran for Nasrallah. Nasrallah, who had not been seen in public for years because of fears of being assassinated by Israel, was one of the best known and most influential figures in the Middle East. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel "settled the score" with Nasrallah's death, calling it a "historic turning point". US President Joe Biden says his death is a "measure of justice for his many victims", and he again called for a ceasefire. Cross-border fire between Israel and Hezbollah is continuing - Lebanon's health ministry said at least 33 people were killed and nearly 200 wounded in Israeli strikes on Saturday
I don't understand how Western Leaders can publicly supply arms and agree with the Israeli actions but at the same time call for a cease fire.
But then I am just a little old man sat at his kitchen table.....

THIS report caught my eye....
A SpaceX capsule sent to bring back two astronauts stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) has docked. The Dragon capsule, which has two empty seats for Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, docked at 17:30 eastern time (22:30 BST). The pair arrived at the station on Boeing's new Starliner capsule for an eight-day mission in June, but were forced to remain there because of a fault discovered during the flight. They are now expected to return to Earth in February.
Travel from Earth to destinations in space seems to have become routine and commercial. I hope the return journey in February is just as uneventful.

The Israel Defence Forces say a "limited, localised and targeted" ground operation is under way against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The targets pose "an immediate threat to Israeli communities", the IDF says in a statement posted to X. The announcement comes after a BBC reporter on the ground said they heard fresh strikes in southern Beirut. Israel's army had previously ordered residents to evacuate three areas of the city. Earlier, Hezbollah's deputy leader Naim Qassem said the group was ready for an Israeli ground offensive and that the battle "may be long". He made the comments in the first speech by a high-ranking Hezbollah official since Israel killed its leader Hassan Nasrallah in a strike on Beirut. In Lebanon, officials say more than 1,000 people have been killed in the past two weeks, while up to a million may now be displaced.
I read this in a BBC report and it looks to me as though the 'wider conflict' in the middle East that all the Western leaders say they are trying to avoid is already happening!
How else would you describe what is happening? It seems to me that what they actually mean is that Iran's involvement would constitute 'the wider war'.

Early in the Ukraine invasion Tripps suggested we were already in World War 3. His prediction is looking even more likely now. Russia already has military support from China (which already has a thousand or so soldiers in Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian exclave between Lithuania and Poland), North Korea (ammunition, missiles etc) and Iran (supply of drones). If Israel and Iran start a full-blown war that could be the tipping point, when the dominos start falling over.

I honestly can't see why the UK and US governments are both asking for a cease fire but still supplying the main protagonist (Israel) with weapons to prosecute genocide! Hypocrisy at the highest level. Stop giving them the means and it will focus minds.

I assumed this was from Bob Dylan from a long time ago, but seems not. It's Barry McGuire from 1965 and is scarily convincing. "The Eastern world - it is exploding" "even the Jordan River has bodies floatin' "

I never thought I'd live to see an outbreak of war on a global scale, call it WW3 if you like. But we definitely have it and are as useless at preventing it as we were in 1914 and 1939. Very depressing......

I hesitate to post this - but do you remember that a similar "attack" of missiles from Lebanon took place earlier this year around April time? I've heard mention of it on the wireless today. I recall commenting at the time that I was surprised that 300+ missiles caused only four deaths in Israel.

This time 200 (+/-) missiles - and no mention of casualties. The film I saw of the Israeli response showed two missiles exploding in what appeared to be open ground. There was mention of "tunnels". When they can put a missile through a chosen window in a block of flats - you must assume that's where it was aimed.

I get the feeling once more that this is orchestrated to some extent.

Members may feel free to have other views on the matter.

PS: I wonder if the UK could protect itself against such an attack -do we have an "Iron Dome" - or are we still prepared for yesterday's threat. A couple of fast jets from Lossiemouth is OK for a drunk on Ryanair, but wouldn't really suffice in this scenario. I have these surreal thoughts of the MOD people, sitting at home watching "A Bridge too Far" and looking at WWII medal collections on Antiques Roadshow.

