Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday it stayed dry until 15:30 when we had heavy rain for about an hour. It had stopped by the time I went to bed at 19:00..... This morning first thing(!) we also had rain and it hasn't stopped yet. The glass has dropped to 990mb and the forecast is for a mostly dry Monday with bright overcast becoming sunny intervals from early morning onwards. The southerly winds will be light to moderate and allow us a high of 15C with a low of 10C on Monday night. We can expect a wind chill of -2C in the afternoon. The outlook is still for similar weather but drier and tending to get colder.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
We had rain on and off all day yesterday, today is starting off fine, but the sky says it could go either way.

Same here Gloria but up to now mostly sunny, but having said that it's overcast now.... I've been for a short walk, no sit on traffic duty, a bit too cold for that>

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon we lost the sun but also the rain that was forecast. It was just overcast. We had clear skies during the night but this morning we are overcast but dry even though we have a forecast of light rain. The glass is steady on 990mb and the forecast is for overcast and light rain until mid-morning when we can expect sunny spells for the rest of the day. The easterly winds will be light giving us a high of 14C and a low of 9C tonight with only a light wind chill this afternoon. The six day outlook is for cooler mixed weather. Nothing extreme but definitely tending to cool down.
Later, at 04:30. It has started raining.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday the sunny spells never happened in Barlick and we had a damp gloomy day until mid afternoon when it stopped raining only to start again during the night. This morning we have continuous light rain. The glass is on 983mb and falling slowly. The forecast is for rain all day. The NE wind is light to moderate and later today gusts to 40mph giving us a high of 12C, a low of 3C tonight and a wind chill of -3C this afternoon. The outlook is for brighter but even cooler weather. We can have little doubt that we are well into Autumn now....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was another damp mizzly affair. It never really rained but it was never dry. This morning it's calm dry and overcast. The glass has gone up to 996mb and the forecast is for a cold but bright day with sunny spells later. The constant NW winds are never much more than light and give us a high of 10C and a low tonight of 0C. The wind chill of up to -3C is with us all day and it will feel cold. The outlook is for very similar weather, colder than the seasonal average.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was pretty much as forecast, lots of sunshine but it never warmed up. First thing this morning it was calm clear and cold, it hasn't changed since. The glass is up on 1010mb and the forecast is for s dry cold day with sunny spells. The constant SW winds are moderate and give us a wind chill of up to 3C. We can expect a high of 11C and a low tonight of 3C.The perceived temperature will always be in single figures, We can expect a couple more below average days and then on Monday we get warmer weather but that will eventually bring in rain.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
As Wendy's photo shows, some spectacular space weather last night. Visble all over the UK and down into Northern France. Also visible to the naked eye which was a bonus and indicative of a very intense event. I saw diffused purple looking over Valley Gardens at about 8.15. At 9.30 or so I had purple and green. Our Carla over in Silsden has very good outlook to the NE from her patio up Howden Road, she managed to capture a curtain effect of purple and green over over Silsden.
Here is the onset around 8.15pm as viewed from the Croft, perfectly visible to the naked eye.
Here are a couple from over in Silsden taken slightly later showing the curtain effect.
Lots of spectacular images on the local Facebook sites. It was a massive intensity CME event the index readings were the highest I have ever seen on the Glendale App that I use for monitoring auroral activity. We are around solar maximum at the moment which runs on an 11 year cycle, hence the more regular auroral events over the last year or so as we climbed the upward slope of the curve.

And I slept through it all!
Back from veggie shopping. How one bloke can eat £32 worth of veggies in a week beats me! And no waste either.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Thanks for the impressive pictures. Nice to see a natural phenomenon that isn't blamed on climate change.
Mention of the eleven year sunspot cycle reminds me that there was a max on, in the year before I retired from the radio game. That was in 2002 which is exactly two cycles ago. Doesn't time fly?

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was bright and dry but cold, exactly as forecast. This morning first thing it was calm, overcast and cold but dry. It is still the same. The glass is down on 1007mb and the forecast is for light rain showers all day. The light wind is in the south at the moment but during the day strengthens to moderate and ends up in the west giving us a high of 11C and a low of 0C tonight with a wind chill later today of -4C. The outlook is for a dry bright day tomorrow and even colder after that the temperature rises to the mid-teens for the rest of the week but overcast with it.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afrenoon we had the showers that had been forecast but during the night the sky cleared and this morning we have a frost. The glass is up a touch on 1008mb and tending to rise, The forecast is for a dry day with sunny spells until mid afternoon when it will cloud over. We shall have a light wet wind all day giving us a high of 8C and a low tonight of 4C with the worst wind chill of -2C this morning..... The outlook is for the temperature to bounce back into the mid teens for the rest of the week, more cloud about but no rain forecast.

Love the Northern Light pics.

Our atmosphere feels very lazy today. It’s like the sky is saying
‘I could rain if I wanted to, but I really can’t be bothered’.
Days and nights are warming up, and I’m back to normal cotton sheets on the bed.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was overcast and only a light west wind but we had no rain. This morning first thing it was calm and overcast but dry and not as cold as recent days. It hasn't changed since then. The glass is up on 1014mb but tending to fall and the forecast is for a dry day with sunny intervals. The constant easterly winds will be light and we can expect a high of 10C and a low of 6C tonight with only a slight wind chill all day. The outlook is for warmer weather with perhaps the penalty of rain for the next two days but then brightening up.
