Re: GOOD TV
I share your scepticism David....
I watched my last episode of Morse last night and segued straight into Professor Brian Cox and his programme on volcanoes illustrated by clips from information sent back by the NASA satellites roaming the universe. Mind blowing and overwhelming.....
Big decision tonight, do I move straight into Endeavour?

Re: GOOD TV
Monday night has become Call my Bluff night. Back to the 1970's.
Laid back, relaxing, total quality - devoid of all the things that makes modern TV almost unwatchable.
I'd also recommend the writings of Patrick Campbell the 3rd Lord Glenavy - motto Ne Quid Nimis (Moderation in all things). Brilliant short stories. A really good dipper into. Of course my often repeated anecdote that I once met him when we were both having a second fitting in Abe Sacks' shop in Spring Gardens adds a lot of interest for me, and a pleasant memory. Me for my wedding suit, and him because he thought it was better value than Savile Row. I'm sure you're tired of hearing about it.

Never David!
I got a pleasant surprise last night, there are five more Morse episodes so I can extend my nostalgia binge a bit further before diving back into Endeavour......

Morse had his coronary last night and then I had another episode of Brian Cox and the Solar System. Mind-boggling stuff, quite overwhelming.

Re: GOOD TV
Love John Thaw as Morse. Inspector Morse author Colin Dexter “killed off” the TV Series. Dexter wrote a clause in his will banning anyone else playing the part of the detective after his death - to prevent future actors ‘competing’ with John Thaw.
Now ofcourse we have Endeavour and Lewis.
I can’t relate to Endeavour being the young Morse.

The trick Cathy is to suspend disbelief and go with the flow.... I like the way they introduced the injury that gave Morse John Thaw's limp....

Re: GOOD TV
I’ve read that John Thaw had a Club Foot, also that he broke his foot while running for a bus as a boy and that it was the result of a car accident as a boy.
Whichever, but every so often you see John Thaw lifting his knee slightly, to move his foot along.
Once you notice it, you see it more.

Re: GOOD TV
You're right Cathy. I had never noticed it until it was brought to my attention..... after that it is obvious. Explained in Endeavour by him being shot in the lag if I remember correctly......
My mother had a club foot and many people never realised it. People who have them get very good at concealing the problem.....

Well, this morning I found myself watching a YouTube channel showing Manchester Airport Live, and with a few breaks I'm still watching!
Re: GOOD TV
Thank goodness for that - I thought it was just me. . .
There's an element of "ambulance chasing" to it all, but they attend even when there isn't a storm active.
Sometimes they go to the States.

Re: GOOD TV
I decided to give Endeavour a try last night and was pleasantly surprised to find that old age had come to my rescue, I couldn't remember ever seeing the first episode in the series.
I shall carry on and hope this is the same for the others.

Re: GOOD TV
I like the episode of Endeavour (towards the end of the Series) when they show him entering his first own home, and his Jaguar Mark 2 is parked out the front.
It’s quite a moment , when you know that ‘Morse has arrived ‘.

Re: GOOD TV
Never mind Manchester Airport in the wind, or repeats of "Endeavour" - I hereby confess to watching the whole of the emergency full meeting of Oldham Council which is at the moment well into its third hour.
High drama - I wish I understood more about the issues. I think there is more than meets the eye to it all.
They have just finished - All the amendments were voted down, and old enmities were vigorously renewed. I am unclear as to what has been achieved. I suspect the answer is absolutely nothing.
The leader Ms Arooj Shah (no lack of self esteem there), has this week been shortlisted for Council Leader of the year. That's the end of irony then. .

Re: GOOD TV
Ludwig on BBC, think series 1 has finished, binges watched it twice on iplayer. A little bit jumpy and inconsistent, a kind of Morse-light with Cambridge as the backdrop rather than Oxford and a slightly older SAAB rather than Jag. Has its moments even if some plot lines feel lifted from Poirot and other detective shows of the past
Ahh, last episode on now, see if you can spot at least one inconsistency in the whodunnit, even if right does get outed.

I saw an advert for that last night and was puzzled why the strap line that went with the title was 'Line of Duty'.
I'm enjoying Endeavour, I have never seen these episodes before. I mean, Morse with a moustache?
