Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Did you get the phone call from Talktalk Stanley?
Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Colin, we owe you one...........dad has been miserable trying to deal with talk talk and his painful shoulder.......is there anyone on here that can fix his shoulder???? pleeeeeeease
My computers are working ok but my washing machine has decided to chuck up an error code, I fear that I may be in the market for a new one.......I currently have a Bosch and have had it for over 10 years.........the last time it was repaired I was told to keep it going as long as I could as the new ones are not as good, Next time I was told to go for an LG made in Korea - the engineer said they were the best ones.

Hard luck with the washer Margaret!
Good question Wendy, yes but it only rang twice and then vanished. They are worse than a sick headache.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Mags, I had an LG washer which kept going for about 15 years with occasional help from Colin. We thought it had finally bitten the dust just before Covid as it needed a replacement part so we got a new washer. The LG went out into the workshop and Col (of course) sent for the new part and fixed the machine which he plumbed in out there and I used it for washing large and mucky things like horse blankets and dog towels. No need for either of those now but I still put bulky stuff through that washer rather than my new one. The good thing about the new one is that it is made in the UK and has a hot fill, which is rare these days! We have solar heated water so it makes sense. It's an Ebac, made in Durham and as Covid was kicking off there were issues getting hold of one but the only available machine turned up in stock at Harry Garlicks in Earby!

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Later.... I was invited to a chat with TalkTalk. I told them a talented friend of mine had done in an hour and a half what they failed to accomplish in seven wasted days. I do not need their help.
I didn't tell them what I thought about them, I'll leave that until I get the inevitable survey.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Good time to move on ? Admitted problems with ear wax, and your hearing, and the speech of the Asian accented, fast talking, help desk people. I think Col fixed it without the intervention of Talk talk (?) , - so how can the company be at fault? I think I'd just put it behind me. Unless of course there was some enjoyment in the battle.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Of course TalkTalk are at fault! They spent 12 days doing nothing and their system rejected all my attempts to fix it myself. The reason Col succeeded was that he knew how to circumvent the blocks TalkTalk placed in my way.
I shall just keep using my email and Paying TalkTalk £32 a month.
(They haven't tried to contact me again. I think they have got the message.)

Morning Peter. Nice to see you back! Yes, Col was the nicest thing that could have happened to me. As an encore he breathed on my mobile phone and made it much more useable by tweaking the settings.... He's a very talented man and kind with it.

Colin's a useful man to know in these digital days, especially since Pluggy became ill. Has anyone got news about how Pluggy is coping?

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
I have decided that the main reason that TalkTalk are so bad at customer relations is that they take no notice of what the client says. I am getting a couple of text messages every day asking me to be patient, they will get round to dealing with my problem.
Apart from anything else, this is so inefficient and wasteful of the company's resources.....

They'll be auto generated from their incident management system. You'll keep getting them until someone closes the ticket.Stanley wrote: ↑02 Oct 2024, 02:40 I have decided that the main reason that TalkTalk are so bad at customer relations is that they take no notice of what the client says. Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Talk Talk has been losing customers by the bucket load and falling further into a debt black hole for at least a year now. At the last minute they've managed to persuade some of its biggest shareholders to give them some cash to keep the business afloat for a while. However there have also been discussions on splitting up the group. Mark Jackson who runs the ISPReview web site says: ...the ISP doesn’t have as much financial flexibility as they once did, which potentially always runs the risk of having a negative impact on service and support quality.

"Customer service is appalling."
Quite Kev.......
Your news doesn't surprise me Peter but all I am interested is how good is the connection and is it a reasonable price. Both those are respectable and don't forget they installed full fibre for free. As Ian said, better the devil you know.....

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Has anyone else noticed a deterioration in the relevance of results provided by Google searches? I have - the results often seem to shoot off at a tangent, all relevant to each other but not to the precise search that I entered. I suspect Google is using more AI. It seems to get something `into its head' and targets that without considering what else my search might be for. But it doesn't always happen and I suspect they may be trying something out at various times or at random. We are Google guinea pigs!

I suspect it will be the increased use of AI, it thinks it knows what you're looking for