Yes, I do remember the previous missile attack and I heard an explanation of why fewer were brought down this time. Evidently the previous attack was mainly drones and cruise missiles which are slow enough to be brought down by intercepting fighters. The current attack was mainly ballistic missiles which can only be brought down by defensive rocket systems.
I agree with you David about the quality of the information being fed to us, it is very simplistic. Starmer keeps referring to interventions by the RAF and there are references to thanks being due to our brave lads..... Starmer, like all the others is an armchair warrior. Gone are the days when we had politicians like MacMillan who had actually served in active fighting......
Perhaps the truth is that these missiles aren't as accurate or dangerous as they are cracked up to be. Many of them will be long in the tooth, having been sat there waiting to be launched for years. Not the latest models fresh off the production lines like the ones being used in Ukraine.....

One thing I noted in the introduction to the Leslie Graham story. I mentioned that Doc started the original Oneguy site in March 2004. So we are twenty years old!

They need to stop all this nonsense or at least stop applying double standards to the Zionist government in Israel. Asking for a ceasefire while still supplying weapons to the government judged guilty of genocide is the epitome of hypocrisy. Let them stand on their own two feet. Cancel the arms supplies which I guarantee would focus minds.Would only work if the US took the same stand. We certainly should not be "helping" with our troops or task force apart from their evacuation role to protect British Nationals.

I was a bit surprised to discover that the population of Israel is only about 9 millions (less than double that of Scotland) of whom only about 7 million are actually Jewish. It seems that the Hasisidic (strictly orthodox) cohort are excused all military duty, which is starting to cause some bad feeling. They say they are the only democracy in the region, and there are Arab members of the Knesset or Parliament.

There must be a huge burden on the economy to sustain all this warfare. However when the stated aim of your enemy is to totally eliminate your nation there is not much alternative.

This links to a Bobov sect wedding. I looked for the bride and bridesmaids, but have been unable to find them. Very impressive hats though.

David, I think you'll find that the extreme sects immunity from military service has already been restricted by the far right government of Netanyahu....
It doesn't surprise me that you can't find the bride. (or any other woman for that matter) They are not important in the wedding ritual!
On another matter.... I saw this report of the end of the trial in this tragic case. I can't get the image of those children hiding under the bed and being suffocated out of my head.

Early in the war mothers protested in the streets because their sons and daughters were sent to fight but those of mothers in the extreme sects were not called up.

We have a clear sky this morning but I have not seen any signs Peter.....

THIS Caught my attention this morning.
Plans for a new chippy have come up against a health board's demands for fruit and veg on the menu. Betsi Cadwaladr health board wants the proposed takeaway in Morfa Bychan, Gwynedd, to sell a "good selection" of fruit and veg. It wants the menu to have less fat, salt and sugar and is worried an increase in fast food outlets is "detrimental" to people's health. It is unclear whether customers would relish the prospect of cod and broccoli on the menu. The board said the location of the proposed new business was popular among holidaymakers, adding: "The food in these areas is targeted to meet the needs of tourists as opposed to local residents. "This is of particular concern for local permanent residents where this food is available throughout the year and not just during holiday periods."
If anyone is interested in my opinion, trying to modify diet by regulation of what a chip shop can sell is bonkers. If they think this could be effective why not start where the real unhealthy foods are sold, the supermarkets.
The answer to that question is of course the fact that the supermarkets can afford fancy lawyers and the authorities would lose money on that one!

I realised that I had misread the clock and got up four hours earlier. I carried on, did my responses on the site and went back to bed and had some more sleep. Another dog attack.... See THIS BBC Wales report.
A 12-year-old girl has suffered life-changing injuries and been taken to hospital following a dog attack. A 37-year-old man and 42-year-old woman, both from the Brynmawr area, have been arrested on suspicion of owning or possessing a dog bred for fighting and owning or possessing a dog dangerously out of control. Police said they were called to Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent following reports of the dog attack in the late afternoon. Gwent Police said there is no further risk to the public.
Dog owning is not a right, it is a responsibility and it's time we had some clear sighted regulation.
